  1. Ensworth is guaranteed at least the # 2 seed due and a first round bye due to owning the tie breaker over both MBA and BA. As you said, the only way EHS finishes first is if MBA loses to JPII and beats BA (not likely) so they will probably finish BA, EHS and MBA.
  2. CBHS was favored in this one, but Briarcrest is really pretty good. Briarcrest and MUS play for the 1 and 2 seeds, and CBHS & SBA will play this weekend for the 3 & 4 spots. From thier overall records all four D2 AA West teams look pretty good. Can you give us any type of scouting report?
  3. EHS beat BA 5-3 in 8 innings. EHS is now 11-7 and BA is 12-6. MBA is 11-5 with 5 games left.
  4. EHS vs JP II series will play as scheduled at Lipscomb Univ. BA vs EHS makeup is today at BA. EHS is reopen and the water is completely off the football and baseball fields. It will take several weeks to clean-up but should be ready for summer ball. The worst part of it is our dugouts washed away. Oh wait, we didn't have any to begin with. My bad. From what I hear: MBA vs JP2 on Wed. BA vs EHS on Wed. JP2 and Ensworth are still closed due to flood. EHS has major damage. Probably no more home baseball games this season. Football field under 8 to 10 feet of water.
  5. This looks about right. Baylor owns the tie breaker over Ensworth so if they tie Baylor would win.
  6. BGA must have had to sit on wood benches and couldn't do thier little noise thing with thier cleats and bats on metal benches. Either that or they didn't have all thier bench warmers there to make noise.
  7. EHS and BA split ansd still have to play the third game. BA is now 12 -5, EHS is 10-7. MBA best JP II on Friday and the Saturday double header was rained out, I suspect. So MBA is 11-5 and JP II is 8-8. So the standings look like this right now: BA 12 -5 MBA 11-5 EHS 10-7 Baylor 10-8 JP II 8-8 BGA 8-10 McCallie 7-11 Ryan 3-15
  8. Jacob Carter, UT and Cory Sacks, TCU have signed as invited walk ons. As invited walk ons they begin practice with the rest of the team and are guaranteed roster spots (just no scholarship). However,it is not unusual these days for an invited walk on to get a scholarship in subsequent years if they manage to get on the field. Both will likely red shirt as freshman. These were two very good players that got hurt thier Senior Years and didn't get as much attention during recruiting season as they would have. I wouldn't be surprised to see them both see playing time in a few years.
  9. Does anyone know how the region tournament is seeded? Assume the season ended today.
  10. What are the standing after this last weekend? I think it was a surprise to everyone that EHS took 3 games from MBA. That should shake up the standings. quote="BigOwl"]Any word when BA and PJP will play their game that was rained out?
  11. Yesterday's game was a surprise for sure. However, it was the first start of the season (outside of spring break in Memphis when he was injured) for Cody Tollison who is Ensworth's # 1 pitcher. Cody went the whole way and may be peaking at the right time. I agree anyone can win this, perhaps except for FR.
  12. Paul Wade is inheriting a very good OL and he will even make them better. Ensworth is very lucky to get him. How many weeks to week 0?
  13. Not according to our stat book. Don't think they out hit them! Only the first game. Total hits BGA 21 EHS 20 Game 1 hits EHS 10 BGA 8 Game 2 hits BGA 7 EHS 5 Game 3 hits BGA 6 EHS 5 Out playing BGA but loosing the game doesn't mean much.
  14. BGA got very lucky in the Ensworth series. Ensworth out played and out hit them in every game but couldn't finish. Let's see how your predictions are holding UP! Current DII AA records: 3/30 Team *** League *** Overall 1. BGA *** 2-1 *** 4-4 2. BA *** 3-0 *** 4-4 3. JP2 *** 3-0 *** 9-0 4. Baylor *** 0-3 *** 2-6 5. Ensworth *** 1-2 *** 4-4 6. McCallie *** 0-3 *** 0-3 7. Father Ryan *** 0-6 *** 0-8 8. MBA *** 3-0 *** 5-3 Not bad on predictions so far. Maybe MBA should move up. They are better than most predictions. Baylor should move down, the team is struggling. 1. JP2 2. MBA 3. BA 4. BGA 5. Ensworth 6. Baylor 7. McCallie 8. Father Ryan Big games this week with MBA vs McCallie / BA vs BGA / EHS vs Baylor
  15. Actually my daughter's team, BWSC 95 Elite had a new manager this year and he missed sending in the paperwork to TN Soccer by a few days and they rejected our application for D1 State League. The deadline was in the fall during the high school season and we hadn't even started playing yet. I think there may have been a number of other teams in the same boat. TN Soccer had an early deadline for no good reason and it really hurt U-15 this year.We tried every way possible to get an acception and they turned us down at every level. So we can't even play D 2. We are playing extra Tournaments and Friendlies. Also we are doing the US Club Regional Tournament in Vero Beach over Memorial Weekend. We won the Regional last year and went to the US Club Nationals which was a blast, but we would have done anything to play state league this year. In my opinion, you can blame the situation with U-15 State League on TN Soccer and thier stupid deadlines and rigid enforcement.
  16. It is a mystery. Most people think the administration just doesn't care about baseball and wants to funnel all the sports money to football. It's crazy because an inexpensive dugout could be built for less than $10K and they just spent $20 million on an auditorium. Dugouts could have been built with the scraps that were thrown away. There are no lights either and the campus is locked up on Sunday. It's a shame because this year's team is decent.
  17. In Hoc, Are you a Sigma Chi? I would kids leave either for a school with a bigger national reputation, or they want a better education than UT and can't qualify for Vandy.
  18. Bring your radar gun out to Centennial at 4:30pm on Wed. and you can see for yourself. LOW 90'S COME ON LETS BE HONEST......
  19. of course. No, just kidding its Jason Maxwell from Marshall Co. Played about 5 years in the majors mostly for the Twins. He retired in 2004 I think. Great guy and a really good baseball coach.
  20. Just trying to give you and others a sense of what Ricky is about but quoting him. We are very lucking to have him as a coach at Ensworth. Thanks for quoting the website????? Just because people know your name doesn't always make it a good thing...
  21. Thanks Zig44. Actually Ensworth is looking for good athletes period, and good students, actors, singers, debators, and anyone else you can think of. The financial aid that is provided is exactly the same amount that any private school can provide, because in order to be a member of TSSAA the financial records are sent to an independent service (all schools use the same one), and they tell you how much money can be provided and how much the students family must pay. Ensworth has amazing facilities, teachers and coaches. The way Ensworth "recruits" is to get prospective families to experience Ensworth and decide on thier own. It's the same way other private schools do it. There are more non-athletes on financial aid than athletes. But clearly some very good athletes attend Ensworth. However, most of them pay full tuition. This year it is over $27K.
  22. Love Ricky and think he is the best coach and role model for athletes in the state. How many kids from all over the state in all divisions know him by name? He must be doing a lot right. He teaches and coaches about life, not just sports. (From the Ensworth Website) Ensworth desires to be countercultural. We want to build a tradition of competition where success is not measured by comparison to others but by the standard of excellence we expect of ourselves.Individual statistics and subjective awards have minimal value here at Ensworth. We celebrate selfless action, sincere encouragement, intelligent play, and intense preparation. We seek not to find our value in the score on the board, rather in the intensity or our effort, in the depth of friendships created, and in the excellence of our attitudes. Our focus is in our willingness to prepare to win, not in the winning itself. Athletics at Ensworth is an exciting and joyful experience for participants, families and fans. Join us!" Ricky Bowers, EHS Athletic Director
  23. It should be really fun tomorrow. I know both teams are really happy that it worked out this way and they get to play again. This is what you wait for all your career. Coach Kevin can game plan all he wants but Ensworth is pretty simple actually. Run as hard as you can for as long as you can and then sit down and let the next five play. That would be fun if MBA subsitutes in the first 15 seconds. I'm quite sure Ensworth would love to play a lot against MBA's second five as the starters at MBA have been very succesful in the first quarter of both games. Ensworth didn't play for 11 days last week and was 7 out of 8 on threes in the first half. Maybe they like having days off. They scored 88 points. The academic at Ensworth are quite rigorous but I wouldn't put them at the level of a college. Just a very high level private school. Are you coming to the game?
  24. Perfectgame1, Yes, I am talking about Cody Tollison and he has accepted an offered by MTSU as a pitcher. It would have to be very strong glass because he is throwing in the low 90's with control. Cody was coming off an ACL last year and didn't fully recover until summer. Glad we agree on jimmy15.
