  1. I haven't seen a game this year. Does BGA still bang the dugout bench with a bat like a girl's softball team and dog pile on the mound everytime they win a game?
  2. Tiger, I think you may be wrong on this. All DII schools use a third party clearinghouse to determine how much aid someone qualifies for and that is the amount they can give them. They do have to give them any money even if there is a need. So in a sense the school is deciding how much to give out in financial aid but they can't give someone more than they qualify for based on need as determined by an independent third party.
  3. No dog in this hunt but it is probably because they enjoy beating up on public schools and having you whine about it on this board.
  4. I noticed in the program for the D2 State Basketball Championships last weekend that MBA is still listed as winning the 2010 State Championship. I thought I remembered that one of the penalties that were recently imposed on MBA was forfeiture of that Championship? Maybe I am wrong and it is just Football they had to forfeit. Does anyone know for sure? Maybe TSSAA just hasn't gotten around to redacting it from all the record books?
  5. I guess you are just ignoring the fact that the majority of his last two teams came to Ensworth in Pre-first grade while Ricky was still coaching at MBA. He had nothing to do with recruiting those boys although I guess there was probably some smart admissions person that could recognize that a 5 year old was going to be a good high school basketball player. EHS did not have the second best talent this year. Probably not even in the top 5. It was a rebuilding year and they played a lot of young players that got better. His 6-10 players would have set the bench or been cut from most other schools teams. But, because Ricky coached them up and played a lot of people they got better during the year. He is far and away the best most liked coach (by the players he coaches) in TN and no one is even a close second and he would win wherever he coached. If any other school had a chance to hire him their current coach would be gone in a heart beat. Lastly, he does not need to recruit. If someone is a good athlete and an above average student that can do the work at EHS they come look at the school on their own. Financial aid is provided if there is need and they qualify. EHS provides financial aid in the same range as all the other D2 schools (its public record just go look it up)
  6. Funny how every D2 AA topic comes around to being about Ensworth..... For the record, last years EHS basketball team had 7 players (4 starters) that came to Ensworth in pre-first grade. The only exception being Corn. Granted Corn is a great player but every school in D2AA has at least 1 child that came in high school because at least partially they were great athletes. The main difference at EHS is Ricky coaches them up and they become better than the competition. This years EHS basketball team had 4 players that came in pre-first and two that came in 7th grade. All but maybe two players on this team will not play in college (one in D3) so EHS is not getting top notch basketball prospects, just good (not great) athletes that play their hearts out for Coach Bowers. This year was a re-building year with 1 freshman and 4 sophomores seeing significant playing time and no true post player on the team. Guess what, they still won. If Ricky coaches any team in D2 AA (except for maybe JPII) they win. It's not because he has better talent, he's a better coach than everyone else, period.
  7. You asked about multiple years so I answered you. If you go back and read my post the only pre-season injury I referenced was Tollison (1 week before the first game)the others were during the season. Additionally, these injuries happened at a time when Ensworth had to dress all their freshman to have enough players to look like a D2 AA team. What no one ever mentions is MBA has more than twice as many boys as Ensworth. Most EHS boys play both ways becuase of this. One injury to EHS is like two or three to MBA.
  8. Just like last year right? Oh, sorry, you lost to Ensworth last year didn't you? There might have also been another public school out that direction (can't remember their name)that lost to EHS also.
  9. Does anyone have any predictions for D2 E/M Region? I hear Father Ryan and JP II will be good again this year but haven't heard about anyone else.
  10. I hear Pearl Cohn is very good this year and has 8-10 potential D1 players. I would expect them to be very athletic and MBA to be well coached. If Simonis is 100% will be a deciding factor. My prediction is that Simonis will not be 100% and Pearl Cohn will have too much speed for MBA. Should be a great game. Final score: Pearl Cohn 28 MBA 14
  11. 2007 Tavares Jefferson, separated shoulder in MBA game missed entire season. 2008 Cody Tollison as a Jr. was slated to be the starting QB and had an ACL before the season started. Rodney Anderson had an ACL early in the season (the other knee from this year). Daniel Mc Fadden starting TE & DE ACL early in the season. 2009 Jacob Carter, Safety, WR broken collar bone mid-season, Cory Sacks, DB, WR back injury pre-season missed first 4 or 5 games, Smithy McClain, OT Concussion, out for season, Calvin Settles, OT, DT ACL out for season. I'm sure there were others but this are off the top of my head. The reason you may not recall any of this is because very little was said about it. Ricky just lines up and plays with who he has.
  12. Ensworth has had a number of key injuries every year and has still managed to remain competitive. I guess that's why Ricky has such a high winning percentage. Murphy Fare has him listed as number 2 winning percentage in the state at over 80%. They have already lost one of the top safeties in the state (Rodney Anderson). They are actually much deeper than they have ever been with over 50 boys on the team between 10-12 grades. A couple of years ago they had 50 boys including 23 freshman. Just like every other team if they lost a couple more of thier best players it would hurt bad.
  13. Ensworth beat Anderson County in Cookeville at TTU 41-7. They threw for 4 TDs and ran the ball really well. Don't know how good Anderson County is this year so it may not be a good comparison. Ensworth held out several starters to make sure they were ready for Oakland on Friday night.
  14. Almost forgot my predictions; 1. Ensworth (probably no surprise here) 2. BA 3. Baylor 4. McCallie 5. MBA 6. Father Ryan 7. BGA 8. JP II West 1. Briarcrest 2. MUS 3. CBHS
  15. I know it was Anderson County (I think they were pretty good last year in 5A) and only a scrimmage, but Campbell completed a very high percentage of his passes (somewhere in the range of 15 out of 20) over 200 yards and three touchdowns last night in Cookeville. I will look at the tape and get exact numbers this weekend. Final score was 41 - 7. Based upon this game he sure looked like he belonged on the list.
