  1. I think GC ought to play their first round game there at UTM. I wouldn't have a problem with it.
  2. All at a HS setting. All I am saying is AllVol talking about UTM being a tough place to get accustomed to. Well they get to play District there and Region so they get to get accustomed to it.
  3. Read the post right above this one. AllvolHere started it by talking about the different venue. We hadn't got to Gleason yet. You guys hadn't beat them yet either. We got work to do ourselves.
  4. This how this conversation got started. You a Greenfield Fan supporting my argument. All four teams obviously struggling shooting.
  5. GC and their coach don't care where they play either. Other fans on this thread brought it up because none of yow could throw the ball in the ocean last night. Not a coincidence everyone shot bad. College venue is a different venue.
  6. 13 A ought to be playing their District in a HS setting. GC's is not scared of anybody. Not fair to us, TCA Peabody or ??? and other people in this thread say it is a definite advantage.
  7. You think Greenfield and 13 A would have 0 problem with GC and 14 A playing District and Region in the same college venue at UTM? Their ought to be a bylaw against it. 13 A ought to playing their District Tournament at Greenfield or ??? GC's coach is fine with it obviously but let's not pretend it is not an advantage. Neither team could throw the ball in the ocean last night.
  8. I don't think GC has a problem playing anywhere, any time. GC has held huge crowds and always has. Girls and Boys. But the fact that 13 A got to play their District Tournament at the same college venue that the Region is is totally crossing the ethical lines, IMO. Ought to be a bylaw that wouldn't allow it. But it is what it is and we will use it as motivation I am sure providing we get there. I think GC has been OK with it because they have a don't care who they play when they play attitude. How do you think Greenfield and 13 A would have reacted if 14 A was having all there's at the same college venue? They wouldn't have allowed it.
  9. No doubt about it. It is very obvious that 13 A wants no part of playing a Region tournament at GC. I honestly don't know how it got passed but all I was saying is that is what we were fed and we have to go in and take care of business. All I am saying is as a parent or a coach it is not a good thing to plant a seed in a players head that they may be at a disadvantage not playing there like others will. Also hard to practice there now as another poster alluded because we have business to take care of in our gym. Hopefully if we get there Coach will handle accordingly. We all know as fans it is definitely an advantage for 13 A. That is fine though. Very obvious Region wants no part of playing it at GC and we got fed an old sandwich.
  10. Yeah we all knew about it and have discussed it among parents and brought it to Coaches attention. But it is hard to tell players and plant a seed to them that they may be at a disadvantage. GC plays there every summer and has played well at times. Don't you imagine that Coach is on top of that already?
  11. We obviously got work to do to get there, but I imagine GC's coach would make arrangements to get players use to it. First round is Thursday. Second round is Saturday. Would only have a day and half maybe to work out. We play there every summer and have played well at times on that floor. But we have to get there first.
  12. Yeah it definitely helps but they also have to go back to a regular gym for a game. Teams will have to attack the basket early and often and not be so dependent on the three. Know Gleason and Dresden missed a bunch of threes. Dresden hit more it seemed than Gleason.
  13. Yeah we play there every year in the summer. Definitely different than the girls are used to.
  14. Union City is one of those teams that plays to the level of their competition. They are talented and always play us tough. IMO win and advance this time of year. We play games a lot where we don't play well but win. Sign of a good team when you don't play well and still win by double digits. Sounds like all the teams didn't particularly shoot the ball well, especially the second game.
  15. They won by 24 points. Not bad for a team that struggled.
  16. Loretta has always had a history of having good teams. I will say this. If she is better than Chloe Moore as a freshman, she is good. But Moore would get my vote alone on what she did in Murfreesboro last year and I think most people will vote for her because they will judge her the way she handled her team last year. IMO a Miss Basketball is how she plays on the big stage. The kid at Loretta I have heard is a player for sure but she is a freshman and I imagine many people will vote without seeing her play.
  17. Chloe Moore is a Miss Basketball winner IMO. She actually won it last year showing everyone how good she was in the state. Butler showed out for GC going 70-1 and two Gold Balls and not winning it. Whoever wins it doesn't mean they are the best player that is for sure.
  18. Yes we have had a few to have it. Our back up PG missed TCA last Monday. We have had others to have it as well. Prayers sent for healthy teams throughout state.
  19. Yeah I remember that now that you brought it up.
  20. I do like the fact that GC's post play and in the paint scoring is getting tons better last two games. The more they score in the paint the more GC will have uncontested three's. I do think GC's defense will turn it up even more in tournament play. It is Tournament time and anything can happen. We seen a big upset last year when Gleason knocked off Greenfield. TCA, Peabody, Gleason, Dresden will all be tough outs.
  21. I would agree that TCA is talented but GC is loaded with good players 10 deep. I thought last year TCA would have gave Greenfield a good game. It is going to be interesting to see what happens. GC's defense is consistent for 4 quarters and it causes problems. GC's defense has only gave up 50 or more three times and was 2-1 with only loss coming to Dyersburg in OT. They give up 50's to South Side and won. Give up 51 to Humboldt but third team played 4th quarter and we won big. Only give up 40's 7 times. So out of 29 games 19 of them their defense gave up less than 40 points. Reason I have said all along if GC' offense gets going they are going to be trouble because their defense is stingy. TCA has depth as well and is a handful whoever they play. I am just going to set back and watch. Lots of good teams. I am with you. Prayers to all for guardian angels around all players to keep them injury free and fans as well.
  22. Just because they are in a weak district doesn't mean they can't play. Lot of districts out there with teams that are not that good. This is a Single A class where nobody ought to be overlooked. Any body on a given day can be beat.
  23. Good team no doubt You know as well as me anything can happen up there. In 2010, we beat a good South Green team by 35 and the next day we had to come back down 19 to McMinn Central. I know here in West TN you can get beat any day. There is about 6 or 7 Clay Counties. We are taking 1 game at a time here.
  24. All I care about is the Gold Ball. When Heather Butler didn't win it after what she did at GC I never took a lot of validity in this award.
