  1. I am thankful to the good Lord to have watched these girls and I appreciate the compliment. I have said many times Greenfield is the champion until beaten. We have played well the last two games especially offensively, but Greenfield, Gleason, TCA, Dresden, Loretta, Clarkrange are all playing well too. We have to get out of here first, which is not a given. But I appeciate the compliment. Our girls are very fundamental and unlike some of the past GC teams don't have that star player or players but have several good players and just grind it out until the end.
  2. Yeah the regular season is over. AP doesn't dive a regular season Gold Ball.
  3. Thanks for the compliment. GC played with a ton of poise tonight. Peabody hit them in the mouth early and got off to a 9-2 lead. We were down 12-6 when we got out of man and went to a zone. GC was dialed in big time in their zone defense and went on a 23-9 run by halftime. Peabody got most of their buckets on that run on stick backs. Their post is a beast. Thought GC handled their press very well too. Post play for GC is getting better as well. Started getting better against TCA. Overall good win for our girls. Very proud of them.
  4. Great win for Macon County. You guys Region about like ours. Tough to get out of. Good luck!!
  5. I think it is very obvious the most consistent and poised team playing well will win it. Going to be interesting because you don't have dominant teams and any thing can happen like you said. West TN is loaded with teams that can knock you out in a heart beat. Clarkrange is obviously good across the river as is Summertown, Loretta and Clay. West TN has 6 teams in the region that are dangerous. Think it speaks well for the summer ball, AAU from elementary school up that has made West TN very competitive. We got a big one tonight for number one seed at Peabody.
  6. I appreciate the compliment. GC is not fancy and has a lot of good players not great. They play extremely hard and showed me the other night against TCA after they lost momentum on the phantom technical call what kind of heart they have. They looked the same in the 4th quarter defensively as they did the first maybe even stronger. I am very proud of this team and their efforts. Greenfield has a lot to be proud of as well. As does TCA, Gleason, Trenton, Dresden, Loretta, Summertown Clarkrange. Lot of good basketball teams this year.
  7. Think they were lucky to win the game because the technical changed the momentum for sure. 4 point swing. If they would have called a regular foul GC might have been leading at the end of three instead of down by 4. Shows the senior leadership and the character of this team. Could have very easily lost this game but didn't lose it's cool and turned it up two notches in the 4th quarter. Showed the area why it is ranked number 1. I have gained an utmost respect for TCA in this loss than I did in their win against us. They are a very good team and it wouldn't suprise me one bit they made a serious run whoever they run into.
  8. Yeah and they still win. That was indeed one of the biggest BS calls I have ever seen. That ref ought to never be able to ref again. GC lucky to win that game. That call itself would have sunk most teams. TCA got tired late I thought and the two or three TO's late cost them. But they are a good team and Ned to be in the top 5 in the state. They can beat anybody in the state.
  9. Fuller is a player. That will help you tremendously.
  10. Called a technical on a personal foul. What a joke. Swung momentum for a bit. I will say this. TCA is for real folks. Their post play is tough. Really good team. GC played well on offense and had to claw until the end.
  11. Huntingdon is a Point Guard away from being real good. They miss Kasey Fuller in a bad way.
  12. When you get to Region, Huntingdon has gotten better and will not be a cakewalk. I imagine the runner up in the tournament will possibly meet them in the semis. Right?
  13. Keep in mind when GC was playing their best ball they played 10. TCA will play 10 or more tomm. Night and their core players will play most of the game. 10 players is not a lot if you use them right. He has used a number of different lineups this year. I have watched these girls a bunch and there is no drop off IMO. One of their bench players is averaging close to 10 points a game. I am just saying to play fast. If you get tired you got the depth. GC don't play well playing slow. Offensive production is what got GC beat last year scoring 3 points in the 4th quarter against Greenfield and only losing by 4 with a chance to tie with 20 seconds left. If they get put out this year, it won't be because of defense. I agree somewhat if it ain't broke don't try to fix it, but for heavens sake don't get beat by getting tired.
  14. When you got 10 players that can play, only makes sense. We got some good posts but we don't have a 6 foot 2 post that can score every possession like Westview has had in the past and can play a half court game. I like it when other teams want to press us. It gives us more space. Better get there early tomm. night. I have already had three or four people that have called and are going to this one. It is definitely the game of the night. It will be packed.
  15. I know we beat Greenfield and Westview twice and South Side and we played more in attack mode on offense. Played really slow and IMO tried to run clock in the second half with an 11 point lead and it backfired first meeting. Bullshark even said it and he is not a GC fan I don't think. I don't think anyone in West TN is as good as South Side defensively. They are Peabody times two. I think coach thought he could hold the single digit lead late and keep yow in check and win an ugly game and it backfired and Trinity caused some TO's made a shot or two and we got beat. To be fair to TCA, you guys didn't play your best either and you won an ugly game. I know all the girls over there at TCA and the coaches and they are a class act and I honestly don't know what will happen because we are dealing with 16-17 year old girls. But you guys are playing well and may the best team win Round two of what could be more meetings between us.
  16. GC played very conservative first game I agree. And I think that was very out of character of them considering we played very different against Greenfield and Westview. I think GC will get revenge here. Can't see them playing the way they did first game. Season is a grind so I don't put one or two games as the gospel. I think they have played and coached well for most of season.
  17. No doubt Coble will use his depth and not scared to put 8th graders out there as did Greenfield last year. I said last time we played I thought our substitution pattern was horrible and didn't use our depth. I honestly think we will win the game if we use our depth. We have more depth than we have ever had with 10 quality players but if it don't get used it is no good. Trinity hasn't got the state recognition they deserve because most teams hadn't played them. They have not played Gleason, Westview, Greenfield, South Side, Dyersburg, Dresden... I would love to see you guys play Greenfield, Gleason...I know yow are good, but I wouldn't be happy if I was a player and played that schedule with all the blowout games.
  18. Trinity is a good team and well coached. I like the way GC played Friday Night offensively and like their chances. I did last time they played too and we see how that worked out. Trinity is always a tough game for us. We are 0-3 at GC High School last three games vs Trinity and 2-0 vs Trinity at their place last two games.
  19. I didn't jump on you brother. That was another post. Wasn't me. I just was maybe trying to figure it out myself but we have a good relationship with Kayla and Coach Colvin. They did beat us in a jamboree. I was saying Huntingdon must have taken their place. We don't play any AA teams on a two game set a year. I guess coach is wanting to get acquainted without Greenfield and Gleason's of the world before maybe meeting them in Region and state.
  20. We beat them by 15 in a 40 minute scrimmage 2 days before the jamboree. Jamboree they beat us by 10 in a 2 quarter game.
  21. I wished we did play Crockett and I don't know how the scheduling is worked but my guess is that Huntingdon turning into one of the major teams to beat the last two years might have taken their place in scheduling. We only play Westview once a year and played them twice this year because of their tournament. Dyersburg we played once on schedule and once in our tournament. We played McNairy in our Thanksgiving tournament. Dyersburg and Westview in my eyes are better teams last 10 years than Crockett. I know we have a great relationship with Crockett and play them often in summer and early November. We don't even play Obion, who is an old school rival that we quit playing a couple of years ago as well.
  22. Most definitely a plus. I guess the district went with the vote and a good one. You get to play two games in that bigger venue before Region. Little different scenery with lights and goal locations. Definitely don't hurt. Dresden and Gleason both are well coached and will be tough for anyone. Do you know the dates of the District Tournament?
  23. Isn't your district at UTM as well? Always a good thing for players to play on a college floor before the Boro. I know McMillan and Russell and maybe Wilkins had workouts at Vandy before the State.
  24. I don't like rankings and pay 0 attention to them. We got beat by TCA and we were still the number 1 team in the state because you guys and Clarkrange lost same week I guess. Go figure that. My rankings have you guys number 1 and the bullseye on you because yow are the defending champs.
  25. Yep you are right. If the tiebreakers are correct, which I haven't seen only read on here, looks like a loser leave town match between us and TCA. A GC win would keep Peabody mathematically alive if I am not mistaken. Winner of the district will likely see Halls or a bye in the quarters and Humboldt in the semis. One thing that definitely works in GC's favor that hasn't ever been the case I can remember in GC history is if we do see a foul happy crew GC is 10 deep and possibly 12 that they can throw at you and won't miss a beat. I know when it gets close to Tournament time some of these refs want to be seen and puts a lot of teams without depth in a big bind..
