  1. Demetrius Fields Played at Cleveland High 1997-2000 also won Ms Football award in 1999 and holds several rushing records at cleveland.
  2. Is Meigs gonna have any thing this Year.
  3. Well Scince I'm the only Meigs fan that has the Guts to post a reply here it is. Polk congrats to you guys, your a well coached team and hope you guys go deep into the playoff cause you guys have earned it year in and year out. And from what I've seen yall have the best team in the area hands down. But I will say this Meigs will play hard we always play you guys tuff just don't know how long. Meigs is a better team than what thier record shows and we've hand some tuff breaks this year and alot things haven't gone our way but it is what it is. We lost some guys that really could have help us this year The Bradford kid to Cleveland and the Frits kid to CAK and I dont think the team has got over those to guys givein up on them yet. We have some good players we just have to find ways to get them all on the field at the same time. Good luck Polk In the Playoffs.
  4. The rumer down south is He's Headed to CLEVELAND and Slauter is out.
  5. MC can't bust a grape between to helmets As for Seq. we beat them last year so we have every right to think we can beat them again this year and Loudon they can start the freshmeat if they wont to but it'll get real ugly real fast. Yea Loudon is good but they better be smarter than to start their Freshmeat.
  6. Forgive me for my spelling i ment (future).
  7. You got one thing right they will do the same thing they did last year, make to the secound round off the playoffs and get sent HOME. Sorry polk county fans NO STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS IN YOUR FUTHER.
  8. Bradley has the best skill players but has no line. Cleveland cares only about one player and nobody else matters but at the end of the day WHO CARES.
  9. We got a kid from bradley I think he played linbacker qb may be his roll at Meigs. We lost two guys so fare the linemen really hurt us.
  10. I agree Polk will finish firts in district 5 AA, but thats all I agree with. I think Meigs will be second and no lower than third and here's why. Meigs dominated sequoah last year with a group of sophmores, now you cant tell it by the score but go back and look at the film, meigs should have scored at least two more times in that game. As for sweetwater we had them beat 12 to 0 going in at half time but bad coaching lost us that game and on top of that the starting tailback didnt play the firts half because he missed three days of practice with the flu. Guys don't over look Meigs this year they might not beat Polk but everyone else will have a hard time beating them. They only lost two starters on both sides of the ball and with the new coach in place that has already got the respect off the team behide him they'll be hard to beat the next to years. (Except for polk they still got aways to go befor they beat Polk)
  11. Curt Jones is coming back to the Chattanooga area. The former Central coach has been hired as the football coach at Meigs County. "His resume didn't come until about three weeks ago and when I saw it I remembered coaching against him," Meigs principal Clint Baker said. "I remember watching him and thinking what a great leader. I felt he was on the right track then and I definitely wanted to check that resume." Upon leaving Central following the 2004 season, Jones returned to Texas, his home state. He has been in the carpet industry, working first for Mohawk and then the last year for a family-owned company in the Houston area. "I'm excited. Everything happened so quickly. It has been a whirlwind," said Jones, who headed back to Texas this afternoon with hopes of being back in Decatur and ready to hit the ground running on Monday. Jones met with the players Wednesday afternoon with hopes of beginning evaluations, but the Tigers will run some variation of the spread offense. "I don't know whether it will be one-back or two- but we'll decide that after we get to know the players. We'll do what they're best suited for," he said. Jones coached at Central from 2000-2004 and put the Purple Pounders in the playoffs twice. His best season was 2003 when they went 8-4 and beat Powell in a first-round playoff game before losing to Maryville. An outspoken coach, Jones crossed swords with the Hamilton County schools hierarchy and wound up resigning after an injury-decimated 2004 team finished 2-8. "I cherish the moments I had with those kids and I cherish what we were able to do for that school and that program. We were able to accomplish a lot of goals in a short amount of time, but I am a wiser person and I am probably more reserved now," he said. Baker and Meigs County schools director Don Roberts met with Jones earlier this week. "He is one of those people meant to coach," Baker said. "He is a good leader, a good person and a good coach." Jones has kept his hand in football. His elder brother is athletic director at a large junior high a Houston suburb. Kent Jones, his younger brother and a former University of Tennessee at Chattanooga player, is offensive line coach at Katy, Texas, which has won three of the state's last five 5-A championships. Jones has helped them, especially in the summers with 7-on-7 practices. "I knew early on when I left coaching and pursued sales that coaching was my passion," Jones said. "I tried to quell that passion but I could never get away from that pull." One major change from Central, Jones said, is that Meigs County boosters are interested and love their football. "I have kept my eye on this area and knew there were only a couple of schools I would be interested in coming to. I am coming to a community where a passion is already there. These people love their football," said Jones. "We have to sell a house in Houston so we'll live with my wife's parents for the time being, but I want live in and be a part of this community." Jones replaces Stan Eller, who spent two seasons in his second stint as Meigs' coach. Share/Bookmark This Page

  13. Don't get me wrong Polk is a good team but lets be real, For them to make it to the state they gotta get past ALCOA and that ant happen, and befor they get to ALCOA they gotta get past Loudon or CAK. Besides that they don't have the team speed it takes to make it to state.
  14. It's a shame that all the kids are leaving the program, I went to the spring game last week and they looked good considering this is there third new offense they've had to learn. They have a chance to have a winning season if they all stay together they wont beat Polk but they could still go 9 and 1. Losing the Bradford kid hurt but not as bad as losing linemen. The running game is most of the offense and if we keep losing guys up front we wont be able to that. Theirs some promise in this group of boy but everyone is giving up on them and now their giving up on themselfs. Baker PLEAS HURRY AND MAKE A DECISION.
  15. Some guy named Tommy Rewis might be the front runner for the job. He's the offensive coordinator for Ravenwoods JV team. Don't know how true it is but thats the latest. Seems like everytime a new name pops up about this coaching job we end up playing the waiting game before we find if they won't the job, I say give to the guy that wont's it RICKY HOLIDAY.
