  1. I'm sure it was the Burger King Express. His little brother plays on one of the Boone peewee teams. He played with my son last year with the Jr. Toppers and he is also a lefty that runs and throws good and plays linebacker. Someone told me he was helping coach Kirby's team.
  2. Went to this game because I thought it would be the best game in the area. Saw Boone play a couple of times last year and this did not look like the same Boone team. I sat on the Boone side because I know a couple of the parents. What was the deal with Jenkins and Boone? Boone's defense was completely different from last year and according to the fans from the last two weeks. He changed his whole defense because of South according to the fans. Did he let it get to him and change too many things? I don't understand why they don't move the big DE outside and let him blitz more. South was able to get a hand on him and double team him with him being in. With that in mind, why is #16 not playing quarterback any more? He only played 2 series the entire game and ran the ball one time. The fans said that is the first time he has run it all year. He was a beast last year and he was hard to stop. What is the deal? I also heard they were going to have both QB's in the game at the same time, never happened last year. Boone still can't play defense against the pass. TEams will kill them with the pass this year. South looked great in their passing. They still have no rushing game except #12 running the ball. If he goes down, they are in trouble. South impressed. Boone wsa disappointing. I thought they would be the team to beat and may be in the end but Jenkins was outcoached in every area of this game. Some fans believe he put too much pressure on the kids and allowed it to change everything that has been effective. Maybe he needs to get back to #16 at qb more and running the ball. They blitzed a lot last year and very little this year. #7 for Boone looked good but that was at the end and wonder if South had let up a little. If he is going to QB why would you not have the other two at receivers. 2 6'3" receivers would be hard to defend.
  3. Hey Coach. BTW, I know you are the wrestling coach for SHHS who verbally attacks kids from other teams and tries to start stuff from your dugout. You are a joke and embarrassment to your own players who know you know nothing about baseball, they just let you hang out. I have said nothing about Daniel not being a great player. I just do not think Edwards is a good coach. I'm not a fan of the advisors that Daniel has and the impact they have on the team, Daniel, and Edwards. Yes, Daniel has some things that need to be fixed and I believe the EC Yankees coaches will fix them. I'm also confident Daniel would tell you the same thing. He has been very inconsistent in his pitching the last several weeks. He got pulled against Daniel Boone because of too many walks and getting hit by one of the lower teams in the conference. It seemed that when his buddy, Kevin, hit him in the first inning that it seemed to take something out of him. He also had too many walks in the conference tournament. At one point he had 9 k's and 7 walks and 2 hit by pitches. EC will help him get his motion back consistent. You are just trying to take care of your boss who is getting a lot of heat for making some very questionable calls this year. He has depended on Jeff for the past couple years and now there is no one to help him make those tough calls, except two advisors.
  4. Entreri, I would disagree about the not so talented group. Of the players coming back, DAniel, Zach, Will, Nick, and Jeffrey were on the Jr. Toppers. They were one of the top teams in the nation. Kevin also played on the Kingsport Select team that played a lot of tough teams. So, to say they did not have the talent is a joke. They have played some of the top teams in the US. They also have the #1 player in the nation for 2011.
  5. As some would say about me, I'm not an Edwards fan but I am a Norris supporter. He is a competitor. The problem is I believe there are others dictating who does what on the Science Hill game. There are two ADVISORS that are at almost every game, for sure every big game. They talk to Edwards and Norris after every game. It has been said that they tell Edwards when and how to pitch Norris. He wants to pitch the big games and face the big teams. The sad part is that as the best pitcher in 2011 he was 6-0 on the year. They will say 8-0 but there is no way he gets the win yesterday after being pulled in the 2nd and then brought back. It has to go to the 4 inning guy. How does the best pitcher in 2011 class only have 6 wins on the year. Others can say what they want but he has been pulled in many games where it seemed he would lose. Boone being the obvious one where he was knocked off the mound in the 4th. The advisors were seen ripping Edwards a new one after the game for pitching him in the rain and then pulling him in the 4th. If they are not pulling the strings, it sure appears that way. I say let the kid show what he has and prove that he is the man, like I believe he is, win or lose. I will say it again, there is no way Jeff Reed would have taken this from anyone. And in no way do I believe Daniel is responsible. He just wants to play ball. I also believe if it was left to him, he would be playing football this fall.
  6. What sour grapes would there be? Are you an Edwards boy?
  7. Slacker is a grown man not related to Science Hill but a regular attender of games. If you think that D-No has not been pulled to save him from losses then you need to put down the Hill kool-aid. Even many of the players from the last two years will tell you that he has. It is not Daniel's fault, he wanted the ball yesterday but Edwards was doing what the advisors told him to do. Don't do anything that might get him a loss. Daniel wants to compete and prove that he has the stuff but Edwards and the advisors are afraid of what will hapen to his standing if he is beat. Again, I'm not bashing Edwards except it is funny that he pitched him 180 innings in two days and yet said he could not pitch yesterday on 3 day's rest because he threw 113 pitches on Friday. Get real. It works when it is good for you but doesn't when it is not. The EC Yankees will get Daniel straightened out this summer and be ready to go. I wouldn't be surprised if he opted not to play his senior year and get ready for the draft.
  8. They will not pitch Norris if they think he will lose. They have done it for 3 years. They will pull him before he can take the loss if they are losing. They will do whatever it takes to keep his record. That is why he only has 6 wins. One of the wins they are counting is the first game of the conference tournament where they pulled him after 2 and the next pitcher pitched 3. Everyone gave the reliever the win except Science Hill. At least 6 games or more this year, they pulled him because they were afraid he would take a loss. They have nothing else pitching consistently so they might win when he pitches but that will be it.
  9. When Daniel was interviewed, he said his legs were hurting but his arm felt good. When your legs are hurting as a pitcher, the arm is doing different things. Edwards was quoted as telling Norris to quit worrying about his mechanics and just throw the ball. He was trying to throw too much with good technique and he needed to just throw the ball for strikes. Great quote. And I don't know about the squeezing part. He did not pitch good against Boone two weeks ago and was pulled in the 4th because of walks and getting rocked. That is why he only has 3 wins this season. He has struggled and been pulled so he would not take a loss. How do you have 10 starts and only 3 wins and no losses. He is a great pitcher but needs to work on throwing strikes and not just throwing hard. He is either striking people out on pitches outside the zone or walking people. When teams takes pitches, he has a lot of walks. I'm sure East Cobb will solve part of this and part of it will be reducing his pitching during the summer. I wonder if Daniel will pitch tonight or tomorrow if needed to win a game?
  10. You're right Farragut. As I have said, this is not a bash of Edwards but a wake-up call to all coaches that they have the health of high school young men in their accountibility. Parents intrust their young men to these grown men to take care of them. I have never seen anything bad from Edwards until last night. I have heard good things about him and believe he is a good man who made a bad decision in the moment. I hope he and others will learn from this lesson.
  11. He threw 146 today and 34 Saturday. Added together that means 180. I will do the math for you. I have coached and would never pitch a kid that many in one game or two games in 3 days. Sounds like you are Edwards or one of those guys who does not care about kid's health. I just think this is about kid's health. it is situations like this that are going to lead to a pitch count being placed in high school baseball.
  12. Will has not pitched in conference tourney
  13. This is not a witch hunt. It is a wake up call. Edwards did not think this through. Jeff Reed would have never have let Daniel throw that many pitches after throwing 34 2 days earlier. I believe that Edwards let his desire to win override his protection of the player that was given to him. The fact that he was a college coach should mean that he would know better. There is no way that a college coach would pitch a player 180 pitches plus 9 innings of warmup pitches in 3 days. We tell our teenagers to know what they will do before they are in situations so that they make good decisions. I hope all coaches will read this and know that this is not an accepted practice in high school athletics. I hope Edwards will realize that he put Daniel's arm at risk for a win. There is not a high school game, even a state championship, that is worth putting a player's health at risk. I suggest you read about arm injuries and all the specialists will say that there needs to be pitch counts to protect the players. Daniel is a competitor and would never pull himself. That is why we pay adult coaches to make those tough decisions. What if there is permanent damage? Is a no-hitter game against Crockett worth that?
  14. No. I disagree Coach. When a kid has thrown 34 pitches and warmed up 2 days earlier, then throws 146 pitches in a day that is abuse. There is not a playoff game that is worth hurting a kid's arm, especially a kid who is projected as a first round draft pick. This was abuse. I can't believe that they would do this as much as they have protected Daniel's record. He is a great pitcher but he will not be if Edwards continues this. As has been stated, his advisors will probably suggest to him to not play next year for Edwards if this is how he is going to treat him. It is called being a man and telling him you care more about him than a win, but I reckon that is not the case. Edwards is more concerned with wins than players.
  15. I know Reed would not have allowed Daniel to pitch that many pitches. Almost 200 pitches not counting warm ups in 4 days is rediculous. I can not believe that the Science Hill fans or Daniel's parents would allow Edwards to risk his arm for a non-elimination game. I know for a fact that Edwards pitched a fit when Daniel played for the Jr. Toppers and pitched 114 pitches in a Dizzy Dean world series championship game. What is Edwards thinking? What is Science Hill thinking?
