  1. You are correct RedSwarm10, and I am not interviewing for this major reason. Family comes first and we do not feel that I could offer the program 100% of my time when my heart is somewhere else. Springfield is a great community, and I really have enjoyed my time coaching for the Jacket Family, however, my family comes before football and the hours were too much. Good luck to the District 10 family, for I will be headed another direction myself. So to let everyone know, I am not in the hunt for this position at Springfield High School, and I wish nothing but the best for the community of Springfield and the Yellow Jacket Program.
  2. I have last interview with Clarksville Academy Monday, and the football head coach is my mentor and father figure. Todd Hood is someone I can learn under to advance myself in years to come. Feels like a good fit.
  3. Come on Mac, you know TheCoachChris is me Coach Christopher C. Southerland, and I was not fired. I choose to resign my position due to personal reasons and wanting to be closer to family and home. My life follows this path: God, Family, Work, and then the University of Kentucky. Working 50 minutes from my home has been tough on family the past 4 years, and my wife and I have choosen for me to come back home and work closer to what is most important in life behind God. That is my family! I love Springfield, but I love my family more!
  4. First of all I personally hope people see how much Kelly has done for the Program. When we first arrived there was alot of issues, and now things have been structured. My fear is how will the boys take to his news. Granted there were disagreements, but at the end of the day Coach Myers is the head coach. He has done a great job, and I hope for the best for him, but my reasons for leaving are family. I choose my family over a 2 hour trip to and from work each day. That is my reason for leaving the program!
  5. Springfield is a good place to work, but sometimes it is better being closer to home. West Creek has choose to go another direction, and Clarksville Academy has not offered me a position. However, if given the opportunity to work closer to home I will accept. I love Springfield, the community, and have enjoyed coaching defensive ends, special teams, and help where it is asked of me. At the end of the day my heart is missing home, and being closer to my family and not driving an hour to and from work has been a big factor in my choice to reach out and interview in Montgomery County. There is no definate decision at this moment, and if I do accept a position in Montgomery County I only wish the best for the Springfield Community and football program. As any choice in life, this is going to be a tough decision that I will make with help from my wife. In the end home is where the heart is, and I am truly missing home.
  6. The word is that neither of the named schools is the job to go for in Clarksville. All the hype seems to be coming from Clarksville Academy! Why are they not loosing coaches in Clarksville? Maybe Clarksville messed up when they allowed Hood to go to the Academy! Seems to be creating a heck of a staff! Maybe the county will watch how he runs a program and model him in the future. Think Hood is doing a heck of a job!
  7. I love Springfield, but I really would have liked to guide a program in my home town. There will come a day that someone gives a guy like me a chance, and that day I will remember all the failed attempts along the way. Good luck to all these program in Montgomery County with their new leaders. In respect of a great coach I once worked for, "You need to know failure to find success!" Congrats to the new head coaches in Montgomery County.
  8. Congrats to Coach Mac! He is a good man, and I bet his defenses are going to be tough. I am happy he finally gets his opportunity. Good luck brother, and maybe we will cross paths in the near future.
  9. I would love to attend this game. One of these teams just may win it all. I think it is Henry Countys to lose, and I do wish them all luck tomorrow night. Just know what it means to that community, and your boys are a class act. Much respect to your coaches, and I hope next year we can give you a good game here in Springfield. One way I would attend is if I was able to meet the great TheRedWarrior, and be offered some dove meat in front of the locker room tail gate. I just hope in the future our program will be as exciting as the Patriot Nation. Happy Thanksgiving to Jacket Nation, Patriot Nation, and Commando Nation. Better stop #20 and #3 from Hendersonville or will be a tough night. Just dont know how their defense will match up to Ray and the boys. I see this game as Patriots 34 - Commandos 14 in the end.
  10. Red Warrior you are 100% correct. Plus it seems like a school in Clarksville is good for a few years then go back to bad to average teams. Northeast is coached very well, have good athletes, and are winning games. So that makes them pretty good in my opinion with a really good QB leading the Swarming Eagles. Would be nice to come away with a "W" tonight, but this Eagle team is really impressive. I do believe Henry County is the team to beat in the middle to west of the state. As stated about Northeast, the Patriots are winning, have good athletes, coached very well, and you got to love the fan support from the Big Red Nation. Say what you will about our staff at Springfield, but I believe every team should have that type of support week in and week out. Good luck tonight, and see you guys in two weeks. By the way, Red Warrior dont stop being you. It makes for some great reading and that is what this site was created for years ago. You are a devoted fan to this sport and your team, and I appreciate your comments. Never disliked the Patriots, love the town, hate the drive, and enjoy the history of the program. You guys make this a fun district!
  11. It breaks my heart to see things like this happen to good young men. I sit here and think what could I have done better to help this young man, and why did this great young man's friends, family, team, and community have to suffer this loss? We at Springfield thank you for your prayers. Coach Myers and our staff believed he was a promising young man that practiced everyday, played on our JV championship team, and was not a starter, but NEVER missed a day of practice or game all year long. This is a loss not just to our program, but a loss to our society. More student athletes should be like this one! Did not start, but was the first to run in on scout team or fill a spot in the JV games all year and NEVER complained. I will miss you, and you made me a better coach for having coached you! My prayers go out to all those families that have lost a loved one due to a tragic accident. Parents need to cheerish every moment with their children, and coaches need to get to know every player on their team. We don't know what tomorrow brings, but I sure enjoyed laughing a joking and coaching this young man this year. I thank you for being a great part of not only my life, but the life of everyone that was blessed to have met you. We at Springfield once again would like to thank you all for your caring words, and please keep this young man's family in your prayers! He will be missed!
  12. Northeast will drop out of district, and the district will move to 8 teams which 6 of these teams will be 5A and 2 will remain 6A.
  13. After Thursday all schools will have their district schedule, and then the teams can shuffle to schedule non-region games! Our district is waiting on the Northeast ruling to move to 4A, and if this happens we will only play 7 district games leaving 3 weeks of non-district games to play. I personally like this for the rival factor with schools. Coach Myers is trying to schedule teams that will prepare our program for the future, as well as, keep our in county rival. Don't be surprised to see Gallatin and Beech or Station Camp added to our schedule to prepare our team for the playoffs. Coach Myers believes that tough scrimmages in the Spring and Fall, and tough out of district games during the year makes your program better in the long run. So after Thursday teams will be able to go find games.
  14. As I have stated before, me and my wife will buy you dinner and enjoy conversation! I would like to talk football with you, and if you are a former coach with state championships I could probably learn from you. However, you are so consumed with Springfield it clouds you from the question ask to you! Now I said you are legit as a person, real, not fake, I did not reference that Gaddis knew you! I just said he knew of you when he was there. Now, are we going to meet up sometime, or are you going to hide behind your screen name. You called me out, and I am more than willing to sit down and talk sports, life, or health. Come on Red Warrior, what ya say? Nothing negative, just people meeting!
  15. It is no problem, I would really like to meet you! I just like meeting people. And from what Gaddis told me, your legit!
