  1. I just figured one of 3 things must have happened to you to make you such a "hater". 1. You wanted to coach at Farragut and Courtney said "NO"! 2. You went to Farragut and weren't good enough to play and rode the pine. 3. You sent your kid to Farragut and he didn't play as much you thought he should or where you wanted him. One of the Three.... Can't be Bearden, you would have been watching the Devrin Young show again last week. They are the only school that hates Farragut as much as you do.
  2. Wildthing, The coach you keep referencing is the closest thing we have to old school football and his ways motivate "most". The players respond to him better than any on the staff, he's a players coach. He pushes them, challenges, and could stand to clean up his language some, but he's effective. Parents don't always get all the "facts", just what their son's want them to know. Thanks for referencing how long you've been around, that makes two of us. I've been reading these posts a few years and felt like it was time to share my perspective and respond to a couple nay sayers that berate and put down the players on a regular basis. Doesn't look like you've been on here too long yourself from the post date I saw. You're right about kids not being about to make it if we treated them like we did 10 years ago. That's for most kids not just Farragut. The bottomline line on this team is simple. 1. The players need to step up and play motivated, inspired football. 2. The coaches need to adapt to the players they have and adjust the schemes around them. 3. Changes need to happen from players in wrong positions, play calling, putting best players on the field, etc. 4. Whether you call it leadership from players to coaches being more enthusiastic. Bottomline the morale of the team is not where it needs to be. Football is an emotional game, there has to excitement and belief. So it's not just the players or just the coaches.... both are out of sync. If not fixed, it will be a long year. The talent is there... not executing. I believe they can have a successful year... but change has to happen soon!
  3. Then you don't "know" the whole story! He's a great guy that cares for his players. He didn't get in trouble for getting the team fired up and keeping things fun. He said something he shouldn't have in front of the wrong person. As for Maryville and GQ... he gets on his players and so does the other coaches. I've got two good friends whose sons played for him. Very disciplined and expects a lot from his players. Doesn't yell and scream a lot during games.. you're right! But the Maryville coaches get after their players and they respond. This is NOT all about the coaches. Our players need to step up and be motivated! Right now, not a lot of type A personalities on this squad.
  4. You're definitely right about the player need to execute... our kicking game has struggled in every game. As for coaching comment; I've done my fair share and WON a lot! You should keep up with what you post. You seem to beat down this staff every chance you get. Look at it this way.. we have one thing in common. I like the coaching staff... they just need to be more open and make the necessary changes and look at the players they have and where they best fit within the team. As for like to hear yourself talk comment... you should read your own posts. You've got to be the most "negative" guy I've ever seen. Good thing we take what you say with a grain of salt. Still waiting on who your team is..... Is it a "secret"?
  5. I will agree to a point about toughness. I see "some" not all that don't lay it on the line or play through nagging or minor injury for the good of the team. As for being jacked up.. #35 is a great example of it. We need more players on the team to get emotional. Football is an emotional game... I don't see their coaches very emotional and it is a need for this group of players. I never seen or heard of a parent getting on these coaches about the way they talk to or motivate these players. I've been around this team for 3-4 years and see a real need for more energy and enthusiasm from the coaches. Ducette is the main one that gets them fired up. They love him! Need another example: I watched Rankin of Alcoa in multiple players faces challenging their heart and effort during this years scrimmage. All he does is WIN! This team had great leadership last year. It had players that would step up, be vocal, rally the troops, pick one another up or challenge the way someone was playing. This years team has some, needs more to turn things around.
  6. Hey Allvol!!! Lookin for me? I have a day job, not able to get on here and beat down kids for kicks. Looking for my opinion... here it is. I agree with most of these comments from ihavenofriends, former44... I see the same things. 1. Play the best 11 period. We need to play more players both ways to help the team. We definitely need #2 and #14 in the backfield more. 2. Make changes to the game plan (both offense and defense).. we're way too predictable. 3. The 3-5 stack is a joke! Teams have been running on us a will. We play zone and get crushed by good QB's. 4. Courtney needs to give up being the Def. Coridinator and run his team. This includes overseeing the offense. Give the defensive calling up to a coordinator and be the head coach. He's a great man... he needs to be more open to change. I"m a fan of the Admirals... we could easily to 2-1 and were in the DB game till the 4th quarter. I give Catholic credit, they answered the bell in the 4th quarter. It was a good game. Farragut is improving weekly, but the coaching staff needs to put the players in some better situations.
  7. As you already know... beating Oak Ridge has been one of the easier things we've done. I love how some of the Oak Ridge fans like to hand it out but can't take it. Quit living in the past... You act as if you've been dominating the scene as of late. Nobody cares about last decade or the 80's. As for the comment about being happy about the last 5 years. NO...I'm not on here to whine about the coaches or the schemes or any other excuse. We consistently win our share, and more than most. Does Farragut have a Football championship.. NO.. But, grown men beating down kids for being soft, short, etc... NOT necessary.... That's my beef. The kids at Farragut do their best every week and some of it they can't control. You have an opinion about the program or coaches.. I'm good... Talking about the kids.. unneccesary!
  8. Come on now Dragon... you only saw the other side of the 50 once during the scrimmage we had and that was the long pass play that our 3rd string safety tried to intercept. We're definitly not STATE champion material this year, but we smoked you guys and it looks like you got a good taste of DB Friday night.
  9. Well I see my buddy AllVol is popping off again about Farragut. Hey AllVOL, I did see the game Friday. The only thing that stopped that "soft" line, short players, and that other "blah blah" you mentioned were penalties, conservative play calling, and poor execution... Not Oak Ridge. The offense had several drives that were stalled and missed 3 field goals. Farragut had over 400 yards in offense to Oak Ridge's 260 yards. (FACT) They're young and getting better each week. So do all of us a favor and quit hating on the Admiral kids and find a new hobby on Friday nights. Take up chess or better yet, go watch YOUR team play. As I've stated on other posts, who's YOUR team? That seems to be a secret, I'd love to pick them apart as you seem to enjoy doing to Farragut. Because unless your Maryville or Alcoa.... You can't touch the run Farragut's had over the past 5 years. :
  10. Hey Allvol, Who's your team? All you seem to do is trash talk on teams like Farragut and Oak Ridge... I'm sure we can find PLENTY to say about your team... My guess is Webb or Catholic... You have an negative opinion about most West Knoxville teams. Let's hear about the team you support....
  11. Wow!!!! Allvol you must be an Admiral "hater"... you went from recapping the scrimmage to bashing the team. To your comment about Rankin leaving his starters at home, I don't believe he's as confident as you are about Friday. Looks like you spend a lot of time checking out Farragut, what's your beef? Besides Maryville and Alcoa, Farragut's had the best record around Knoxville. You're RIGHT... the admirals have fallen a bit short over the past 7 years. My question is they must have some talent or they wouldn't be getting to the 3 round of the playoffs year after year. I have no problem giving Alcoa their props.. they've proven to be a GREAT team. But to leave the starters at the house... Not even Alcoa is that good. Farragut down on experience? Yes... Down on talent? Think again....
  12. No Problem Turtle! AE will be solid. Too many turnovers... if they elimanate the turnovers, it's a different game. Farragut had their share of turnovers, but AE turned it over once going in to score. Defense was stout the first couple series, after that not as dominating. Looked like they got tired. Too many 2-way players, need to find some depth to give a couple starters a blow.
  13. You caught the best parts. AE did score 2 touchdowns against Farragut's back-ups. Farragut's back-ups added one more touchdown. The final score was 21-14 Farragut. AE wore down as the game progressed. Farragut's depth was a factor late in the scrimmage. AE played a lot of kids both ways, they were gased near the end. AE is the real deal. They were dominate early, Farragut had to adjust to their speed. After the first couple series, Farragut got things going. Concerns for Farragut are definitely with secondary and getting more push from the D-line. AE needs more depth, too many 2-way players. Some of their "big" lineman were walking around not being able to go full speed. They have a solid running game and surpisely good passing attack. AE defense was as billed the first two series, after that not a factor. Both teams had too many turnovers. (fumbles and interceptions) Good start for both teams.
  14. Farragut scored 3 touchdowns to AE 2 touchdowns. Farragut #1 offense scored 2 times and #2 offense scored once. AE scored both touchdowns on Farragut's #2 / back-ups defense. Both teams had fumbles and opportunities to score more, turnovers hurt both teams. AE started well and dominated early, looked like they got tired and Farragut wore them down after the first series. Lot's of AE players going both ways. AE looks to be good as billed. Farragut is going to be solid on offense. Farragut running game was solid and QB's did a nice job overall with passing game. They'll have to shore up the defensive front line and secondary to compete against the Maryville's and Bearden's this year.
  15. Admirals will sail... Ads reload every year. Too much talk about a down year.
