  1. Farrgut runs the spread, with an occasional TE set. They usually run 1 back, but sometimes 2 back. QB is a sophmore, who replaced the Junior starter after he tore his ACL, he has a good arm, but not much of a runner. Farragut is down to the third and fourth RB's due to injuries. Top WR is 5' 6" tall and is lightning in a bottle. Prior to the injuries Farragut's offense was run first and passed just enough to keep the D honest, now it's more balanced. Defense is a 3-3 stack with multiple coverages. They have the flexibility to bring pressure from all angles, or drop 8 in coverage. D-Line is a bit undersized depending on what personnel is in at the time. They only start 3-4 seniors on D, but rotate alot of players on their front 6. Kicket/Punter is the sophmore QB with a very strong leg. He puts most kickoffs in the endzone (very useful in neutralizing Bearden's Young).
  2. Give us some info on SCHS. What offense and defense are we going to see? who are their best players.
  3. Farragut is so banged up I'm not sure how they'll be able to match up. I don't know a thing about Sevier Co. but they won't have to have too much to be better than Farragut on paper. Heard Farragut has pulled up some select Freshman, now that their season is over, to bolster the roster. The one thing you can say about Farragut is they are battle tested with the schedule they've played. Defense should get a little boost from the added Freshmen, don't know if they'll get any help on offense, which they desparately need. RB Jackson Fain looked like he got a little banged up against WB, luckily he was ok enough to come back in later in the game. Anyone know his statis? Farragut RB's have really taken it on the chin this season.
  4. Farragut's Sophmore QB got his first career varsity start last week vs. LC, and it showed in the play calling. Hopefully tomorrow the staff will open up a little bit and let him throw it. I don't think they had 6 passing plays called last week, and the strength of this QB is his arm. I understand they wanted to protect his self confidence by not chancing any interceptions, but it looked offensively that they were playing with one hand tied behind their back.
  5. While King's strength lies in his arm, it's not like Farragut is subing in Peyton Manning. King is still a sophmore, and although kicking in all the games this season should ease some of the pressure, he still hasn't taken many snaps. Farragut will still have to rely on the run game to win. If anything happens to King I would think Perez will have to be the next option. I heard they pulled the freshman QB up for the remainder of the season, but I don't think he's a viable option. The senior #10 can't even direct the JV.
  6. I heard that Hannay has quit the team, so cowabunga dude that option is out. I can't understand why a starter would quit, I mean you really gotta not like football to quit when you're starting. #3 has proven to be a player you can't depend on, I heard he is keeping himself out, the ortho folks can find nothing wrong with him, maybe an MRI will tell for sure. Not sure why Fain seems to be the odd man out. He has loads of talent and seems to run the ball hard. Freeman is an anomolly, he's a senior, but never came out for football until the Spring. Don't know what he's really capable of since he's just doesn't have much experience. I have seen him lay the ball down, but it seems all Farragut's RB's have had that problem this year. What it all boils down to is that Farragut is just not that good this year across the board. They are very limited in playmakers. I'm still waiting on Perez to do something special this year, and hopefully he will with what little time the senior has left. I hope these next two games will be enough time to get things settled for the playoffs.
  7. With Farragut's skill set wrecked by injuries their only chance is to keep the scoring as low as possible. They have a kicker with a strong leg and must get some kind of points when the opportunity presents itself. IF they can slow down Maryville's rushing attack, and prevent Maryville from coverting on 3rd down (something Bearden and Catholic failed to do), Farragut may have a chance. There's no way Farragut can answer TD for TD if it turns into a track meet. The injury to Johnson hurts the worst as he played safety as well as RB. I'm gonna hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I think Maryville wins this one going away.
  8. No need to apologise Pepvol, no one is more atuned to West Knoxville entitlement than I am. One of the problems with Farragut's old region was that there were 5 different referee associations that Farragut had to deal with. I admit to a bias against the Anderson co Association due problems with playing Oak Ridge in the past,I never really had a problem with Blount Co.
  9. I agree Farragut has underachieved in the last few years, but this is definitely a rebuilding year. They usually only start 3 seniors on defense, and 2 on offense if you count Hudson at RB. I doubt they will be able to do much with Maryville, but they are improving as the season progresses. The Bearden win was a testament to the tough schedule they have played. Losing Johnson and Hudson will hurt, but one players misfortune is another players opportunity. I think what makes Maryville special is the players don't hope to make a big play when they need it, they expect to make the big play when they need it.
  10. Farragut has done a good job vs. Young in previous meetings. I think he got some yards, but was kept out of the endzone last year. I think the key is to minimize his long runs, like Maryville did. It's almost impossible to shut him down completely, but if you keep him off the sidelines you can keep his big play potential down. If Farragut can keep him between the tackles they have a good chance. Pressure on the QB will be just as important. Farragut has struggled most of the year applying pressure. Hopefully they will come out of their shell and run some of the blitzes they never run.
  11. From what I've seen of the Freshman team they have 2 stud RB's. They're not real fast, but real workhorses. If either of them pan out, and Fain gets straightened out, Farragut should be pretty set at that position for a few years. Unfortunately they are lacking in the young WR position. Next year Urevic will be a Senior, and I haven't seen anyone step up that could really take the load off him. Brown should be able to excel from the TE spot next year so that should keep the safeties in the middle of the field, and out of Urevic's way.
  12. It was kind of odd to see Farragut run so much of the 2 TE set, especially since both TE's also play LB, and felt Harper and Brown did wear down a little as the game progressed this week. I would imagine chasing #5 for Riverdale had something to do with it as well. I would be curious if they might consider moving Rule to RB next year to utilize his legs and King's arm at the same time. King is not much of a runner but if you want to put the best on the field at once this may be the best answer. Having Rule and Johnson both along side King would make the defense stay honest at least. Former44, what do you think?
  13. King no doubt has the best arm on the team, throws a really pretty ball, but he can't run the ball. In order for this offense to run as intended the QB needs to be able to run the ball, a la Tebow. Farragut did well with Browning for a couple of years only because he was so good at throwing. From what little I've seen of the freshman QB, he may have both qualities.
  14. I thought Freeman ran very hard against West, but I think you have to consider his carries were on the last possession and West's defense was very tired. I agree that Hudson gets too many carries given his fumbling issues. It should be close to the time for Johnson's cast to come off so maybe his role on offense will increase. Perez has been a little disappointing, I guess I was expecting more of an all around utility player from him, kinda like Bush when he was at USC. He hasn't made any plays that I can remember in the passing game. I'm surprised that they don't throw to him from out of the backfield. Rule can be a real weapon running the ball, but until he proves he can be consistent throwing it teams will continue to stack the box make running the ball difficult. It appears Farrgut is using more TE sets than I've seen in the past.
  15. I assume Riverdale is still running the wing-t. Oddly Farragut went to the defense they currently run several years ago to combat the fact that 5-6 teams in their region ran the wing-t. Farragut's defense is playing much better than they did earlier, but their offense is still spotty as turnovers continue to be a problem.
