  1. I feel your pain!! Don't think for a second you have the only school with this problem. I think the problem is when the band director forgets that the school has a marching band and not a competition band. I for one think that if there is a football game then the band MUST attend! I also understand that the kids in the band do compete, and for the most part this is how they really get rewarded for their accomplishments. Tullahoma has the best band I saw this year and I can understand why they would want to compete for something more than applause. I guess I am on the fence on this one!
  2. I listened to the show tonight and I thought yall lightly touched on the problems with the PA announcer. I was at the game and I honestley didn't notice the problem that has some so upset. I thought the PA announcer was very excitable but that is just home field advantage. The remarks about the band and the horn is what just floored me! The horn was in the endzone and looked to me like it was pointed toward both sides and I didn't see where it harmed either team or fans. The band not being there seemed a little unusual but I did see horns and people playing them. I guess what I am a little amazed at is that I am finding it hard to believe that Tullahoma is complaining about these things on here. Tullahoma is better than that and I am a little disappointed. Tullahoma had a great year but got beat by a better Columbia team.....end of story!
  3. I can go along with some of what you are saying but the part about shutting down the districts best player is crazy! I think he had soemthing like 183 yards and two touchdowns! Other than that I would like to give a big hand to Tullahoma. Yall are truely deserving!
  4. Jared is absolutely Tullahoma's motor! I am not aware of Jared having any health issues though. Is there something about Jared that I have missed?
  5. As bad as I hate to say it, I agree with your outcome! Knox Catholic 28 Columbia 14
  6. Come on now......I didn't mean that to be so serious! I was just reviewing the previous game and I wasn't sure what Volfan was needing to be clarified. If it makes you feel any better, I actually think LCHS takes this game in a close one despite how badly they played the first meeting. I have seen both teams play a few times each and I was shocked at how both teams played. Tullahoma played way over their heads and LCHS played way under theirs. I thought T'town would take the first game since they were at home but not like they did. I feel like this will be a close one, maybe even some free football at the end.
  7. I think what they are trying to say is this: "Tullahoma’s defense was outstanding indeed, limiting the high-powered Lawrence Co. offense to only 160 yards, with 46 of those yards coming on one play. The visitors only completed one pass for seven yards, and the district’s leading rusher Trent Garland, who came in averaging 139 yards per game, was held to only 110 yards including the 46-yard gallop. The Wildcat offense matched the defensive performance against a very tough and physical Lawrence Co. defense, racking up 328 yards of total offense led by QB Jared Davis, who completed 16-20 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns. Trey Burks led the rushing attack, with 58 of his 62 yards coming in the second half". They think that Lawrence County cannot beat Tullahoma on the ground and they are going to have to pass the ball to win. The above article quotes are about as specific as anyone would need. Can LCHS run the ball? Can LCHS pass the ball? If Garland and gang can't run then they better be able to pass! I think that is what they are saying. I look for a different team come Friday night and expect this to be the game we were all expecting two weeks ago. Was that the "specific" you were looking for or was it which "Wildcat" team would win?
  8. I understand your dilemma......such a shame football is only played on Friday nights and only 10 games in a season! It gives a man way to much time between games. I did a little scratching around myself and found out that since 1969 Tullahoma holds a huge advantage as far as wins and losses. Unless I made a mistake, the record during this time is 31-8-1. Of course these records are from the past and we are very much so dealing with the present!
  9. Thanks to all for your responses. So let me get this straight; The Columbia/Knox Catholic game will get refs from neither district? The Tullahoma/Lawrence County game will be regular season refs from that district? The assigning officer will then choose the best referees that are available and send them to the game he chooses? The assigning officer does NOT choose crews but rather individuals based on how he thinks they preformed during the year? I do appreciate any and all information. I have no gripes about the refs I was just curious as to how they decide who and where these refs are decided upon. They were telling last year about how the refs were chosen for the finals at Cookeville and it pretty muched seemed like an all-star officiating crew.
  10. Surely someone knows how the referees are determined for the playoffs. The only thing I found in the handbook was "Game officials for all play-off games shall be appointed by the state office". I have always wanted to know if they pick the best groups or do they pick the best individual referees? It appears the referees are always from a different district of the two teams playing but I am not even 100% sure of that. A little help here please.
  11. Does anyone know how refs are determined for the playoffs? Do they come in groups or are they picked individually? Who decides what refs go where? I have always wondered this and I thought it might be interesting to see who all knows.
  12. Binns.....again I feel as if you are dead on! I have seen Tullahoma play multiple time this year and the two best games I have seen them play was the Columbia/LCHS games. Tullahoma has many sets but the ones they ran against LCHS was obviously perfect. The question is, can they get the early lead? I feel for them to win the game that is a must! They have to put LCHS in an uncomfortable position! I for one thought a couple big plays and some timely penalties was the difference in the first matchup. The score could have easliy been 20-21 as it was 27-7. LCHS on the other hand must not give up the big plays to Tullahoma. The defense played well but gave up the big play. They have to keep the score low and play their game. LCHS's offense must have better middle line play and not give up penetration. They must also figure out the weakness of the T'town defense. Against Shelbyville it was a lead blocker just off tackle. They didn't like taking that hit. I really feel as if Tullahoma might have this warm fuzzy feeling about this game since they won easily on the scoreboard and this could be disasterous for them. I also feel as if the LCHS bunch will be studying and studying some more! These are two very good teams and I look for something special next Friday! LCHS will be looking for a little payback but Tullahoma will be at home. To close to call!! If it rains though, wether or not that has anything to do with whats happening on the field, it will absolutely give LCHS the mental edge! They don't call themselves the MUDCATS for nothing!
  13. I sure am!! I am also looking forward to a rematch between the two WILDCAT teams next week with a win tonight! I just hope the Wildcats in purple don't look ahead as I have! GO DISTRICT 8AAA
  14. Does anyone in Lawrenceburg have any news on the big DT that broke his ankle a couple weeks back? I first thought that LCHS could get by without him but he was clearly needed when they played Tullahoma. They are a much better team when they can run him in and out according to the situations. I heard he may back this week but now I am hearing different. With a win tonight, could he be ready for a second round playoff game, or will we see some of him tonight?
  15. Did the weather cancel the game on Friday?
  16. I don't know a lot about White County but Tullahoma defends the run well. They really gave Lawrence County fits last week and they are a good running team. Tullahoma is very well rounded and plays good football. I thought Tullahoma did a great job staying at home and defending the WingT that Lawrence County was running. I would have to say if I saw any weakness in their game it would be to run the ball just off tackle. Other than that they are pretty solid on defense.
  17. Could you explain the second half play? That game must have slipped past me. Did yall actually play the 1st half in Tullahoma and then play the 2nd half at White County?
  18. Lawrence County has only made the playoffs twice and I have not heard anyone say they are world beaters. They have had some good players come through their system in previous years but never enough to put together a playoff team. They have always been on the borderline of the 2A/3A classification before the new Z plan and even with the new system they are still borderline. With these numbers it is sometimes hard to compete with some larger schools. Cleveland however has been blessed with good numbers and has gotten to play in a lower classification for a number of years. Yes, When you say Cleveland, lots of people remember the long winning streak of 50+ games but what has the program done lately? In 06 they made the playoffs with a 8-2 record, in 07 they made the playoffs with a 7-4 record, in 08 they made the playoffs with a 7-4 record, in 09 they made the playoffs with a 3-8 record and now in 2010 they have made the playoffs with a 6-4 record. Making the playoffs has been something Cleveland should be very proud of! The one thing that is not so good is that each year they have been eliminated after one game. Does this mean the district is weak? Maybe its just bad luck? Not sure but until something changes and they actually win a playoff game then I am not sure even Cleveland can call themselves a state POWERHOUSE in football anymore. Stop saying Lawrence County is claiming to be a powerhouse. That has not been said on here by anyone except Cleveland fans. Lawrence County does not teach hitting late, pulling, poking, or piling on! They play good hard nosed football and I for one am proud they are part of District 8AAA!
  19. Now they went and got all those players taken care of $$$$. They are their boys now ?????.
  20. I will have to say that this statement is not exactly true. Now if you had posted this last year then you may have had a good point. Last Friday night there were some pretty questionable wistles for personal fouls. One call was borderline but the other two were completely wrong! The personal foul blocks were just good clean blocking between the wistles and they flagged the kid. I can't stand late hits and crazy personal fouls but I would have to question the calls made during the Tullahoma game. LCHS has played with much more disciplne this year than they did last year! Cleveland needs to remember that every hard hit is not a late hit. If you can't take the hitting, stay off the field!!
  21. I do see what you are talking about with the LCHS team. It appeared that the offense was handcuffed last week against Tullahoma. The LCHS defense actually played very well but the offense struggled for 2 1/2 quarters and then they moved the ball down the field and scored, then low and behold, they came back the very next series and ran the same plays and sets that hadn't worked before. I have seen LCHS play on several occasions this year and it appears they are a hot and cold team. If what they are doing works then watch out. If it is not working, then look for the same thing the entire game. They have the capability to do very well in the playoffs but they have to be able to do a better job adjusting and calling plays that can actually earn them a win. Win or lose they always play hard and hit even harder!! Good luck CATS!!
  22. Of course I think LCHS will take this one! They do have a good defense and run the ball well. I thought Tullahoma shut LCHS down better than anyone this year but I also think LCHS could have done a better job attacking T'towns defense. The pass defense has not been bad until T'town went to the spread and then it was a little unstable for a couple quarters. If Cleveland does a good job stopping what LCHS wants to do they always seem to have trouble countering what the defense is doing. It always seems to take them way to long to make an adjustment. I must say that LCHS likes to hit as hard as any team I have seen this year! With that statement, they sometimes get a little to aggressive and get flagged. They must play a hard, penalty free game to win. From what I have heard it seems Cleveland has a little trouble stopping the run. That could be bad if LCHS finds this weakness and stays with what is working! LCHS usually packs the house so Cleveland must be ready for a hostile environment! I could say that about all the District 8AAA teams though. We love our District 8AAA teams and I for one hope they all win! Go LCHS
  23. Binns............since you have jumped over here on the LCHS/CLEVELAND post what are your thoughts on this delema? According to the TSSAA rules, which team won the District 5AAA championship? I know you will give a straight answer and you being a Tullahoma fan and radio "STAR" I figure you would know how the rule reads as good as anyone and if you don't really know I also know you have some friends that work for the TSSAA that might be able to clarify this arguement. I know this has nothing to do with the playoff game but it has gotten interesting that so many people seem to be reading this tie breaking rule differently. I for one believe Bradley Central is the Champs according to the new TSSAA rules. In the past, I understand that Cleveland would be the champs. A little help here if you can.
  24. Illegal players, uniform swapping........what kind of program will be coming to Lawrence County? That just sounds wrong!!
  25. Not true!! If you had really called you would have found out the truth!
