  1. Didn't mention Pickett they are my pick for state but after them your district is weak.
  2. Then this would make one look at the quality of the opponent? The Jackson county team I watched several times this summer and fall looked offensively deficient. Time will tell the story; another commented on how bad VB looked. Wish Jackson Co the best and they will get second in their district, I still say top 4-5 teams in 9 A could beat them. I guess Jacksons district is just down a little. Spare me the history lesson I live in the present!

    District 9-A

Wow, cannot believe MTCS is so low. I think the upset will come against community this year. Seniors have away of playing tight in their last tournament. Can 9A conceivably send 2 teams to the state tourney? 9 A is going to be great to watch this year.
  4. Would like to start a thread on how the top teams in single A are doing this year across the state. Please give updates, scores, and opinions on how the teams are looking in every district.

    District 9-A

My prediction: 1 Community 2 Huntland 3 MTCS 4 Moore 5 Forrest 6. Eagleville 7. Fayetteville Think this is how they finish the season but there will be upsets in the district tournament this year.
  6. No doubt Allen is a great player I am not trying to take that away from her by any means. Just a strong guard that can get through the screens and not let her penetrate will give Jackson huge issues. I have watched it play out twice this year. The key here is a strong guard that will hustle the whole game because Allen will beat you if you don't match her effort. I am sorry if you misunderstood me Allen is great but there are just not enough scorers at Jackson.

    10A vs 9A

9A is loaded with college prospects. IMO it will be harder to get out of the district than region. Wish there was a different format so more of these teams would have a shot. Should be a fun year!
  8. Indian, Moore plays RBS in HOF game at Webb this upcoming Saturday. We should know a lot more about both teams then. Moore and RBS both looked good in one game yesterday and then lost bad on their second game. White co didn't let RBS run the pick and roll that they love to run on that drag play. Once they shut the drag play down, there wasn't much offense from RBS.
  9. Possibly, but starters from both teams played the majority of the game. They really tried to free up Allen setting screens but it was not that effective. In the fourth they changed and tried to free up the post on pick and rolls with limited success. That post did knock down a couple threes though. JC will get better as the year goes on but they are going to need help in the scoring column. I wanted to see them play again but they only played one game.
  10. Moore lost to LA by a lot. After half down a few, but played scenarios in second half and got blown out.
  11. Moore lost to LA by a lot. After half down a few, but played scenarios in second half and got blown out.
  12. Moore 43 Jackson Co 34 - Jackson Co. will struggle when Allen is matched against a strong athletic defender. Just not enough scorers at Jackson in my opinion. Also Moore should finish anywhere from second to fifth in district 9A. Jackson should take second behind Pickett in their district with Meadows out.

    District 9-A

Community will be senior heavy this year and they didn't really lose anyone. With that being said Huntland will be much improved this year and could possibly beat them and be the team to beat this year. Moore county took them to triple overtime last year and also lost by a couple in the district playoffs. MTCS lost a few players but will still have a couple of the best guards in the district. Forrest lost a lot of seniors but Still have Yost. While Community is the most complete team, I think they could lose two district gams this season. Not to mention that two 9A teams should be playing for the region championship as well. Community is a great team but I think some of the other teams in the district have grown up a little and will be able to compete this year. Furthermore, Community's margin of victory has gotten smaller over the last two years and if that trend holds true they will be beatable.
  14. I think district 9A could produce two serious contenders for the glass house this year. I don't have a clue what two teams it will be but the two that make it will be able to play with anyone.
  15. I know they have picked up some great players, but the girls from Riverdale I believe have grown up and will start another dynasty this year. HH might get them early in this season but by the end if the season I believe Riverdale rolls to a state championship unless Crystal can stop them. Oakland will be good too
  16. I will take Riverdale by 12 lol.

    10A vs 9A

I know 9A will be a dog fight, but doesn't Houston co have a lot of size left. I know they lost their great guard but they were huge last year.
  18. Your right, with the Meadows girl out they should finish second.

    10A vs 9A

Can anyone from 10A beat a 9A team this year. I know Houston Co. lost a lot to graduation.
  20. That is really bad news. She had a great summer and was really playing well. Hope she comes back strong.
  21. Lets get back on topic! Who will be the new teams at state this year?
  22. I think both of these teams make it to state this year too. Do you think we will see any new teams at state this year?
  23. Allen is a good player no doubt, watched her with Tn, Flight navy as well as summer high school ball. Anyone can take it through 4-5 players depending on the caliber of a team. Just noticed they struggle to get high percentage shots off due to lack of penetration and lack of a dominant big. They especially struggle when Allen is guarded by a strong athletic defender. I just think they will be shooting too many jump shots this year to beat good teams consistently.
