I saw Jackson co play this summer and they were lacking an inside game. They had a tough time penetrating teams with good help D and no dominate bigs. I think they finish third in their district.

Knew they lost a few due to graduation but was unaware of the other thanks for the info. I agree Pickett will be strong this year. If they shoot well they can beat anyone. With that being said any of the top 10 or 15 teams could end up in the championship if they get hot at the right time. I pull for 9A teams personally it's just hard to get out of the district with community, Huntland, MTCS, Moore, and Forrest. There are some talented young ladies in this district. However, with the exception of community there is not a lot of size inside and to me that is where you get more consistent play. A good post can put up 20 a night and clean the boards all night.

Good to hear about west tn. Seems like every year I hear the least about the west but then they take home a gold ball, I think the meadows girl from Clarkrange has improved and runs the floor better this year. We could see a repeat of the same championship last year with Middleton and Clarkrange. It's going to take another big post to beat Clarkrange if Meadows is playing well.

With basketball season just a couple of months away, let's get a discussion started on favorites in each district in single A. Which districts will be the strongest, and which team will surprise a lot of people this year?

Seriously, who is it? Is the Bourne girl at Meigs. May not have spelled it correctly.

Community has the advantage against anyone they play in the district. Several teams in the district can match their guard play, but there is not a team that can hang with them inside. With this being said I would also put Huntland in the mix as they proved last year they are much improved and probably the second best team inside. Huntlands transfer will also make a difference for them this year. In this district anyone can win on any given night. I expect to see two district 9A teams competing for the region championship this year. Moore and MTCS will have to find inside games this year to be serious contenders.

There is an abundance of younger talent in the state, and it will be interesting to see these players start showcasing their skills. A lot of these players are coming up in established programs though, so I dont look for any major changes in the top teams. Does anyone disagree with this statement?

Just watched Moore country handle Jaskson County very easily by 20 or so. Which teams have looked good at camp? I totally understand that the intensity level is different in summer ball and season ball. Just want to get a discussion started on who is going to be good this upcoming year.

Congratulations Middleton on a great season and championship game. No panic from coach or team when they got down early. Way to maintain your composure and beat 7a. Now we don't have to listen to it for a whole year from 7a. Thank you so much for that.

If clarkrange isn't hitting from the outside I think Houston takes the gold ball this year. Houston has the size and experience to give clarkrange a rough time inside.

How is the guard that got hurt at the Moore Co game. I hope she is doing OK.

I will say this, if he stays he will come back stronger and Riverdale will hold the gold ball at the end of the 16'-17' season. That is assuming that everyone else stays in place. There was a mistake made but in the end he will be defined on how he deals with everything from here going forward. Everyone makes mistakes and decisions they wish they wouldn't have made. Some people's bad decisions just get blown up for the world to see.

I think they have a shot. I think if MTCS can set good screens and free up their shooters they will be there in the fourth. Houston is a extremely long team and that makes driving at the basket rough. Also MTCS will need to be ready to run the offense from someone besides the PG. I thought MTCS struggled in their half court sets when the PG was denied the ball against community . MTCS will not be intimidated the way Moore was because they have more experience. If you can, get out and run on this team they are not a fast team overall and with their size comes fatigue issues. Good luck

Can't control refs but you can report them to the TSSAA. Enough of that 9a wins 3 of 4 that's a pretty strong showing and should be even better next year. Houston was the only 10 a team to win and it was a struggle with Moore only down three in the fourth. MC had a player foul out and i don't think they scored in the last couple of minutes. Houston capitalized on free throws and took the margin to 9. I expect a community and Houston rematch in the region finals. Unless, MTCS can get hot from the three.

That is just really low but I guess one would have to be a Moore County native to understand. These are grown men who got paid to do a job. I think they did a tremendously poor job so I am holding them accountable. I didn't call out a 15 year old girl by number or name.
