  1. There already is, but its up to the schools to follow the rules. From TSSAA; Tuition and Financial Aid Section 16. If tuition is charged, it must be paid by parent, bona fide guardian or other family member. If a parent, guardian or other family member secures a loan for payment of tuition, it must remain an obligation of the parents, guardian or other family member to repay the principle and interest in full with no exceptions. Financial aid will be allowed under the following conditions: 1. Children of full-time faculty members may be given financial aid, but such students, if transfers, shall be ineligible for 12 months in any sport in which they have an athletic record for the previous or current year. 2. Financial aid may be awarded on the basis of need, but proof of such need must be filed in the TSSAA office on forms approved by the Executive Director. In order to determine the basis for need, all schools awarding financial aid shall use one of the following services in order to determine the basis for need: FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment (FACTS), Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST), School and Student Scholastic Service for Financial Aid (SSS), Family Financial Needs Assessment (FFNA), Private School Aid Services, or Smart Tuition Aid. Schools must choose one of the companies for all student-athletes. A committee consisting of School Heads from Division II schools and one ex-officio, non-voting member from the Board of Control and Legislative Council will meet and make recommendations to the Board of Control on each student submitted. In addition, this committee will collect information from schools regarding financial aid statistics, grant procedures, and the overall financial aid program within the school. The Board of Control will then rule on all cases at the August meeting. The Board of Control shall have authority to reject the basis of need for students when in its opinion, or in the opinion of the school committee, the amount of need stated by the financial service cannot be justified. 3. Any loan program, grant program, educational foundation or similar program that is established and/or administered, in whole or in part, by a school or official of a school is considered financial aid. Schools shall remove any student from athletic eligibility whose accounts with the school are 60 days overdue. All records pertaining to financial aid or tuition assistance shall be open to TSSAA upon its request. Each school shall be responsible for securing necessary authorization to allow TSSAA to review or audit such records.
  2. Whether or not they were studs or they were recruited and what sport they were participating in is immaterial to the discussion. They were student athletes at the school that were having their tuition paid outside of acceptable conditions.
  3. I have said repeatedly that this extends beyond football and I have seen no one making an assumption it is a stud football player. That seems to be your assumption.
  4. You are sorely mistaken if you think this latest investigation has much, if anything, to with the situation you just rehashed. All that situation did was to open the door. Everyone already knew there was much more that was much deeper, but didn't know if it would come out. I'm afraid it is about to. In a day or two...
  5. #2 is wrong. TSSAA has the goods. There is not going to be much point of any MBA appeal. Its that blatant and indefensible.
  6. I believe that any wins, in any sport, will be vacated if a student receiving illegal assistance played in them. This will go beyond football into other sports and it will go back as far as the trail leads. Years. The trail leads right to the headmaster.
  7. And most schools do not have the integriy to follow the rules or the courage to self report when they do break them, inadvertently or not.
  8. I have kept my opinion to myself after being outspoken back in April, but now I have to share some of my thoughts. I agree, KW, I have no optimism for the school's anticipated response. They have been caught, red handed, and it is instituitional, not just a few isolated events. Gioia absolutely must go. When some of the details of this come out, people will be stunned how egregious this all really is. Gioia will try to spin it, but there will be no way to defend the book keeping. Wins will be vacated, and not just in football, post season will be gone for a season or two, and there maybe be a few other sanctions. MBA needs to bow their heads, keep their mouths clamped shut, other than to say "yes sir, TSSAA, and we sincrely apologize for this serious breach of trust that has brought such shame on our proud and beloved MBA."
  9. Very good post. Very good, indeed.
  10. It is not complex at all, you just have to know how not to get caught. Look at BA pre-lawsuit. Look at Ensworth now. The road to victory in D II is just like big time college football. The best recruiting class wins the gold ball.
  11. Why isnt anyone saying BA should hire Clayton at Franklin...oh, wait... they want someone with success and integrity, right? Hey, I think Clayton is a pretty good recruiter, he can bring Wayne with the van.
  12. I've seen a lot of talk about people who dont think Dyson is much of a coach. After listening to him announcing, jeez louise, its no surprise he's not well thought of as a coach. The announcing was as bad as I have ever heard. Ever. By a mile.
  13. Careful...you're talking about a sacred cow. And I don't mean their principal. For years FHS has thought of themselves as untouchable, but its catching up to them now. I couldnt get my grandkid out of there fast enough once I realized how bad it is. What I am reading into most of the Franklin supporter's responses is this "leave us alone, we are happy in our ignorant bliss and we think we have everyone fooled."
  14. Well, I obviously dont root for Franklin, and I certainly dont root for Centennial as some other poster assumed, although I do respect what they seem to be building, both in athletics and in the school. I just hate to see what was once a proud school doing so poorly in so many ways. I guess I have too much inside information about Franklin. I'll leave your school alone. Franklin needs to focus on fixing their problems and not worry so much about what people are saying about them. I guess thats the bad part of it, Franklin wants to work on denying their issues instead of working on them.
  15. Franklin is a sinking ship. Better start bailing out the water and get those life jackets on, you dont want to drown.
  16. Have they started passing out the buckets and life jackets yet?
  17. I'm glad the future looks good.
  18. Looks like some internal strife is hitting Franklin.
  19. bad several of years of recruiting are catching up? lol. oops. Probably shouldnt have said that, TSSAA is watching. Of course, that is why there have been years of bad recruiting classes to begin with. BA's lawsuit is what caused your athletic downturn. The other privates are out manuvering you at every recruiting turn. You wont be able to change that for a very long time, if ever.
  20. Strange that you would answer when I was talking to JerryLawler. A little sensitive, are we? Lies? Prove it. And thats how libel works. You have to prove it is lies in court and the onus is in the one that is claiming to be libeled. Go read up on the law a little. And if you want to see the recruiting by franklin football, head out to the cowboys next fall and see it for yourself. Its happening and it is his program. Wayne only stopped bacause of some very specific actions by some very strong people. That is out there as common knowledge. Strong leadership? Holy cow. Thats just flat out a joke and ask anyone outside of FHS and they will tell you the same. Drugs are at every school, no doubt, but some schools are definitely worse than others. The worse schools are the ones that point their fingers at other schools and say look they have them there too, nah nah nah boo boo. Defend your school, but at least do it intelligently. Slip and slid, coach, slip and slide. I know, I know, it wasnt school sponsored, so the school is in the clear, right? Its a great reflection. Period. Rearrange the deck chairs. That will keep the ship from going down.
  21. I commented that the coach recruits, Wayne drives the bus that delivers the kids that lie about their address, the school lacks leadership, that drugs are a huge issue, and that Franklin is a sinking ship. JerryLawlerKnows didnt like it and whined to the moderators and they took the thread down.
  22. Rumor around West End is that there is to be a reunion of sorts at Hillsboro next year on the coaching staff and in administration. Changes coming that has a few WCS connections. Any word out in Williamson county about it yet?
  23. Does anyone talk footbal in this thread? Looks like every time someone tried, they would get ambushed with stupiduty. What a mess of a thread. And it looks like Sir Taco won the day. Sorry mykidsdad, he destroyed you and predicted every move you would make and you played right into his hands. Not that it matters, just an observation about an otherwise useless thread. Get back to football. I'm going back to the DII side of things. This is pathetic.
  24. Football may be on a better track right now, but MBA is far from the right track. The foxes are still guarding the hen house. Nothing will change except they will be better cheaters and not get caught again.
  25. No offense, but this was a completely unimpressive, but at least now it makes sense according to this post. Since they couldnt get a great coach to come in after this mess, use it as a recruiting opportunity and get a QB out of it. So the going rate for a school's reputation and fired/resigned coach is a med-level coach with average success and a qb son? I really thought MBA could do much better.
