I can't remember a year when BA didn't have better athletes and more talent than Ensworth. But, Ensworth almost always found a way. This years Ensworth team is the worst team in their short history. So, if BA can't do it this year they may never do it. Normally I would predict BA by 3 touchdowns. But,with Ricky on the sidelines who knows.....

It's open to anyone but private schools that give financial aid have to play in it. The State of TN has approximately 30 schools that are in DII. Clearly the highest level of football in TN is played in this division. It was created because public schools did not want to play these teams.

I really thought this year BA was going to be unbeatable with the way they handled Olive Branch and the way Trinity handled EHS. Now I'm thinking maybe it's the same old BA and EHS might get better as the season progresses. As a high school football fan I'm hoping for the latter and a 4-5 team race for the gold ball.

I was at the scrimmage and in my opinion Maryville handed it to Ensworth pretty good. I think the Ensworth defense only stopped them 1 time the entire scrimmage. Ensworth is never very deep with only 450 students in the school and this year they seem even more so. That said they were missing 4 or 5 guys that are dinged up and they would have helped. I wouldn't read too much into it as it was just an early scrimmage and remember Maryville won state 2 years ago after being dominated by Ensworth.

That's what Baylor said last year, just contain Corn. Well, he went out in the 1st period of the Championship Game and # 7 took over. There are a few very good players on that team besides Corn. That's why you can't contain Corn. If you key on him someone else will beat you.

No question this will be a physical game. Both teams will come to play. I don't think either team will beat up on the other one. It will just be a hard fought game. Ensworth has a few more athletes and should win. However, if MBA executes perfectly they could make it a game. Ensworth is not unbeatable. Should be a great high school football with great atmosphere. I only hope the boys playing realize how lucky they are to be playing. My sophomore is playing on Saturday but says he misses Friday nights alot.

I would not say Ensworth and MBA are bitter cousins. It was a little rough at the beginning but both schools respect each other and there are many mutual friends and families with children in both schools. They both want to beat each other every time they play but it is because everyone knows each other..... Also MBA did beat Ensworth in 2010 but then lost in the playoffs. It should be a really good game with a huge crowd and either team could win. I say EHS with a late TD 28-21. I give the Owls the edge over BA because of home field advantage 21-17.

I was at the Father Ryan vs. Ensworth Game and Father Ryan is not bad. They have a full back that must have hit the middle at full speed at least 35-40 times and was still going full speed at the end of the game. I bet he was really sore on Saturday morning. They have several really good athletes and they play really hard. If MBA doesn't come to play it could be a close game. I'll take FR and the points. MBA wins 28-21.

Franklin, Antioch, Lipscomb, Ensworth, Maryville, Jackson Liberty, Sycamore, JP2, York. They using all four gyms and going 9AM - 8PM. There may be other JV and Middle School Teams I am missing.

My son who is now playing on Saturdays said to me last weekend how much he missed Friday nights. He said he didn't appreciate how special it was while it was happening..... I think the dads miss it more.
