  1. Both are the 2 best teams in this area in my opinion by far but the problem is Hampton has yet to beat anyone who is really a very good basketball team. I mean moral victories are ok for confidence but they dont get you W's.
  2. Well we are atleast a day away from the biggest game "IMO" Northeast Tennessee whats everyones predictions for all 4 games tomorrow?
  3. I agree I dont what the problem is with the lady dogs right now but I think it needs to be adressed quickly. This is to good of a team to be playing the way they are. As for Cloudland they will get their chance to prove themselves Tuesday against Unicoi. Elizabethton I still dont see anyone beating them exspecially in their conference. I thought Happy Valley might play Unicoi a little closer then what they did but the game was at Erwin. Might be a different outcome at the Valley.
  4. 1.Elizabethton-Still holds the #1 spot till someone knocks them off. 2.Unicoi- Big win on their home floor last night over Hampton I believe Erwin has got a good coach in Epperson after last nights win. 3.Cloudland-Will have a chance to prove if they are worthy of the 2 spot come next week. 4.Hampton-Tough loss to Unicoi last night but still one of the top teams in this area 5.Happy Valley- Good win last night.Goulds has got his Lady Warriors on the right track 6.Unaka- Until the transfer gets eligibile I see Unaka struggling big. 7.Johnson County- It's going to take time but give credit to coach W for taking this job and trying to get the program on the right track
  5. 1.Elizabethton- Great senior leadership, deep off of the bench with great guard play and tremendous shooting from the outside. They play great defensively in the halfcourt and force alot of turnovers. They will be an even stronger team once Christmas time rolls around.I see this Cyclone team making it to the 2nd round of the state tourney. 2.Hampton- With the numbers Weddle and Dugger could put up I see these lady Bulldogs being a contender down in Murfreesboro.Had a big win against Cherokee and took a great South Greene team down to the wire. Expect good things out of this group throughout the year. 3.Unicoi- Not to sold on Coach Epperson with the talent they have but do see great potential with the players he has to work with. Good post presents on the inside, they get after you in the backcourt with different looks and they shoot the ball really well. Still not sold if they can beat Hampton or Elizabethton but should and will get better game by game. 4.Cloudland- Pound for Pound probably the most talented Freshman Class in this area.I'm just not sure if the rest of the Lady Landers expect and young group to carry a very big load.Very quick group defensively struggles rebounding and scoring inside but they are still young and will improve. Only one senior starter so Coach Birchfield has alot to look foward to down the road. 5.Happy Valley-Impressive win against Sullivan South, plays very hard on the defensive end and Coach Goulds seems to be getting alot out of this group of girls. I look for them to improve tremendously over the course of the next month or two and possibly see them giving Unicoi a run for 2nd place. 6.Unaka- I agree with CoachHH Unaka is one player away from being a pretty good ball team to go along with Cox and Wilson but from talking to a parent earlier in the week it is not looking to promising with the elgibility of the Colbaugh girl. Not deep with talent other than those two so its going to take other players stepping up for this team to achieve. 7.Johnson County- Coach Whitt is doing all he can with the talent he has.Great respect for this guy coaching till the final horn goes off and is getting alot of respect out of his girls. Very young group so could be a learning stage for these girls and trying to get them ready for the next 2 years.
  6. Easy (King) They beat two teams who might win 4 games all season. Cumberland Gap not so bad but not so good either.Beat Sullivan South and Daniel Boone who are pretty top quality opponents then we can get back to your little debate.
  7. 1.Hampton 2.North Greene 3.Unaka 4.Cloudland 5.University High 1.Unicoi 2.Elizabethton 3.Happy Valley 4.Sullivan East 5.Sullivan North 6.Johnson County Unaka and Cloudland could pretty much go either way I think Unaka has a little bit more of an edge coming into this year. The Watauga is pretty much a lock though in the 3,4,5,6 spot. I honestly dont see any of the other 4 teams finishing no higher than 3rd and that will more than likely be Happy Valley.
  8. Your correct bball totally slipped my mind. I kept thinking she was a junior last year.
  9. That is why it is called "pre-season" rankings. I know what Science Hill has coming back as for about everyone else. All top 10 teams are loaded. I know Morristown West lost 3 or 4 seniors but their program just reloads with talent. Greeneville will be pretty tough,Tennessee High brings intensity every night on the defensive end of the floor to go along with a very good player in Blakely Burleson(Tusculum College)I think they are going to have to shoot the ball really well this year though to make a run not only in the big 9 but against better competition. Cocke County was very impressive last year. They had very good size post play down low was very impressive and they get up and down the floor in transition really well. Elizabethton has a D1 signee Kara Bowling(ETSU) with very good guard play coming back not to mention since Len Dugger took over Elizabethtons program he has probably totaled over 3 back to back to back 20 or more win seasons. Hampton will probably be ranked in the top 10 in your girls pre-season Single A polls if not in the top 5 and has one of Northeast Tennessee's top players in Chelsie Weddle back to go along with a good Sophmore player in Dorthy Dugger. Unicoi has everyone back who has played mostly since they were freshman if not started.Very big athletic good ball handlers and shoots the ball from the outside really well. Still kind of sceptical about the new coaching change but deffinitely should win 20 or more games. South Greene returns a great heap of talent. Dye is back I know of to go along with D1 signee's Shelby Hick(USC Upstate)and Ansley Ricker.(Mars Hill)South Greene kind of reminds you of the fab five Steve Fisher used to have in the early 90's. They talk trash, you will see about 2 or 3 technicals before the nights over with and they will absolutely defend you physically for 4 quarters straight. Not only can they play but they are very tough plain and simple. In the big 9 you have Sullivan South who was very big last year has D1 signee Mackenzie Campbell (Western Carolina) Dobyns Bennet was very good last year they will battle for first or second in the big 9 with Science Hill and Tennessee High. Another team I would watch out for on the radar I overlooked that will be competitve this year is Cherokee they return Casey Ryans back (Moorhead State) All in all Northeast Tennessee is loaded with talent this year I could see 3 or 4 teams out of the top 10 making it to the Boro if not having a good chance of winning a state title.
  10. Nope but just now caught on to the Username so I had to go with the ol noggin instead of the gut.
  11. Of course you do Mr Hardin be patient I see them at a 2 or 3 spot at some point in the season.
  12. Well my outcome of the Happy Valley over Hampton game was correct (uknoit2)Could be a pretty good game tonight. Great weather showing on the forcast, could get a little cold but thats part of this time of year. I understand both Hampton and Cloudland have some kids not playing which I am sure they are not,due to injuries but its important to get and stay healthy at this time in the season. But both teams are guaranteed playoff births so I would not take any chances of putting a kid or a team in a worse position they are already in injury wise. Both teams are going to come out running the ball hard,I believe Cloudland might try to catch Hampton off guard with a little bit of a passing attack just for the fact Hampton is going to key in on the run as well will Cloudland. All in all a great game will be played and I look for Hamptons run game to be to much down the stretch for Cloudland even though Cloudland will have to convert on some big plays and keep the mistakes to a minimum for 4 quarters to hang in the game with this bulldog bunch. Final Hampton-28 Cloudland-14 I do however see Hampton not making it as far as most bulldog fans see them making it in the playoffs. I will go out on a limb and say they will struggle if not get beat 2nd round and have trouble in the 3rd round if they was to make it and get beat. On the bright side if the playoff system is correct and it seems to be played out the way I am seeing it,I believe all 4 Carter County teams have a good chance of winning their first round games.
