  1. To think this is the only example of an inelligible athlete playing at Signal you would be wrong. He is just the most visible. Someone had posted on the comments section of the TimesFreepress article with the name, address, parents residence and even their church attended where a kid form Sequatchie was playing at Signal. It has since been removed I assume because names were mentioned. Someone has an axe to grind!
  2. As a parent who has a received a letter about the NCLB who attends a failing school I can tell you now in the letter it states that any student who wishes to go to a passsing school MUST ATTEND ONE OF THE TWO SCHOOLS PAIRED WITH THAT FAILING SCHOOL! Also transportation would be provided by the HCDE to one of these schools. NOT, that they can attend any passing school provided they can find transportation. If this were not the case we would have other schools completely flooded with students and others empty. One other thought. Before the season started, coach Slaughter at Cleveland was on Stump's Saturday morning program. They happened to ask Slaughter about Tim. When talking to Slaughter they commented that they were under the impression that Tim was going to attend Cleveland this year with his brother(half)Henry. Slaughters comment was "I thought he was too". Take what you want from that.
  3. It is not true that if a student goes to a failing school that he is able to attend any passing school. That student is given an option of going to 1 of 2 schools designated by the HCDE. Transportation is also provided for the student to these optional schools. Here is a copy of the transfer pdf.NCLB Transfer PDF.
  4. foozball man there were 12 teams in the signal tournament so lets break this down... 12 teams 1st rd. 6 teams 2nd rd. oh my gosh 3 teams left in the final rd. One of the teams sits and all three coaches flip a coin. Soddy sat out last year as they won the coin toss and watched signal vs. mccallie, we were on the losing end this year. I will have to Back this up, That is how they have done it the last 2 years, 12 to 6 to 3 and the Final 3 flip a coin and the Odd man out goes to the Ship and the othe 2 play for the right to play the bye team. We won or loss the the coin flip last year and went straight to the Ship, this year we played for the right to play Badley and loss to N Jackson Thats my bad. Initially, I thought we were referring to the finals as the final game. You missed a heck of a game last night Cajun. I am not sure though if we had more grass stain or blue paint on our back sides.
  5. Not Mr. Brown, I can promise you that. But let me get this straight in a single elimination tournament after a series of scheduled 4 team play. 2 undefeated teams (in tournament play) and 1, 1 loss team made the finals. That makes absoulutely no sense whatsoever.Yes we won it last year but I never saw a coin toss I just saw each team being dropped out of the tournament as they got beat. Maybe Smeagle or Mountain Troll can enlighten me on this, I am sure they watch my post pretty closely. No response to the East Hamilton 7 on 7 or maybe the scrimmage against Signal durring spring practice.(that went well). I watched a FANTASTIC freshman game last night. Absolutely both East Hamilton and our boys played flawless fundamental football. Great play calling by our coaches as well, until we get to the 1 yard line and then we revert back to the same mistakes we make on Friday nights. 2nd and goal from the 1, 2 minutes left in the game for the go ahead score and we are sitting in shotgun This takes us from 2nd and 1 to 2nd and 6 as the ball is snapped. Wouldn't you know it 3 plays minus 4 yards. Now this is a legitimate formation at the goal line as long as Tim Tebow is the quarterback. We go to overtime, have the same exact situation exept this time from the one we go under center, sneak the ball and cross the goal line easily. Hopefully more than our boys took something away from that series. After the game there was such an excitement around the team and everyone there that I hope it carries forward. Again looking forward to TONIGHT.
  6. First off, we were not in the finals at Signal MTN. That would have been North Jackson and Bradley. Obviously you werent at East Hamilton or Tech either. Don't talk about things you don't know. Going back to the early 90's everyone in the area has been frustrated with with the mediocrity of the program. Once it steps forward we don't want to see it slip back. Again we are the largest school in Hamilton County there aren't any excuses that the kids that we have in the high school aren't talented enough to put up winning records or for that matter get beat by teams they shouldn't. I don't care who coaches the team as long as they are putting forth the best product on the field they can. I am all for this coaching staff we have know, making the adjustments needed for the course of this year to change, no one can knock the character of Coach Orr. But there has to be an excitement there about the program that was there when Slaughter was there or even Braswell was there for the brief time he was.( He sure has lit a fire under East Ridge). Again looking forward to tomorrow night.
  7. Just FYI, Slaughter and Rankin are pretty good friends. He wasn't going to embarrass him.
  8. Because as I just found out your considered playing both ways the majority of the time if you play defense and then play offense for 2 plays in a game. The funny part about this isthat we are the largest school in Hamilton County and yet we are the only team that has playersplayin both ways. If you would like to watch film of the Red Bank game it is online. Maybe you can count how many players they have that went both ways for them the MAJORITY of the time. For instance like both their quarterbacks, both running backs, 2 of their wide recievers and 4 linemen. Basically their entire team. KIDS GO BOTH WAYS thats high school football especially in Hamilton County all teams skill kids and linemen do. You play the best players on as many plays as you can. Unless you play in Murfreesborough and have 2400 kids to pick through.
  9. This is the same scheme that we ran in the 7 on 7's. The only problem is that it looked even worse then. Even then we had linebackers chasing receivers deep across the field. We just thought for sure it was going to change by the time we got in pads, but it didn't. So what your saying is the East Ridge has better players than we do and thats why their D has been better. Because obviously we are running the same scheme. Sometimes you have 2 people driving the same car but 1 is a little faster because of the driver. Just pay attention to what happens this Friday. Looking forward to it.
  10. I didn't want to do this and parents I apologize for mentioning names but something has to be cleared up because obviously I am not paying very good attention. We run a 3-4 scheme therefore we have 3 linemen on every defensive play. The only 2 defensive lineman that has played both ways the majority of the time has been Ables, who would return punts if they asked him to and Bliss does as well The other d-linemen(most of the time)have been Ricketts (a few snaps a game on offense) and Moody(0 offense) other rotating d-linemen have been: Grant (0) offense, Gamble (0) offense. Swanson will get more playing time and Sealey will return Friday and play both ways. The offensive linemen that play everydown are Ables and Bliss(already discussed) Millsaps (no defense) Hineman (no defense), Ooten (no defense) Marler (no defense) So please enlighten me on the BIGS that play both ways all of the time as I am not paying attention. We rotate enough kids to give them a break. Maybe not an entire Defense or Offensive posession but enough. These are all good kids. Its not a lack of talent or DEPTH. The 3 I originally was talking about was Abens, Keller(WR/DB), and Bliss
  11. Let's just assume we get the C-Train "rolling". The C-Train would have had to "roll" for 8 touchdowns in order for us to have won the game against Bradley. Only a measely 7 against Baylor as well as Red Bank. Pretty sure the I-Train doesn't "roll" this good. Just a couple of numbers to ponder. 142 and 154. One is the number of points scored on us in 10 games last year. The other is the amount of points scored in 3 this year. So if we can rely of the offense to put up 600+ yards a game and score 8 touchdowns, we should be fine from here on out.
  12. I would like as a show of support to have each quarterbacks club from the Chattanooga area send flowers to Bledsoe County school in support of the Boring family. I spoke with ours last night and I hope they will be sent today.
  13. You do realize there are only 3 kids that go both ways the majority of the time. Thats not the issue. The issue is the scheme. In a 3-4 defense it is the responsibility of the linemen to be run stoppers and the line backers are the pass rushers. It is not the responsibily of the line backers to cover deep routes over the middle. We never blitz the linebackers as you should in a 3-4. If you don't run the schemes the right way then you have a problem with the scheme. You have to be able to make adjustments to fit your personel in high shcool. Your not able to recruit to bring in kids to run your scheme...well maybe at some schools. With this being said there maybe some wheels turning in the right direction. Looking forward to the next few games.
  14. **Bump** This boy needs to be at the top of everyone's thoughts and prayers. It also seems that this forum is going to be the best way to recieve updates on his condition as I have not seen anything from the TFP or Chattanoogan. Coach T, can you pin this thread please?
  15. When I went to bed last night I heard the Signal had cut the lead to 3, 35 to 32. I was thinking to myself that I really wasn't that shocked. Imagine my suprise when I woke up this morning and saw a 72 posted next to Blackman's name on the scoreboard. I thought this has to be a type-o and had to verify this with 2 other sites. Even with your recruiting, when you play a school 2x's your size bad things happen. We found that out last year in the playoffs. Sometimes its better to just be the Big fish in the small pond. I assume the flag at the municiple building will be flown at half mast. This reminds me of a line from 21st Century visionary and poet Marshall Mathers in his poem entitled "Lose yourself". In which he writes..... "Snap back to reality, Oh there goes gravity"
  16. Its not that Rutherford County schools are so much better, its that you're so much bigger. The largest school in Hamilton County is Soddy Daisy. The student size of Soddy Daisy is just under 1600. Now go and compare that with the Rutherford school system. I know when we got killed last year by Riverdale in the playoffs that Riverdale's enrollment was around 2400. Its all about the numbers! The difference in enrollment alone is 4 classifications in TSSAA football. Unless you play each other all you ever do is play down. Blackman enrollment
  17. You know I have left you alone due to the fact I have my own issues north of the river. But you REALLY don't want me to get started. I have been real good and left you alone even after I have found out the things going on top of the hill. I promise you I know everything you do and maybe more. Your best to leave me out of this. Unless you enjoy your dirty laundry flapping on the clotheslines.
  18. Not if he can't keep up with Price's recruiting. He wasn't able to offer what Signal did for McClendon even having his half brother on the team. I just hate we didn't have any kids to offer him this year like last.
  19. If we continue to have Line Backers chase other teams athletic recievers down the field you would be better off copy and pasteing this on every thread this year and just fill in the blank at the Coach Floyd part. It will save you some keyboard work.
  20. Sure money gets you to these camps, but when your there you have to Perform. These experts don't just look at numbers posted on Friday nights. They look at ability, size, speed and strength. If the kid wasn't a QB he would be an incredible linebacker. He is by far the best QB in the area. He was INVITED to the most prestigious camp in the nation. Yes there are better numbers being put up by other quarterbacks but that also depends on the people his throwing the ball to. Give Chad, Stovall and see what kind of numbers he can put up. Bottom line is the kid is a competitor with a serious ARM. If it were all about money then why isn't the Elite 11 full of Baylor and McCallie kids. Why hate on the kid when we finally have someone bringing in a National spotlight to the Chattanooga area. This can only HELP other kids looking to get there shots.
  21. I know this is crossing party lines but I want you to take a look at the most AMAZING sports image I have ever seen.(despite the subject matter). It is a photo taken at last years Boyd-Eagles game. Feel free to browse the rest of the pics which also include this years jamboree. It was taken by a friend of mine who is a professional photographer. All pics can be purchased at his website. Andymitchellphoto.com. All photos are copy righted. Andymitchellphoto.com
  22. That wasn't just a Baylor contingent that was giddy, I beleive it was pretty much a stadium consensus. For the life of me I can't figure out why. However it did warm my heart a little. Don't forget its Buffy's and Beauregard's that make up the majority of your school as the school most affected by yours opening was Baylor. (Howard a close second).
  23. Please tell me you are kidding! These teams are better than Ringgold:(by alot) Bradley, Cleveland, Soddy-Daisy, McMinn and possibly Rhea. I am pretty sure Ringgold would be rated as a 4A school through the TSSAA. Congratulations either way.
  24. If you read the TimesFreePress I can promise you we are not the ones that look bad. However good luck to you as well this year, you may not all be Signal Mtn kids, but you are all from Chattanooga.
  25. Just to make you aware, you are not DEFENDING state champions. If you were DEFENDING state champions, you would be playing again in 2A. Since you really didn't belong there last year and you have now moved to 4A you cannot be considered to be defending the 2A state championship. However if you wanted to call yourselfs 2010 2A state champions then please do.
