I agree, that call was terrible. I am glad for Columbia to get this win I had to pull for you guys after you beat West. (I am aware the game is not over officially yet) but with how Hendersonville cannot seem to stop Columbia I can assume at the least. Congrats to both teams for making it this far though!

Congrats to Alcoa for such an amazing streak of 7 straight state championships. I am not the biggest Alcoa fan but when it comes down to it they are just good. As stated by a few others one down for Blount County and one to go!

I will agree that someone needs to specfically work with these young coaches. I am sure Coach Russel is doing the best he can and since I do not know much going on down there I do not want to judge. I am extremely glad that some college students and young volunteers are getting involved because they are the future and need to be treated carefully so that they can learn and grow in the right ways. It turns out I discovered that I know Matt Davis because I played for his granddad at Maryville College (which Matt goes to now) when he coached down there a long time ago. So if he is as hard of a worker as his granddad was, Heritage could have some young assets later because I am sure the other young coaches are giving it their all as well. I wish this team luck and will be sure to keep up with them as much as possible.

Wow, I had no idea Columbia had that much size. This will def. be a tough game for West to pull out. I think like you said the advantage West has is the fact that those big guys have to play both ways and could easily be worn out by mid third quarter. I still think West can pull off the victory but it will not be easy.

Well thats good that Newman seemed to do pretty well, I always pull for Heritage even if im a William Blount graduate just because I like to see all of Blount County do well (well besides for one game ) . I am not sure about Coach Russel as I have never met him so I will hope he can succeed in establishing a solid program.

I do not know much about Columbia but I am sure they are a good team if they have made it this far. I have to cheer for West though just because I am from Blount County and have to cheer for the East Tennessee teams. I'll say West wins a close one but good luck to both teams!

I agree and disagree about the talent coming back. I went to two of the hertiage games including one JV game and they actully do not look that bad. I believe could be a four win season if you all could get an upset in there somewhere. Once again until you all manage to beat WB it is going to be hard for anyone to take Heritage serious. I do not know much about the freshman situation down there though so after this next year you all could have some serious issues. How did Newman do against West?

I know I am replying to this thread very late but I was just wondering if everyone on this staff was returning or if there were any updates? I went to a couple of Heritage games this year and I thought they were doing a great job overall. This program is going to take a long time to turn around and that requires some stable coaching so that is why I was wondering.

I was extremely impressed with Oak Ridge's victory of Riverdale. I am pretty excited to see these two traditional powerhouses play for a chance to play in the State Championship. I have to say though with how Maryville has dominated so far in the playoffs I have a feeling Maryville will win this one. My prediction is Maryville 31, Oak ridge 21. I hope for a great game and hopefully can actually go to this one.
