  1. Is scoring the only statistic anyone looks at to determine the MVP? What about her rebounds, assists, steals, etc;? Most VALUABLE player means exactly that. Harpeth would not be where they are w/out her, she carried them all season. She is definitely their key player, maybe not their best, but KEY. She didn't exactly play her best tournament of her career (definitely not), but she deserves it. Congrats, Nikki. You've had an outstanding career and I've enjoyed watching you.
  2. Will someone please define "Coach of the Year"? And can the votes not be based on PAST seasons? Who cares if he (excuse me, they b/c they are the ones who play) went to state two years in a row?! Whoever gets it, even Coach Carr, they are very deserving- this district is full of tremendous coaching talent... Good players need coaches for guides; great players only need them for motivation. I don't see him out there running, scoring, rebounding, etc; All I am saying is let the teams define coach of the year, not some sideline coach/fan who thinks going to state and losing two years in a row makes Carr a... what did ACL say... "winner"?
  3. Hey ACL, Ok, 30+ wins last year, but who did you play? Yeah, maybe 1 or 2 big name teams...but for the most part, no competition. And yes, you may have been to the 'Boro the past two years, but only to choke in the first round. Hmmm... sounds like if he was a good (great) coach, he would have prepared his team for the mental pressure and crazy atmosphere of state instead of losing 2 years in a row. Some kind of "winner" huh? Yes, Cheatham Co. has a lot of talent on their team -- a good coach would have gotten the most out of his players, and w/ the talent he has and the record of the team, he has not done his job. All I am saying about the players who "have come from other places" is that maybe they are a disruption to the REAL Lady Cubs. They might help; but I think personally, Cheatham Co. would have been much more successful w/out them. Since I don't play, I'll let the Lady Indians' TEAM speak for me Friday night... better bring your game.
  4. Well if recruiting players and playing a padded schedule to even reach the 30 win mark gets you qualified for the Coach of the Year award, then yeah... Carr wins without question.
  5. I know every team has a Sr. who is capable of playing in college somewhere at some level of competition. Some overshadowed by the talent of other younger players. But without these key seniors playing big for their team, how would the rest of the team cope? I'm just wondering who these key UNSIGNED seniors are, where they are from, and what they bring to the table to help their team.
  6. We were simply stating what a tough week the Lady Indians have coming up. And what's the big problem w/ being a Harpeth fan? You should try it. Both Cheatham and Harpeth are solid teams who will hopefully make it to the 'Boro in March. Good luck to all... but mostly HARPETH!
  7. Congratulations from one good player to a great player! Keep it up #21... Best of luck throughout the rest of your high school career, and even your collegiate b-ball days.
  8. What a loaded upcoming week for the Lady Indians! Tuesday @ Columbia, then Friday @ Cheatham... WOW!!! Best of luck to all the Harpeth girls... git 'r done!
  9. I say it is between Banes (Cheatham Co.) and Ellis (Harpeth) -- both are having great senior seasons. Atteberry just isn't having that "stand-out" year like last year, but maybe she'll shake that come tourney time. Whoever is on the receiving end deserves it b/c this is a very talented district.
  10. This district is just overflowing w/ all kinds of talent- Cheatham Co., w/ 2 college signees, Harpeth, who is having an awesome season, Sycamore, young and quick, and Stewart Co., Mont. Central, Creek Wood, and Waverly... all have some who could easily play at the collegiate level. With district tournaments edging closer, tough decisions have to cross our minds -- who will be this year's District 10-AA MVP??? Will it be another repeat w/ Miss Casey Atteberry? Or are we looking at a new "throne-taker"???
  11. *Tourny picks: 1. Harpeth 2. Cheatham Co. 3. Sycamore 4. Stewart Co. 5. Montgomery Central 6. Creek Wood 7. Waverly Harpeth plays @ Cheatham Friday, Feb. 4th. This game will be tough, and hard fought for the Lady Indians; however, this being a home game for the Cubs, I see Harpeth losing by no more than 5 points. It's hard to keep and good team down though, thus I see Harpeth and Cheatham Co. once again duking it out in Feb. w/ the Lady Indians coming out on top w/ the gold. What about the 10-AA MVP? Any nominations???
  12. Actually, Harpeth beat Cheatham by 18... but that's cool. I think the Columbia/Harpeth game will be very fast paced and will come down to who can outlast who. If the Indians come out pumped and intense, they can pull it out. Regardless of the outcome, it will be a great game to watch.
  13. It happened last year with Cheatham Co. and Loretto. Loretto will be the strongest team out of 9AA b/c they did not lose anyone; however, in 10AA, it will be between Cheatham Co. and Harpeth. I can only hope this game (unlike the Dickson Co. game) doesn't come down to one call made by the refs.
  14. What was the score at the end of the third quarter? 80+? Bottom line is that Spring Hill was no competition for Cheatham Co...why brag? Someone has 20+ points against a "nobody" team, so what?!?!
  15. Anyone ever heard of Mandy Mendenhall, a sophomore for Harpeth? Well, get used to hearing that name... she's for real and is sure to be the next big thing out of district 10-AA, region 5-AA, and even the state. Watch out class of 2007...she's a balla!
