  1. I.M.-no mas , no mas! I agree with you...we have an excellent academic high school that we're all proud of! All I am saying is that we no longer have a championship-caliber football program , and I miss that...
  2. They seem to have a pretty good handle on things over in Blount County , I.M.- excellent schools , championship football programs. I wonder what the difference is? That USED TO BE Oak Ridge...
  3. Thank you , I.M. , for proving my point...where there are WINNERS , there are LOSERS. The KING is dead...
  4. Anyone want to change their prediction after seeing the Cats at home the past two weeks?
  5. As I wrote on another thread , Jefferson Middle School is once again winless this year and trailed Kingston Middle School this week 52-0...IN THE SECOND QUARTER! The football program/coach is a joke over there , but it is indicative of what O.R, school administrators want for our kids. They knowingly de-emphasize football and embrace cross country , soccer , and matheletes with equal favor. Long gone are the days when football was king in Oak Ridge ; heck , my daughter cheers for them and they aren't allowed to hold a pep rally for the football team during the school day so as not to disrupt the "academic environment." Such are the state of affairs in the Atomic City , "where smart things happen."
  6. Sevier County...one-and-done come play-off time. Sound familiar?
  7. Those that care about football in Oak Ridge should be outraged at the joke of a program over at Jefferson Middle School. I was told they played Kingston Middle School this past week and trailed 52-0...IN THE SECOND QUARTER! Coach Byass???
  8. This OUGHT to fire up the Wildcats....2010... HALFTIME SCORE.... Powell 34 Oak Ridge 3.
  9. Take heart , Blade's-runner , Coach Blade can still cap off an outstanding home regular season record. Let's see... he's lifetime 5-6 now with home dates remaining against football powerhouses Central ( 0-1 ), Halls ( 0-2 ), Clinton (0-2 ), and Campbell County (1-1 ). I wonder if any of those schools will have a winning record at season's end , Blade's-runner? These are the type of teams that Coach Blade has consistently led us to victory over during his tenure here at Oak Ridge...
  10. Can we even stop the run, anybody's run game? Farragut gashed us for almost 500 yards of total offense.
  11. Why is Anderson County football so WEAK this year? I mean A.C. , Clinton , and Oak Ridge...
  12. Ol' Bounder , we're all pulling for the same team , and I agree with other posts I've read on here that this year's starters would be lucky to dress out on some of Oak Ridge's talented championship squads of the past. Therefore , to give our young men the best opportunity to succeed , we need for our much-heralded coaches to out-plan and out-scheme our opponents. I simply don't feel we got this type of effort from our coaches this past Friday night. I ain't drinking the Scott Blade Kool-Aid anymore...
  13. Is that your reason for liking Coach Blade? If that's the case , you must have LOVED Coach Stevens...he took you to the state championship game!
  14. I really shouldn't expect anything more from " Blade's-runner!" By the way , ol' Stanton's LaVergne Wolverines are off to a 2-0 start...who'd a thunk it?
  15. We "looked bad early last year" because we played the likes of Farragut , Powell , and Maryville, and it will be the same this year. Don't you see a pattern here? Our team suddenly gets "coached-up" when we close with Karnes , Hardin Valley , Clinton , and Campbell County. The bottom line is...the great Blade ain't that great!
  16. I'm on the same page with you , SweetScience...it may be time for Two Men and a Truck...remember this name-Mark Pemberton.
  17. O.K. Anderson County teams are winless in a combined 5 games played...BETTER?
  18. All Anderson County teams ( Oak Ridge , Clinton , Anderson County , Oliver Springs ) are winless after a combined 7 games played. ANDERSON COUNTY= WEAK FOOTBALL?
  19. Under legendary coach Scott Blade , Oak Ridge is 13-8 during regular season games...and 11 of these wins have come against teams that posted LOSING SEASON RECORDS. So , I guess Coach Blade and his vaunted Wildcats should be considered the favorite versus 0-2 Central. One note of caution , however...Oak Ridge is 5-6 at home during Coach Blade's tenure.
  20. Let's get back on topic...to me , Oak Ridge looked POORLY COACHED Friday night. Farragut was by far the better team , and they certainly executed the 4 or 5 same plays over and over again. On defense , Oak Ridge had absolutely zero adjustments and no answers. Farragut had almost 500 yards of total offense , most of that coming on runs straight up the gut. It reminded me of the UT-Florida game several years ago when Florida's DE Alex Brown kept rushing off the edge and sacking Peyton Manning...UT never changed a thing during the game. Our offense was so vanilla- we looked like we were playing not to lose. Here are some FACTS concerning the Wildcats performances during the "legendary" Scott Blade era... Oak Ridge has played 21 regular season games under Coach Blade , and our record is 13-8. Of those 13 wins , only 2 were against teams that went on to finish the season with a winning record ( both against Anderson County ). That means 11 of those wins came against losing teams! Also during the course of these 21 regular season games , Oak Ridge is a woeful 5-6 at home. I don't believe Coach Scott Blade is all he's built up to be...
  21. 2006 Farragut 17 Oak Ridge 6 2007 Farragut 42 Oak Ridge 7 2008 Farragut 34 Oak Ridge 8 2009 Farragut 32 Oak Ridge 7 2010 Farragut 24 Oak Ridge 21 You know what they say about paybacks!!!
  22. I believe you can! D.B. has 7 district games that are regionally-mandated by the TSSAA , but their 3 non-district games could definitely be bolstered. Clinton will be a terrible 5A team and will offer little competition ; Farragut will finish 5-5 , 6-4 at best ; and Sevier County schedules like D.B. does-only Upper East Tennessee schools. As a result , both schools end up with gaudy records and players with big heads. If more quality non-district opponents were played ( Maryville , Oak Ridge, Riverdale , M.B.A., Ensworth ) , the Indians would get a better read on where they stand and how they need to improve. I think this would prove beneficial come play-off time. If you keep on doing what you've always done , you'll keep on getting what you've always got!
