  1. we've already discussed this, just because you don't post or feel the need to respond to every thread you read, doesn't mean you've been in retirement. but if that's what you'd like to call it, be my guest. also, @Red Rebels, you're probably a lot younger than me, so you should be aware of the forgot password link. but, like i said, if you've been active on here and just not posting, then, you remember that little password to login. there's been more 'new users' on here in the past few weeks who have created accounts within 24 hours of their first post on multiple threads about our local schools. it is what it is. as for being 'pretty related' with @camppack, i'm not even sure who they are, much like many of the others on here. i know a handful (if that) of users, but that's about it, and i've been around TN high school sports for awhile. and to address one final statement, i have no hurt feelings and am not jealous of anything that anyone at these schools is going through. just honestly hope the best for the kids.
  2. this coach is telling everybody he's making 6 figures? or which horse's mouth are you referring?
  3. just saw his contract and salary with UT just ended Jan 31, 2022. wonder if he'll be named in the case with UT/Pruitt. i say that because so many on twitter have jumped to immediately saying ''this coach does it right'' and they ''will miss him on the recruiting trail'' if you're such a big offensive mind and wanted by so many schools, why did UCF recently turn him down, why are other colleges not jumping at the bit? including other area high schools? possibly they know something we don't? maybe there are accusations directly against him? i hope someone has done their due diligence and this doesn't backfire --- especially for the players sake.
  4. wondering that as well. from what I've seen, there are other assistants from that staff that have taken on high school jobs currently until this case with Pruitt and UT 'blows over' sure hoping for the best out at heritage. also, Hammontree is currently at Heritage as the strength and conditioning coach for all athletes, but word is that he isn't retiring from coaching, if offered a position elsewhere, he'd consider it.
  5. honestly, I really hope everything turns around for everybody in the county schools. I was concerned for whoever took this position. it's deeper than the actual coach. like you said, emergency CPR... I guess we'll see what happens.
  6. wonder how you put together a staff... I mean that genuinely. blount county schools aren't paying teachers excessively and coaching supplements are not even raising an eyebrow. i'm not so sure there are other former college assistants, let alone other high school coaches wanting to take large pay cuts (among other issues) to try to help this program. i hope for the players that i'm wrong. this will be interesting to watch. honestly, i just wish the best for the student athletes at heritage.
  7. word on the interwebs is that there have been some late applicants for the HHS job.
  8. there are just too many questions and not enough answers at this point. hopefully whatever happens works out for the benefit of the athletes there.
  9. as of this morning, it wasn't there. maybe they've decided ?
  10. here's another thing i'm curious about. there was no job posting about the position on BCS. aren't there rules to that?
  11. that's 3 out of 4 ....... is Hunt next?
  12. Baylor just named former tight ends coach at South Carolina their head guy from what I'm understanding.
  13. for you to jump on here and say anything, someone must have hit a nerve with you. how about stop the yelling and make some sense of what you're saying and also make sense of what's been said on here. nobody is saying Osovet is a 'horrible coach', nobody is saying they want good ol' boys. what's being said in this thread is what's occurred over the past 30 years, not to mention the battles coaches in the past 20 years have had alone. if something doesn't change elsewhere within the school system, no coach, whether you're Nick Saban or Vince Lombardi is going to change the program. as for coming out of retirement - one, just because there aren't posts, doesn't mean we aren't reading. two, after you sit for years and watch what happens on the outside while knowing a bit more on the inside, you tend to voice the concerns you have for the students in the community you live in. both coaches resigned at the county schools after years of trying to make it work. that's a concern. should we call you out for making an account less than 12 hours ago? i guess the maturity levels are different here. quit hyping up an offense that if it actually were the nation's best, coach wouldn't be trying to land any possible area high school job that's open. have you talked to the man? do you know something we don't? we're not on his back, we're trying to make sense of the situation. you seem to be the only one that's for this hire. other than his coaching history you found on the internet, please tell us what makes this man the perfect coach for these specific kids at this specific time... sit down, or in fact, take several seats...
  14. glad you joined to chime in - just a few things: Coach Osovet has been seen on heritage campus. we all have google, but thanks for giving us the guy's Linkedin bio. would you like to provide us with his famous hashtag as well? also, I'm blaming what? the decades of the same lack of support and multiple turnover? I see a lot of others placing blame as well, and it's heading to the same place. I'm not the only one that knows it starts at the top. if you were one of the best offensive minds in the country, why haven't you been scooped up somewhere? that's interesting. look, I've got nothing against this coach, but I have everything in this county and a change for the students at heritage AND william blount. hope you aren't wishing a heart attack on me, I'm not the spring chicken I used to be.
  15. it really is sad, and it's terrible that one or two coaches are scapegoats when this has been ongoing and trending downward for decades. i know when Coach Hammontree came in, he cleaned house and angered a lot of people. only problem was, the upstairs and attic of that house needed to be cleaned as well. I'm not sure this coach is the answer. especially seeing all the social media posts in regard to his possible hiring. you can have a 'former college coach' but if nothing changes... nothing changes. it's a shame that there are people still walking on egg shells to save face. if you truly care about the students at HHS, do something. step up.
  16. from what I'm hearing, he was the only applicant...
  17. it's looking like parents and players aren't too thrilled with this idea even though nothing is official yet. I guess William Blount and other schools in the area not hiring him meant nothing to those at HHS.
  18. I can understand this, truly with the one or the other. I just think of how strength and agility and size can still mean quick and athletic, example: Jordan Davis UGA.
  19. nailed it. discipline, hard work, speed and agility training, trusting your teammates and yourself, learning to be all in, not trying to be the 'big playmaker' or looking for the next big play, it's about the larger picture. you're right about the similarity of X's and O's throughout east TN, but also, I think size is lacking. we do not see the lines we used to in East TN. strength training is so important and sometimes overlooked. I think Reeves is on point. from what I've seen, it seems the kids are behind him, let's hope that trickles down through the halls and more students choose to play ball.
  20. I saw that. A great change from years past. I believe middle school did well this past season also. I think, though, when you're a young coach and are looking to grow within a program and have the opportunity to surround yourself with a community of not only a group of good coaches, but parents that provide the support needed, you make that decision to move. Can't fault any of them for not staying longer than they did.
  21. yes, and from what a couple have told me, he encouraged them to do what's best for their families and take those positions. this would also show that if these coaches were good enough for Maryville, then they are really quality coaches and it must not be the staff at heritage, but a bigger problem, wouldn't you agree?
  22. i've noticed on some other threads that mention the overturn of coaching staff at heritage under Coach Hammontree. i've talked to former assistant coaches of his and i can tell you one thing. none of them left because of him, they left because of the system. they left for a better opportunity for their families. they left to move back home, they left because they felt like the program wasn't supported enough. do you know how many of them told Coach to give up? told him he was beating his head against a wall? that nothing was going to change and he needed to get out? all of them. do you know how many former players came back to coach in the midget leagues and the feeder programs to help bring the high school program back to life? and do you know how many finally quit and gave up because of constant bickering and battering from parents? all of them. i tip my hat to coach for putting up with all that's occurred in the past 10 years to make sure the kids there knew they had someone they could trust. he didn't give up on them. at this point, at his age, he just can't keep pushing with nothing budging. i saw something on twitter about the coaching tree of Coach...here are just a few: George Quarles - ETSU Jason Phillips - Alcorn Caine Ballard - former Greeneville head football coach with 4 state championships Shawn Quinn - VT Kyle Richardson - Clemson there are many others at the high school and college levels, i just picked the ones that would be known locally. i get that coach is an old school coach, most parents do not like that he does things a certain way and he can be pretty harsh sometimes, but the coddling that parents are demanding is unreal. high school sports are becoming pretty political in so many aspects and there is way more handshaking, kissing babies and making sure junior doesn't get his feelings hurt because he's not starting and he has started every game since he was 6. a lot of high school coaches if they get the chance, they will turn to college positions. high school and college are completely different worlds. the kids get recruited and then that's that. it's one on one, no parents calling, emailing, showing up at practice, checking them out of school, you get the idea. the point to all of this is that you can be a heck of a coach and put together a staff of incredible offensive and defensive minded people, but if you do not have the support, equipment and more to succeed, it just won't happen, not at heritage, not at any school. but this isn't about Hammontree anymore, he just can't be used to blame and as a scapegoat. 'former college coach' or not, if this Coach O guy comes in thinking he can pull an elephant out of an ant hill, he's got another thing coming. until something at the top changes, it all stays the same and then he jumps ship as soon as his phone rings. what's the definition of insanity again? doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result? something has got to give somewhere for this program to have even a chance at thriving again, and honestly, whoever takes over, i wish it happens for them.
  23. I'm not so sure I'd blame Coach Hammontree for the position they're in, especially after mentioning your displeasure with the current AD. Considering coach's time there hasn't been all rainbows. Since his taking of the job, there's been 3 separate principals alone, multiple different administrators, change of board members, etc. It literally starts at the very, very top. You cannot bring something back to life when everybody continues to walk out and your hands are tied. I'm not saying the coaches you mentioned aren't up to par or shouldn't have been considered, but it needs to be understood, this isn't one person. the horrible state of the program at heritage existed long before Hammontree arrived. it's certain people in certain positions from board to high school to middle school. also, from what I've gathered over the past 15 years, everybody wants change, they do... but nobody wants to make the effort, put in the work or come together to create that change. it's just talked about and swept under the rug. some people higher up need to stop walking on egg shells, pull up their boot straps and dig in.
  24. do you feel this is due to conflict of interest and him being AD and a head coach of a sport at HHS? or.... ?
