  1. hmmm...okay looks like I got blocked on some of those, and those are USBA, Tennessee Prep Hoops, and Future 150
  2. Thanks gottcha. I knew about the Future 150. I guess I need to list the sources I already have and see if anyone knows any extra: www.unapproved website coacht (of COURSE) Unapproved Website www.usatodayhss.com www.elite100showcase.com Unapproved Website www.agamesportsplex.com THAT'S IT!
  3. Alright all you b-ball eggheads out there, I need some help. I have a son that has played AAU ball for 3 years, and he's been picked up on a good team for next year also so you'd think I would be better informed than I am!! Not the coach's fault though: I blame myself. I guess we get calls from people inside the circles we've made over the last few years, but i keep wondering if there's something better we could be doing with our time. Also I always invariably feel like we're missing out on individual tournaments and camps (for instance, I just found out last week about unapproved website's CPA invitational after it was over). 1. Where do I find info weekly or daily on GOOD camps, clinics and tourneys that individuals can attend? 2. What are some of your favorite resources? Elitehoops.com? unapproved website? I need an EXHAUSTIVE list so every suggestion is welcome. THANKS!!! The Goob
  4. Yeah, the big kid is pretty impressive to just be a freshman. He's been picked up for the coming year by AAU Tennessee Tigers or the Travelers (can't remember--whichever one Corey Stanton was on). That gives us the inside game we've needed, but now our transition/outside game is lacking b/c of the injury. I also agree with the captain: Macon will surprise some people too this year. All this to say: gonna be an interesting year for 9AA, and I'm SO ready for it!! Do you have a fairly complete list of the Sycamore starters Pitchy?
  5. Oh God, I HOPE my Bobcats aren't last this year!! BUT, it will be a rebuilding year--especially now since Brown went down with a season-ending knee injury--so who knows? I would put WH a rung lower (didn't they lose a lot of seniors?), but everything else is pretty similar on my list. I like Lynn and Hunter at Goodpasture, Smith at Sycamore, McPherson (of COURSE) at Macon, and Young at Greenbrier. I didn't see anyone else in the off-season so my list isn't complete. Oh, and good jab on the lions
  6. I saw the 13u Burners at a couple tourneys last year (12u at the time) and wasn't impressed. The Stallions out of Nashville and a USBA team both beat them if i'm remembering correctly. What about the Tennessee Tigers? are they any good this year in that age? Also Tenn Panthers & Tenn Travelers?
  7. Greenbrier middle has had a great year so far. They're 8-1 in district/county play--I wouldn't have given them 3 TOTAL wins after seeing them at the beginning of the season, but they've each evolved into their own roles. As long as the guards don't get rattled and the big kid plays aggressive they can beat anyone they face!!
  8. @gettozero--sorry for the no reply-i've been out of a pocket a couple days. Good luck with the team this year
  9. @dadtimesfive-thanks for the info. Because of his size we regularly go to camps for handling drills and footwork, then we'll alternate to a position camp the next time (also helps break up the monotony). Looks like he's been picked up by a team that was rated 2nd in the midstate last year as of Saturday. Thanks for all the help.
  10. I also heard Ryan Hatten at Hunter in Hendersonville is a game changer. 6'4" and 2 dunks already this season.
  11. #54 Greenbrier Middle 6'6" tall, soft hands, good floor vision, about 14ppg, 5 blocks/game, assists, steals, etc. good team leader
  12. Middle Tennessee is where we would like to stay. We have a friend that used to travel to Knoxville 3x a week from Nashville to practice as a sophomore, and now he doesn't even play. Don't want the kid to get burned out from road time.
  13. I have a YOUNG 8th grade son that is 6'6" tall and I'm looking for a QUALITY AAU team to put him on at the end of the middle school basketball season. He's good at post and point. Very smart too. I want a team that has coaches with mentors' hearts, not someone with a questionable reputation or a knack for making a name for himself by exploiting his players. HONEST answers are needed please. thanks
  14. Greenbrier Middle has one 6'5" kid and everyone else is under 5' it seems, yet they won against a good Heritage team last week and a mediocre Jo Byrns team last Thursday. I like that they're finding ways to win. What do East Robertson and Coopertown have this year? Anxious to hear from those guys, or Springfield or Davidson Academy fans.

well then lets speak to GHS' future (since this year looks so dismal). do they have any players coming up besides young and brown?
  16. Just to weigh in: saw Greenbrier in a few preseason games. Good outside shooting by Peach, Brown, & Young in the games I saw--but without a dominant inside presence from first string on down the line, all they'll be able to afford this year is a win or two over .500 Good full court hustle and good ball pressure as always, but no inside meat again this year.
  17. I agree with Kevin38. Although I'm a Greenbrier fan, I think the edge goes to Spfd tonight. BTW, what was the occurrence?
  18. They won't win, but Greenbrier will be consistent like they always are. I believe they beat Springfield two years ago on the road? Veteran offensive line including a couple HUGE tackles (6'5", 320lbs and 6'3", 280lbs), 3-year starter in backfield, a more athletic quarterback, and a district tackle leader at MLB from last year. I agree with the cooler heads on here: steady programs bring steady results. Still a loss for Greenbrier though: 27-17 Springfield wins.
  19. I watched my 12 year-old play in the West Nashville Sports League 13U tournament this weekend at USBA (March 4-6), and what a GREAT tournament!! I haven't seen 7th grade talent on almost every team like this in a tournament in a while. His team (USBA) was the runner-up, but the experience was AWESOME! I have nothing but respect for the Celtics, Panthers, Alabama Bulls, and every other team that participated. A lot of the other teams had players we had played with or against. We played 7 games, and nothing but hard-nosed hustle and talent is what I witnessed. Opposing teams' parents, opposing teams' players--EVERYONE was respectful, knowledgable, and engaging. THANKS FOR THE EXPERIENCE!! If you were there for this age group or another, please post YOUR thoughts.
  20. Great advice. Again, if you know any good week-long or even just single-day camps at colleges or reputable high school programs please forward them to me. Thanks for all the help!!
  21. Does anyone have insight/ opinion on this years' pool of players at USBA in Franklin? Good or bad? What about the coaching?
  22. My son won't be 13 until June 15th. Would he be eligible? He's 6'2" tall.
  23. Thanks Brooksclary I'll check it out!! Have you used them??
  24. For the last 3 years I've been told many different things from many different people regarding the seasonal and off-season limits/guidelines for middle school basketball teams. At my son's school 3 years ago the coach was able to post a win-loss record totaling about 25 games (including pre- and post-season). Now ever since then the new coach only schedules about 10 games, there is little or no pre-season scrimmaging, and the post season consists of county tournament play only. What are the rules??? I'm told by the current coach that they can't schedule any more due to TSSAA regulations which he says is their governing set of rules. Please help with clarification. THANKS!!
  25. No kidding, 66in74--you should see the food bills between him and my 12-year-old (6'3" basketball)!! I agree with you on the hands-off nature (on MY part) of the calls and emails: I learned at the Pinewood Derby when I was a Scoutmaster not to be one of those parents that does the projects for his kid! I have some friends that played at Lambuth when I played for coach Coutras at Cumberland, and they are proponents of NAIA football too. They loved the program and got a great education out of it. No problems with the Facebook and academics, and the coach is working with me to get a highlight DVD together like bluemom suggested. And bluemom--sorry I didn't reply back to you earlier. I am taking ALL this advice to heart and passing it on to my son. I've even had someone affiliated with Frontline Scouting contact me, but i haven't called him back yet. I'm sure they can help with all this too? PS...if any of you kids has information on mid-state lineman camps I would greatly appreciate some contact info please. THANKS!!
