the reason I dont answer this - is I dont want to take away from any wrestler I dont know well enough on their trip to state. I have firm choices and some that if they really put it all together can medal... just takes an upset or two... You asked for a number of how many will medal and seven is mine...

Ijustdontunderstand, that Begley has no competition is the highest compliment of his wrestling skill and speaks volumes. No one in this region can even come close to pushing him this year... Yep there is no longer a big dog in the Region which is good for everybody including Science Hill. I dont think the region is at odds, I hope the region is together, I see it in the parents for the most part and coaches getting along which, trickles down to the kids even with opponents after the match getting along and talking at times after the fray. Congrats to Buzzy and Tim as well on a very successful year...

Last thing then I bounce to church... I think sincerely Region 1 is improved significantly and I think five teams have kids that should place at state... That is a significant improvement, the youth programs in the area are the key as all of theses kids have had youth experience and growth and the few that didn't benefit from tougher kids that did. Not claiming to be something the region is not but I think 8 kids with decent brackets have a true shot at placing from this region. My hope is for all of them regardless of team having seen these young men mature since kids in youth tournaments all over Tennessee. I hope they go out and surprise and exceed my educated guess...

wrestling observed - Dewey Pendley and Hunter Bagley (yeah I know but its true...) were the two kids who stood out, Hurley looked crisp and will do great again at state and Begley didnt have much competition. English is a better fit at 182 for a run at state where he should place. Trent Nelson was also outstanding on par with Pendley in the wow factor. Latham was game at 195 and has outstanding character in his finals defeat, and yes its worth noting in today's age...

the last few times I have seen him wrestle his shoulder has caused injury time, guessing something in there that needs scoping. Now on to the regionals... Please when you run a tournament like this that could sincerely be completed in 4-5 hours easily do not stretch it to nearly 10hours...

Rankings are fun and for fun only in my opinion... No better sport in the world for proving or debunking them...

The world has gone MAD!!! I side with the coach... If young ladies are going to wrestle, then they can deal with some of the more spartan aspects of the sport and if the coach thinks the length of hair (below her butt) affects performance then the coach is the coach... Likely a tax payer funded settlement comming of course...

Athletics they are even.. if they are then also technically even - you are looking at a toss up, I believe it will be a close match, at even weight between Nyguen and English - slight edge to English on strength... I think 195 finals will be tough match as well...

I agree more stalling needs to be called more quickly when it is actually happening, then you dont get into quick calls at the end of matches that can look inappropriate based on the entire match letting it go without a call. Also tight waist starts seem to have become the norm as well. I really wish empasis on agressive but smart offense was the norm, but Im not sure sometimes...

your not the only one hoping that match happens but Hunter told me he heard the kid dropped a weight class this week, on track looks like he is right... also looks like the ranked kid at 195 Poole at Pigeon Forge dropped this week too... Hunter is prepared and hoping he gets to wrestle both of those guys this week... sure hope he does... Thanx for the team list great tournament line up!

didn't mean to overlook Latham at 220 or wherever he ends up, he is a good kid strong and fit and improved from beginning to end last year, also forgot Armstrong at 138 definitely the physically strongest kid at that weight in the region and has some skills, yep should be in finals, also forgot not intentionally the 145 at Volunteer saw him once but remember now he impressed me. English was bigger then Hunter, looked at the film to confirm it, probably a tough drop on his frame... With Hunter and Ankuah pushing each other they are going to be a tough one two punch for bonus points in the regionals, and Rolston may be the most improved wrestler I have seen this year in understanding pins are better than points in the end...

Now the Season has begun! amazing how fast it passes half gone already... So now we should be able to make some regional weight predictions right? Narrowing down to two. 106 between Williams and Nelson If Williams drops 113 Bynum and Williams if Williams doesn't drop 120 I don't know enough 126 Yother and who? 132 Hurley and - I don't know enough 138 Pendley and who? 145 Jeffers and who? 152 Griffen and who? 160 Begley and who? 170 Dean and Rolston 182 Nyguen and who? 195 Bagley and English 220 Kalageros ( if he comes back) and who? 285 IDK Anybody want to fill in the blanks and or have other opinions would like to see them.
