  1. I'm not sold on O.S. just yet http://www.coacht.com/tennessee/inside/schedule.cfm?schoolid=386&seasonid=155&sportid=2& It looks like Clarkrange is the only decent team they played close, 26-52 against Kingston Thursday night? and a 33-59 loss to Loudon. I don't think they should be crowned just yet, lol It also looks like Coalfield girls beat up on Jellico 42-59, but again, that's Jellico, a last place team in the district. I have no doubt they'll be good, they usually are, but again...Jellico :s Oakdale on the other hand, they may be the real deal, they're playing tough games to start the year out: http://www.coacht.com/tennessee/inside/schedule.cfm?schoolid=374&seasonid=155&sportid=2& They may end up being the districts no.1 team. Looking at Wartburgs scores, it looks like Kingston put a smacking on Oakdale, Oliver Springs AND Wartburg: http://www.coacht.com/tennessee/inside/schedule.cfm?schoolid=54&seasonid=155&sportid=2& I can't find much on Oneida, all I know for sure is, this is going to be a fun year, looks like it's Oakdale to me, then a pod of 2nd place teams, time will tell Wow! Just noticed Sunbright beat Rockwood! Go Tigers!
  2. Any updates/news on any of the other 4A Teams? How is Oakdale, Oliver Springs, and Coalfield looking? Has Oneida made big gains with the coaching change? What about Sunbright and Jellico?....anybody....
  3. I got to see them at Harriman last night, and your right BulldogPlayerMom, they have really improved since the Sweetwater game I seen them blow in the 4th period. Harriman made a little run late in the game, but the girls played tough and stopped Harrimans momentum. I didn't see alot out of the Freshmen, but you can see plenty of potential there. The Seniors also seemed to play better and lead better. It was a fun game to watch, I thought Higgins would be a big factor, but they really kept her under wraps, she even fouled out kind of early. Davis has his Lady Dogs looking much better than what I seen in their first game. Kudos to Kidd, Davidson and Laughter, I thought they were game changers.
  4. Saw the Girls and Boys play Sweetwater tonight, the Boys looked good, but the Girls blew a good lead. Not sure your right about Wartburg beating Oakdale, Oliver Springs, or Oneida. Davis is a good coach, so we'll wait and see. I can see them splitting some of those games.
  5. "not sure she will ever get the power needed in the post"??, lol Your right, she's a big girl, but I have to disagree with the rest of your remark. I watched her go in and shut the easy rebounds/points down on a couple of teams this year. I think she needs to work on her footwork and stamina. She seems to not be able to give a ton of minutes...but you could tell a difference when she was in the paint during the games. Between her and Davidson, that will be one tough combo.
  6. I think their middle school coach is a really good coach from what I've seen. What are the chances of her getting the job on the high school level? or did I just get a bad read and she isn't as good as I thought? Or maybe the high school coach is better than what I thought?
  7. It looked to me like the Oakdale guards were just blowing by Wartburgs guards and scoring in the paint. I'm not sure what else #23 and #24 could have done, (besides hit some shots, lol) they held Oakdales post pretty much in check, but yeah, I agree completely that they all looked asleep. I didn't see one player from Wartburg play very well. I honestly think it was the worst shooting I have seen out of them all year. I think they over achieved this year, nobody expected them to finish as strong as they did, and I think next year they will be fine. Oakdale will still be strong next year, I think it will be Oakdale and Wartburg fighting for the top positions next year. Coalfield will lose alot I'm afraid, I even heard one Coalfield daddy talk about wishing his kid would go to Oakdale next year, but I just can't see that happening. Oneida and Oliver Springs,...can't count them out either, they all have some good players coming back. It will be fun! Good luck to your Jackets tonight, both of tonights teams deserve to keep playing.
  8. The Coalfield/Rockwood game turned out exactly like I thought it would. The Wartburg/Oakdale game had the result I thought it would, but Wartburg made Oakdale look much better than they actually were that night. Oakdale couldn't miss, even the contested shots...Wartburg, they couldn't throw it in the ocean, choke city! I look for Coalfield to give them alot better game than they had on Monday. I think it's a toss up, especially since Kilby looked like she had a bad wheel the other night, she didn't look full speed. If I HAD to pick, I'd go with Oakdale winning a close one.
  9. Yeah, I think next year will be their year. Kristy Phillips and Tori Phillips sharing PG play. Kelly Kidd on the wing will be deadly, and Haley Hurtt can "hurt" you if you forget about her. Then you have Sarah Davidson and Madison Laughter on the inside (speed and power). Then there's Chelsea Lowe, if that girl gets healthy, she is a fighter and can play almost anywhere they need her. On top of that they're suppose to be a good freshman class coming in. I think next year they will be the team to beat. Oh! I don't wan to forget their Freshman post, Keele Mathis..she might be able to provide some quality minutes seeing as she is a true south paw, that left hand hook/shot of hers could develop into something really nice. I think they'll be good inside AND out.
  10. Not to take anything away from Rockwood, they made it this far and that's great! but I think Coalfield ends their season Monday night. The Wartburg/Oakdale match up, that will be a good one. I expect Oakdale to play their best game of the year, they want to avenge that loss in the District. I really think Oakdale may win it, but I think it's going to be a good game. This is a tough match up for both teams, they both have played well enough to deserve the win and to keep their seasons alive.
  11. It looks like we're getting ready to play the District tournament round 2 now, lol I wish Oneida had pulled off the win, but oh well...all the Morgan County teams won!
  12. It's almost game time folks, and we shall soon see! I can't wait!
  13. I've seen them all play except Tellico, and I think 4a comes out on top. Wartburg vs Harriman, Harriman won at Wartburg early, Wartburg started playing better as the season progressed and beat Harriman on their home floor. With Wartburg hosting them Friday night, and playing better than they have all year, I think Wartburg wins. Coalfield vs Tellico...I don't know, I havent seen Tellico play, but it looks like Rockwood beat Tellico twice this year, which means speed kills..and Jordan is speed, so again I pick the 4a team, Coalfield. Oakdale vs Greenback...Oakdale started slow against Oneida, which surprised me because I thought after being upset by Wartburg, they would have more fire and determination from the start. They did show the fire though, it just took them 3 periods...Oakdale is alot better than their seed, I pick Oakdale. Oneida vs Rockwood...I watched Wartburg beat them the first time they played this year, and I watched Wartburg get beat on Rockwoods court late in the season. After the district tourny seeds had been set, so the loss at Rockwood really didn't mean much, and it didn't look like the Wartburg girls had any "want to" in them that night. Oneida is a good team, and I think if they played an entire game they could win it, but...I'm not sure they can finish, I'm hoping they can...just so I can't be accused of picking all 4a Schools, I'll make this one a toss up. I'll pick Rockwood, but wouldn't be surprised hearing Oneida beats them.
  14. You guys made a good run at Oakdale, Your girls had them down 17 I believe at one point..then they looked like they self destructed in the 4th? If those girls get their stuff together, and learn to finish a game like that, they will be tough.
  15. I got educated today folks, I learned who picks the tournament MVP. I also heard he took alot of grief over the decision. I wouldn't want to have a decision like that laying on my shoulders. A position like he was in, would be WAY worse than being a politician...no way would he have been able to make a choice and not make someone mad. I like the guy, and I think he would make the fairest decision possible. That being said, Jordan was the best player on the court, if that is what decides the MVP, he made the right choice. imho
  16. I agree she was the best player, not everybody on the court are div I signees, lol My argument would be, who was the most valuable to their team during this tournament? I think Kidd was more valuable to Wartburg than Jodan was to the Jackets. Coalfield doesn't finish 2nd without Jordan, but...that IS 2nd....Wartburg had 3 upsets that wouldn't have happened without Kidd, AND they won the tounry.
  17. Looks like you got your wish eaglefan...Lady Dogs pulled off another upset! The Eagles finally woke up and played some ball late in the game, and all the pieces fell together for you. I thought Kidd deserved tourny mvp though, just my opinion. She was the most valued player on the District Championship team. Now all we have to do is wipe out region 3A, good luck to all our 4A teams!
  18. I agree with the posts about Wartburgs chants being out of line, and also about the Oakdale callers on the radio, classless on both ends. As for the caller on the radio saying it was "home cooking" and the refs fault, I have seen almost every game at Wartburg as well as their away games, and that is the first time I have ever even seen that officiating crew. Anyway, back on topic. I think Monday night Coalfield wins a close one, and Oakdale comes out on top. So my heart says Wartburg, but my good sense says Coalfield! lol Wartburg beating Oakdale wasn't a big surprise to me, Wartburg played them close both times this year, and after watching the girls play OS, it looked like they had hit another gear. I just wasn't sure they could repeat that performance. In some ways they didn't, Wartburg had 21 turn overs the first half of that game. If they play like that against Coalfield, it won't even be a close game. 1.) Coalfield 2.) Wartburg 3.) Oakdale 4.) Oneida
