  1. rob sherrill's predictions for state are on line now at www.TennWrestling.com what do you think of them? silverbullet - where are yours?
  2. well, if he wins his first one, quinn will certainly carry him into the consolations. once in the consols he would have to get past the clarksville guy (4th place in region), and then...then it gets real hard. hope joey makes it!
  3. thanks! so is the 135 bracket the only one that has been revised since yesterday?

  5. yes, ranked #'s 1,2,3,4,5 are all in the bottom. but then they could only seed 3 wrestlers (seaman, west, furman) by the rules, so that's the luck of the draw.
  6. who are the qualifiers from region 2?
  7. yes, great picks tike, and great wrestling, too! ACTUAL Finals: 103- Tido(ER) TF Turner(SD) 112- Gooden(RB) MD Fuller(SD) 119- James(SD) P Hoover(ER) 125- Bird(ER) D Brown(SD) OT 130- Furmon(RB) P Wright(ER) 135- Lane(SD) over Zaloum(Hix) 140- Gooden(RB) P Helton(Hix) 145- Phillips(SD) TF Appleby(Hix) 152- Jeffers(ER) P Summers(Hix) 160- Shipley(SD) D Cook(GC) 171- Sharp(Hix) over Cooper(Ool) 189- Campbell(SD) P Hudson(Hix) 215- Henderson(SD) P Overby(ER) 275- Harding(ER) MD Mason(Hix) ["over" means that i didn't write down or remember the decision.] i would love to see another rematch of bird v brown in the state finals! they sure have put on some dramatic matches for us.
  8. mr hanson, i almost didn't respond to your angry post, but i think i can speak for a lot of wrestling fans and families who are neither connected to the blue or the black: most of us would LOVE to see the best 2 teams in TN wrestle. this does not have to come to personal insults or assaults. we can have differences of opinions and have fun expressing them. i think the best thing that was said this year about the mccallie-bradley situation was stated by a mccallie wrestler (lee c) and responded to sincerely by the bradley coach. i'm hoping that that will prove to be the first step toward a good conclusion - whatever that conclusion will be. tim jeffers 5' 10' (but i'm not about to admit my weight) i'd be happy to meet you at the round house next week and say 'hey.' look me up in the orange section. 9. (no, my bad, sly. bad joke that is. i guess i should leave the levity to those more proficient at it.)
  10. almost. move your #8 up one spot and put #5 where #8 was
  11. "calculated plan"?! this is wrestling!
  12. region IV tourney: saturday (tomorrow) at soddy's wrestling center weighins - 8:00 wrestling - 9:30 finals are estimated for 4 or 5:00 p.m.
  13. ok region V coaches, send your requests in: who wants to switch to region III? - - - and who wants to beef up region IV with your team? - - - none? but i wouldn't be surprised if some of you wouldn't like to vote some OTHER teams out of your region down to chattanooga, tho.
  14. [this was sent to me from ER Coach Brad Jackson] Tim, I got an e-mail about the brackets at our region. Please post this for me. I think everyone should know some of these facts. I do not know how to do this forum talk. HAHAH To all wrestling coaches, fans, and other people interested in wrestling: I do not read these articles that many people write about on these websites. Some are very controversial issues that I would prefer not to get into. People have very good arguments on both sides of very difficult issues. This is why and how all of us learn and grow. This might be the reason that I am not as well knowledged as many of you. And that I havent grown for many years except in my waist line which is very obvious. There has been a question about the Brackets in Region 4. I agree they are weak in numbers and quantity. But our region has been, and will still be very strong in quality. I do not have the time to research everything but I will put alot of money that our region is either at the top or close to it for many, many years in the state place finishers that we put out. There can be arguments about team scoring because of first round matches but there is really no argument about place finishers. I can argue that at the state duals the best 8 teams are not represented. I am sure that Al Miller feels this way at Cleveland. I know that I do. There will always be controversies over what is fair and what is not fair. Once our region quits producing state champions like we have and place winners like we have, then those opponents can argue as much as they want. I will then agree with you 100 percent. Here are the facts: 2002 State Team Place Finishes 2. Soddy Daisy 5. East Ridge 10. Hixson 13. 15. there are no brackets in region IV where you don't have to win to get to state. none. also, if a weak wrestler were to make it to state they would have no chance of scoring any points - unless, of course, you are saying that other divisions are filling state with even weaker wrestlers that finish higher than 4th! i heard someone mention the possibility of each region just sending 3 to state, and then have a 24 man bracket. the region winners would have a bye the first round. would that weed out the "weak" wrestlers? i personally like the 32 man bracket and would argue for full wrestle backs, to mitigate the effect of the lack of real seeding. tim

connell got majored by stark at father ryan.
  17. i concur, wrestlingfan. if he were at my school (judging solely on what i've read here), i would raise a fuss about such a faculty member.
  18. the board would be pretty boring if everyone only said good things.
  19. you'd have to email rob sherrill about that(tennbest@hotmail.com). there are links to all the ones that exist on the web server.

you could be right. the actual score with jeffers v harrison was 10-3.
  21. the 2 losses were at the knox catholic inv in early december. he wrestled 160 and lost to blockley(baylor) in overtime and another guy (don't have my notes with me) by a point. it was his worst showing ever, but he has not been defeated since. he beat blockley a week or so later in a dual. he then won the mccallie inv, beating connell in the semi's and leet(westminster,ga) in the finals. [for perspective: stark(ryan) was in the same tourney and lost to webb(walton) 14-2 in the qtr's, and then webb was beaten 3-2 by leet in the semi's] he won the central inv, but the competition was not as tough. he has not faced those you listed. the only connection is that he beat connell, and most of those have lost to connell this year. since there is no better tie in, it's really a guess to try to see where he fits in with these guys. catlett, of course, deserves the top ranking. it's a shame that they didn't get to wrestle last night.
