  1. i imagine there are one or two other people staying up late waiting on the brackets.
  2. i agree with tnmat. at 2 seconds to go there was a false start by manson, and then a restart with 1 second left. are you saying that they should have put that one second back on the clock? and on top of that you are saying that manson would have taken him down with that extra second? right. but i'm just not sure then why manson didn't get a SINGLE takedown in the other 5:58 of the match! it was a great close match. bird was wrestling with one hand. and bird happened top score a takedown to win.
  3. click the Refresh button at the top of your screen. did anyone submit the overton bracket results to rob?

    Baylor whips ER

Baylor 60 - ER 12 103 C Manson( p Rudas 4:32 112 Geismar( p Dyer 1:26 119 Leen( p Hoover 3:16 125 Bird(ER) d T Manson 3-2 130 Carson( d Ty Wright 6-4 135 Armstrong( d Marshall 17-14 140 Moore( p Camp 3:04 145 Doster( p Tr Wright 2:28 152 Hodge( p Graham 3:01 160 Jeffers(ER) d Blockley 11-9 171 Schwartz( p Roby 3:00 189 Nation( p Butler 0:49 215 Overby(ER) p Walker 3:32 275 Hufstetler( p Sencabaugh 3:06 there were matches that could have gone either way. Wright was leading Doster 6-2 when he was taken down and pinned. Marshall was leading 14-10 after 2 rounds. graham was just down 3-2 before the move that pinned him. baylor matches up well with east ridge. they do have some weak spots, but ER was not able to take advantage of those.
  5. this is how rob sherrill has them ranked 103: [M.White unranked] 112: M.Roberts (5th) 119: C.Cleveland (2nd) 125: J.Silberman (2nd) 130: S.Manley (2nd) 135: J.Blair (1st) 140: S.Levitt (1st) 145: A.Smith (1st) 152: R.Scott (1st) 160: L.Connell (1st) 171: G.Vatt (3rd) 189: F.Rudolph (3rd) 215: [Hutchenson/Green unranked] 275: [Martin/Hutchenson unranked] it doesn't match wingit's lineup, but regardless it looks really strong.
  6. what is mccallie's "starting" lineup? i'm serious. who will be wrestling at what weight? my explanation of why the rankings didn't change last year after ER's loss, but they did this year after mccallie's is: late in the season it is more clear how teams stack up, but the first few weeks of a season there is quite a bit of guess-work on who is wrestling what weight and how some of the younger wrestlers will react to a varsity setting. until mccallie gets a full team out there, it would be risky to rank them too high. just my thoughts.
  7. yes, parks harding did beat crosby once this summer in a very close match. harding lost to crosby 5-3 at knox catholic last saturday. however, he was feeling ill (not to take anything away from crosby's fine victory) and found out monday that he has mono. harding will be lucky if he recovers before the season ends. this is an unfortunate wrinkle in what could be a real exciting year for the big boys.
  8. don't have official results, but this is what i do have: teams 1-Parkview 2-Baylor 3-Lassiter 4-Science Hill 5-East Ridge 103 Manson(Bay) over Jacoulot(Las) fall 112 McNitt(Las) [OW] over Geismer(Bay) 15-2 119 Head(PV) over Hoover(ER) 3-2 125 Leen(Bay) over Bird(ER) 8-3 130 Furmon(RB) over Bosken(SH) 11-6 135 Carter(Rhea) over Knopp(PV) 2-1 140 Cottrell(Far) over Morgan(Bay) 7-5 145 Cody(SH) over Witick(WB) Fall 152 Fiacco(Har) over Boyd(Las) 9-0 160 Casteel(PV) over Antone(SH) 7-4 [bM] 171 Edmonds(SH) over Stromie(PV) 9-4 189 Runnels(Las) over Freel(Kar) 5-3 215 Hudson(PV) over Pereria(Far) 275 Crosby(Gre) over Harding(ER) 5-3
  9. thanks! that's interesting. in that hypothetical situation of a silberman pin and no ER penalty points (39-39), it looks to me (according to my VERY rough unofficial scores) that McCallie would have won on near fall points. not that it makes any difference, but it is fun to figure.
  10. we were told Connell had a hyper-extended elbow.
  11. [ corrected the McCallie 189 wrestler - thanks heavyT23 ] 135 Bobby Marshall(E) p Robbie Robinson 1:00 140 Justin Blair(M) p Kory Custer 1:19 145 Spencer Manley(M) p Travis Wright 0:39 152 Ryan Scott(M) p Chris Graham 1:52 160 Joey Jeffers(E) p Andrew Gardener 1:42 171 Dennis Roby(E) p Bobby Huffaker 3:52 189 NICK HANZELIK(M) p Vincent Butler 0:50 215 Steven Overby(E) p Johnny Hutchenson 1:41 275 Parks Harding(E) p Xan Martin 0:39 103 Michael White(M) p Adam Hoover 2:21 112 Josh Wheeler(M) d Dario Rudas 14-12 OT 119 Justin Hoover(E) p Madison Roberts 3:48 125 Mat Bird(E) d Cody Cleveland 12-6 130 Jack Silberman md Tyler Wright 14-2 final ER 38 - Mc 37 ER was deducted a team point for unsportmanlike conduct after the 103 match. it was an exciting ending. there was some confusion over the tie breaker criteria - some thinking that most pins was the first criteria, which would have meant that mccallie needed a pin in the final match to win by 1. but the first criteria is unsportsmanlike points, which meant that mccallie could have also won by a tech fall (tie). as you see, silberman fell just short of the TF. he held a 14-1 lead at the end but was unable to get wright on his back again, so he released him. just out of curiosity: without the penalty point, who would have won if it were tied by a silberman pin? both teams would have had 6 pins. tim j [Edited by timj on 12-5-02 4:17P] [Edited by timj on 12-5-02 4:19P]

  13. McCallie wrestles East Ridge tonight - 6:00 p.m. at McCallie. 125 - Silberman v Bird would be worth watching - if that's where they wrestle. anyone know the mccallie lineup? sherrill has the following ranked, but he may just be guessing at weights: 112 Madison Roberts (4th) 119 Cody Cleveland (2nd) 125 Jack Silberman (1st) 130 Spencer Manley (1st) 135 Justin Blair (1st) 140 Steven Levitt (2nd) 145 Andrew Smith (1st) 152 Ryan Scott (1st) 160 Lee Connell (1st) 171 Garrett Vatt (3rd) 189 Flynt Rudolph (3rd)
  14. check www.TennWrestling.com under "Official's Corner." there is a fairly extensive schedule for middle TN schools. if more schedules were available, they would publish a larger list. tim j
  15. 3rd may be a bit high for ER, but who said they only had 10 wrestlers?? i believe that they have about 10 returning STARTERS. they did graduate 2 state champs, but there is a very solid senior class. 5 or 6 seniors have started since their freshman year.

    152's

i would agree that catlett has a great shot at another state title, but it is a bit much to say with "no doubt" that he would go undefeated this year - especially if he meets ringgold's flynn or blankenship (i'm not sure who's at what weight there this year - anyone know?).
  17. anyone have a summer conditioning/workout plan that would be appropriate for an upcoming high school senior? how much running? what type of running? (distance,sprints,hills...) how much lifting? & type... other conditioning? wrestling workouts in the chattanooga area? thanks
  18. parks harding beat crosby at the nhsca qualifier in soddy a few weeks ago.
