  1. O.R. always has hallway talent. why they dont come out and play? they dont like discipline. its actually ridiculous how we have some of the best talent in the state but they dont play anything at the high school. they'd rather go play unorganized ball at the civic center. i've seen quite a few people over there that are some real good athletes. there are also a few "one sport" athletes that should play other sports they're good at. when we find a way to get all our athletes out on the field/court then we will be the dominant O.R. team like we used to be.
  2. 2005 Oak Ridge. the team dominated everyone they played. shouldn't have lost to ooltewah. were up by like 30 and the jv goes in and loses the lead and just couldn't get the ball rollin our way again. one of the best teams in oak ridge history. and i said "one of the best" because there have been many great teams in the history of oak ridge. remember "The Darkside" defense. and of course spencer gulmire. that '05 team could probably beat the UT teams we've seen the past couple of years. (not saying too much)
  3. Don't think it'll be close at all. Went to practice everyday this week and played last year. They have a different attitude. Losing to FHS is getting old and they're ready to change it. It'll be like in 2005 when they thought FHS would run thru us on TV and they'll end up embarrassing themselves. OR-42 FHS-10
  4. blade is a HUGE disciplinarian. and not just about big things he's that way about everything. putting the scout team jerseys in the bag properly, putting the water bottles back in the bottle carrier, your socks have to be up to your knees on game days, and no arm bands or nothing that represents "i'm a superstar" which is great. and i'm glad guys are buyin in to his system
  5. i know exactly what you're talking about. i played for stephens and blade. u never see someone walking on the football field with blade. and i got to be under one of the best offensive coordinators in the state. Bryson Rosser. he doesn't get enough credit but he took my 2010 team to the semi-finals. great young coach.
  6. i was there too! great game. one of the best ive seen. we also need more people at the games like there were in 05. but we definitely need a tough runnin back
  7. i actually have no idea. graduated and im goin to school in daytona beach now so i don't really know haha. but i'm not so sure about matt moore at running back. was on the team with him as well and joe cobb is more suited for running back than moore. moore is like a fluud kinda guy that just has speed. cobb will knock heads
  8. He was. But he also has a hard time remembering the plays. He's used to just having to know what one position does, he's not used to having to know what every guy on the field is doing including the defense. They should have had him practicing with qbs all throughout high school instead of towards the end of the season last year. That also takes him away from his primary position which is tailback or slot receiver I'm not sure where they have him playing this year. So who will fill that role? O.R. will have a tough time with depth for now but this program continues to rebuild and they will gain depth in the years to come. Look out for the O.R. vs Maryville game to become the game talked about all over the state and the winner of that win state in the next few years.
  9. He is a natural baseball player. Played with him last year. Kid can sling it. His future is definitely in baseball especially with his uncle being a scout for the Brewers. He threw low to mid 80s as a freshman. he needs to focus on his location and i think that is why he's not playing football. he also has a sick curve ball and knuckle ball to go with the heat. personally i think he made the right decision.
  10. Also Blade and many other coaches around the state don't always want their kids playin other sports. They want them to focus on football and only football so they can be the best they can be at football. because of this some kids just stay focused on one sport. i was also in on a conversation where steen and another kid were talking about whether steen should play football or not and the other kid asked "what sport are you best at?" steen answered with "baseball" so the kid told him "then focus on baseball the rest of high school" and i think thats when he made his decision. so that helps froning out but blade will be at a loss unfortunately.
  11. A.C. is also 5a and does not play maryville or riverdale or some top teams in the state. So you have to put that in perspective too. Oak Ridge is the best team in the county period. One of the top 5 in east tennessee. Look out for a huge year by the Cats.
  12. Oak Ridge is known for tradition. Love the helmets. Wearing the cardinal and grey with the O.R. on my helmet was something special. Another great tradition was the stairs. The most famous tradition at Oak Ridge. Before 2006 that was one of the most intimidating things an opposing team could see. Now under Blade the intimidation factor is coming back. O.R. uniforms are one of the top 5 uniforms. Although they are changing the O.R. logo i think it will still look nice.
  13. Riverdale is by far the most dominant school in the state in the past 20 years. they have always been in the top class in a very competitive region. dont get me wrong alcoa and maryville are very good football teams recently. i say: 1) Riverdale 2) Alcoa 3) Maryville and you cant really compare public schools with private schools and 6a's to 1a and 2a and even 3a.
