  1. Agreed. Frye is probably the one to beat at just about any weight he goes. The way he picked Cline apart in the finals last season was ridiculas. Dean could pick up a region title this season at 60 or 70. DB is the team to beat this season in general.
  2. Greenville won't disappoint this season. They may have lost a few but they also still have guys like boatman, vance, and bowman. I really like their chances in the small school setting. I believe boatman will win a state title with ease. Vance has a great shot at placing. I believe bowman will make some noise this season if he is still at 52. He's a really tough kidm
  3. well they have their 106 blanco coming back this season but other than that they're pretty young. They have some tough freshman to watch though. Keep an eye out for Luke Collins and Bryson Hux both kids are tough. Hux at 20 and Collins at 26.
  4. I wish we could see the Begley/Bagley match but with football i wouldnt be suprised if Begelys up at 60. To make up for it we will probably see quite a few match ups with Bagley and Broyles, Frye and Broyles, and even more Frye and Bagley matches. I wouldnt be suprised to see Bagley back down at 45 though. That being said I wouldnt be suprised to see Rolston down at 45 either. He was kind of undersized up at 52 last season. Also what about Landon Porter from Morristown East? He qualified last season at 52 and I heard he put some work in over the summer. He was also undersized for his weight but I wouldnt be suprized to see him anywhere from 45-60.
  5. Has anyone taken time to think about what great matches we could have this season JUST IN OUR REGION!? Obviously i dont know what weight some of these guys are going but just a few that really come to mind Max Vaughn vs Storm Williams--I know Williams didn't qualify last season but he did his freshman year and also put a lot of time in. I see this being a greaytmatch! Probably at 132 early in the season. Palmer Begley vs Austin Bagley--If Begley stays down and Bagley moves up this one could be interesting. Palmer Begley vs Griffin Broyles--A rematch of the region final last year at 152. Could be a much better match because broyles put in quite a bit of time this summer. Palmer Begely vs Josh Spangler--I know it's unlikely but who wouldn't want to see this? Like I said Its unlikely but not impossible begely went up 2 weights last season from 9th to 10th grade because of football so who knows. Frye/Broyles/Bagley--I feel like this I likely scenario. I don't see broyles moving up to 60 anytime soon and Frye and Bagley have probably both grown. We could see a similar race for the championship as we did last year with begley/shropshire/brunson at 195. 52 could be loaded this season. Those are matches I feel like could happen. Opinions anyone?
  6. Thanks humor and there are a few from AAA region 1 that people should be mentioned when it comes to "who to watch at the state level" in region 1. Here's the list and Ive put together. Max Vaughn-12(Science Hill) Austin Frye-12(Dobyns Bennett) Austin Bagley-12(Science Hill) Josh Spangler-12(TN High) Palmer Begely-11(Dobyns Bennett) Griffen Broyles-11(Morristown West) Storm Williams-11(Morristown East)--he's had a great off season Tyler Dean-11(Dobyns Bennett) Landon Porter-11(Morristown East) Corbin Hurley-10(TN High)
  7. I could see warren from ravenwood at 152 moving up a weight or 2. He was a big 52 pounder this season. Also what about Palmer Begley from Dobyns Bennett? Kids a stud but was injured at the state tournament.
  8. Kyle lee is very tough. Owns a freestyle win over nick crawford.
  9. you know marsh you're right. ive been one to do some name dropping but i think ill quit doing that. i mean just think how people are going to react when they step foot on the mat with one of our talented wrestlers from region 1? theyre probably going to walk off the mat feeling pretty silly if they ever said there was no talent in region 1.
  10. 7 region 1 wrestlers make top 10 returning wrestlers at their respective weight classes. http://www.pin-tn.com/?p=191
  11. Do you have a list of teams competing at your tournament?
  12. Really? There have been several that I know have been wrestling everyday and have competed in a few tournaments. Obviously you have your Science Hill kids who wrestle in tournaments but you also have guys that I know have already been putting alot of time this off season like Storm Williams(ME), Virgil English(JCHS), Griffen Broyles(MW), and Jose Blanco(JCHS).
  13. Watch out for some serious studs coming out of AAA region 1. Austin Frye, Corbin Hurley, Max Vaughn, Palmer Begley, Jose Blanco, Griffen Broyles, and Austin Bagley(in no particular order). They're going to be tough to beat next season and the best part is some of them will be competing against each other!
  14. So even though we only have 16 returning State Qualifiers there are still several that I believe could make some noise at states. Primarily these come to mind.. Max Vaughn-12(Science Hill)-Finished in the Top 8 last season @132 Austin Frye-12(Dobyns Bennett-Finished in the Top 8 last season @145 Austin Bagley-12(Science Hill) Finished in the Top 8 last season @145 Palmer Begely-11(Dobyns Bennett)-Was injured in the Round of 16 @152 (I believe he could have placed) Griffen Broyles-11(Morristown West)-Made it 4 rounds @152 Corbin Hurley-10(TN High)-Made it 5 rounds @120 Anyone I should add to that list?
  15. dont forget about huddleston from clarksville finished in the top 12 at his weight i believe
  16. This is a really great thing you are doing! I'm excited to see the improvements that will be made! Iron sharpens iron and it already looks like you have a ton of tough kids!
  17. Region 1(AAA) will only have 16 returning 2013 State Qualifiers next season. Jose Blanco,9-Jefferson County(3rd @106) Gary Hudgens,11-Science Hill(2nd @113) Brad Bishop,9-Dobyns Bennett(3rd @113) Corbin Hurley,9-Tennessee High(Champion @120) Jacob Cutshall,9-Daniel Boone(4th @120) Max Vaughn,11-Science Hill(Champion @132) Alex Jeffers,9-Dobyns Bennett(4th @138) Austin Frye,11-Dobyns Bennett(Champion @145) Austin Bagley,11-Science Hill(3rd @145) Palmer Begely,10-Dobyns Bennett(Champion @152) Griffyn Broyles,10-Morristown West(2nd @152) Landon Porter,10-Morristown East(3rd @152) Ben Rolston,10-Science Hill(4th @152) Tyler Dean,10-Dobyns Bennett(3rd @160) Josh Spangler,11-Tennessee High(Champion @170) Colby Hardin,10-Science Hill(3rd @182) Dobyns Bennett-five coming back with two champions Science Hill-five coming back with two finalists and of them is a champion Tennessee High-two coming back and they are both champions Jefferson County-one returning Morristown East-one returning Daniel Boone-one returning Morristown West-one returning and is also a finalist
  18. A few tough kids from Region 1(large schools) could make some noise state wide next season. Max Vaughn-12(Science Hill) Austin Frye-12(Dobyns Bennett Austin Bagley-12(Science Hill) Palmer Begely-11(Dobyns Bennett) Griffen Broyles-11(Morristown West) Corbin Hurley-10(TN High)
  19. Does the high school line up still look the same?
  20. Looks like a tough group of kids. Does broyles even weigh enough to go 160? I didn't think I'd ever see him wrestle anything higher than 52. Lol I'm excited to hear how they do! Like I said looks like a tough group of kids!!
  21. So there isn't a whole lot changing for the AAA kids then. Do you know where I can find the new regions?
