  1. O.K. this is gonna take a minute and I am gonna give a break down of ALL the short comings of this playoff system by looking at the facts of 2 teams and 2 districts in the Chattanooga area. Now I am not for either team and could make a case for many teams including Cleveland (which could have made a run in the 5A playoffs I believe). Now the 2 teams that were at the cut off in 4A is Notre Dame and East Ridge. I know about every team in the East TN. Chatt. area so we will explore each district also. 1st.... EAST RIDGE (WINS) NOTRE DAME (WINS) Walker Valley 0-10 Open 5A Mcminn Central 1-9 Open 3A East Hamilton 6-4 (4A QUAD2 #1 SEED)District 4A Whitwell 1-9 Open 1A Howard 0-10 District 3A Grace Bapt. Acad. 6-4 Open 1A Hixson 4-6 District 4A Lookout Valley 7-3 Open 1A Chatt Central 3-7 District 4A Taft Youth Center NOT EVEN TSSAA SCHOOL Overall(13-36) Overall(15-25) Taft No Record East Ridge has wins over 4 district opponents Notre Dame has 0 District wins ER has 1 win over 5A OPEN team ND has 5 wins over OPEN teams 3-1A,1-3A,Taft East Ridge (Losses) Notre Dame (Losses) Boyd Buchanon 9-1 (2A Quad 2 #2) OPEN 2A Signal Mountain 8-2 District 4A Ooltewah 7-3 (5A Quad 2 #4) OPEN 5A Bledsoe 9-1 (3A Quad 2 #1) District 3A Red Bank 7-3 (4A Quad 2 #6) District 4A Sequatchie 7-3 (3A Quad 3 #4) District 3A Brainerd 5-5 (4A Quad 2 #8) District 4A Grundy 6-4 (3A Quad 3 #7) District 3A Tyner 5-5 (3A Quad 2 #5) District 3A Chatt. Christian 3-7 District 3A Overall (33-17) Overall (33-17) ER only lost to playoff teams ND lost to a non playoff team ER played 5 4A teams going 3-2 ND played 1 4A team going 0-1 ER played 2 5A teams going 1-1 (both open games) ND played a youth center not in the TSSAA(open game) ER played 2 3A teams going 1-1 (both district games) ND played 5 3A teams going 1-4 (only win open game) ER played 1 2A team going 0-1 (top 2a team at the time) ND played 3 1A teams going 3-0 (all open games) ER was 4-3 in their district (best in chatt. area 4A,3A) ND was 0-5 in a week 3A district ER scheduled 2-5A,TOP 2A team for open dates ND scheduled 3-1A,worst 3A, and youth cntr. for open ER played 7 teams 4A or above going 4-3 ND scheduled 1 4A team or above, DISTRICT LOST 58-15 ER lost by a total of 48 points in 5 games ND lost by a total of 87 points in 5 games against better competition against weaker competition TSSAA strength of team =66 TSSAA strength of team =50 (WHAT) TSSAA schedule rank =78th TSSAA schedule strength =24th (SERIOUSLY) ALSO, ER BEAT ND SOMETHING LIKE 48-6 IN THE SPRING. OK, now the point to this is not to put down Notre Dame or anyone else other than the TSSAA. Above I have broken down the 2 teams that I knew would show the absolute obvious mistakes of the TSSAA. All the facts show that ER should be in the playoffs over ND I have left out all opinion in the debate until now just facts. Please reply, maybe I am wrong but after looking at the body of work ER has the better schedule yet TSSAA says overwhelmingly that ND has the 24th best schedule in the state and they only have 1 4A school on the schedule. There is 5-1A teams in the Chattanooga area, ND has scheduled 3 of them. The 2 they did not schedule was the 2 1A programs that play in the playoffs every year, South Pitt. and Copper Basin. Also on the schedule was Mcminn Central which in the last few years has been like 1-40 and A YOUTH CENTER that is not in the TSSAA. How does that even count for a win for 1 and for 2 how is that the 24th best schedule in the state? If every team on ND schedule played ER schedule then they would all be below .500 except for Signal. This is totally wrong and there are several teams across the state that have been done wrong by the TSSAA way of figuring out which team is deserving of going to the playoffs, the difference is that some of these teams could have won their QUAD. East Ridge and Cleveland are 2 of the teams left out that had a better than 50% chance of it. Now, how could they tweak this to make it work better? Well using the same 2 teams and their districts lets take a look and see if the same could be said in your area. District 7 in 6A is the perfect example, they have 6 solid (all 6A) teams and realistically their district is a playoff game every Friday night. ER district is much the same with 6-4A teams and 2 3A teams. ND is also right there in CHATT. and its district 6 has 2-4A teams and 4-3A teams. DISTRICT 7 DISTRICT 6 RED BANK 4A SIGNAL MOUNTAIN 4A EAST HAMILTON 4A NOTRE DAME 4A BRAINERD 4A SEQUATCHIE COUNTY 3A HIXSON 4A GRUNDY COUNTY 3A CHATT. CENTRAL 4A BLEDSOE COUNTY 3A EAST RIDGE 4A CHATT.CHRISTIAN 3A TYNER 3A SHOULD BE MOVED TO HERE SO THEY ARE ALL 3A SCHOOLS HOWARD 3A SHOULD BE MOVED TO HERE SO THEY ARE ALL 3A SCHOOLS NOTRE DAME AND SIGNAL MOUNTAIN should move to district 7 and make it all 4A schools and vise versa with Howard and TYNER to district 6 with all 3A schools. It is not fair to anyone in the state for a District to be empty with the same level of schools and them take a playoff spot away from a solid team in a district of equal status 3A VS. 4A. Is it fair that SIGNAL and NOTRE DAME are in a district with all 3A teams when they are competing for the 4A playoffs and should win most of the time, or that HOWARD and TYNER have to compete against larger schools to get a shot at the playoffs.. NO... If this were to happen then drive wise it would be easier and closer on ND AND SIGNAL and it would be the same for district 7 teams to travel to HOWARD AND TYNER even though I know they don't want to go there it is only the right thing to do. AFTERALL, you don't have 5 division 1 basketball teams in a conference with 3 division 2 teams and based on overall record depends on who goes to the dance do you? NO D1 may play D2 but they are not in conference with them. TO GET A TRUE PLAYOFF YOU HAVE TO GET THE DISTRICTS LINED UP RIGHT FIRST FROM 3A UP TO 6A, ESPECIALLY IN THE BIGGER CITIES. Also, ER manned up and played a much tougher non-district schedule than ND, agreed? ER ND Ooltewah 5A Mcminn Central 3A Boyd Buchanon 2A (perrenial powerhouse) Whitwell 1A Walker Valley 5A Chatt. Grace Baptist Acad. 1A Lookout Valley 1A Taft Youth Center No Affiliation Note to all coaches schedule all 1A as you can and you will still have a top 25 schedule because the TSSAA computing system is obviously not figuring out who the best teams are. ALSO, ALIGN THE DISTRICTS SO YOU CAN TELL WHO IS OF EQUAL TALENT. I ask you how would you align your district in your area?
  2. Sequoyah would not have won a game in Red Banks district! If they were in a district with other 4A teams instead of all 3A teams they would not be in the playoffs either. RED BANK BY 28
  3. This just in Mcminn just got a QB transfer in from Signal Mountain that threw for 3800 yards and 48 td just this year. Coach Price said they could borrow him for one game since all of their games don't count he really didn't play this year according to TSSAA and all Bo has to do now is check the right box and he can have an ALL-STATE QB against Oak Ridge on Friday. All of Mcminn Co. is standing over BO'S shoulder to show him the correct box. He did it Mcminn now has a QB for the game Friday.
  4. Paper says Mcminn 407 Bradley 202 total yards. For Bradley, Houston with 102 yards on the ground with 72 of those on 1 play, and threw for 94 yards. For Mcminn, Lindsey had 153 and Sanders had 91 on the ground and threw for 163 with 80 yards receiving by Simpson. The turnovers were huge, all but 1 was forced by Mcminn hitting hard. Mcminn was playing prevent bend don't break half way through the 3rd. The first half Bradley had some big runs and it was a game, but in the second half there were no big plays and Mcminn cashed in on some costly turnovers. I actually thought Houston had 2 big runs of 72 and 50 in the first half, but paper don't say so. Regardless that was basically all the Offense Bradley seemed to have on this night, the passing game was not a factor, as I thought it would be the difference in the game, but Nevins shut Stoval down and Bradley couldn't find another option for a breakaway threat. Also the weather may have hampered Bradley's passing game some as I noticed Mcminn stuck to short passes more than they have when I previously seen them, and Bradley seemed to try and keep taking shots down the field.
  5. Greenville has absolutely the nicest high school/college facilities I have ever seen. BARB I seen you guys play last year and was curious as to where some of those seniors went to school and how they have done this year. Especially the QB and RB, UT could have used some of that speed.
  6. Farragut is very big on the lines and at the backers. #14 is a breakaway runner and thats about it. Seen them play Mcminn and they threw the ball on Farragut pretty good, but they are huge as a team.
  7. There you go I totally agree with you there and I DID SEE THAT IN OAK RIDGE LAST YEAR IN THE PLAYOFFS. TOTALLY AGREE THEY OUT-HEARTED BRADLEY WHEN I SEEN YOU GUYS PLAY, AND WAS ROOTING FOR YOU, BECAUSE OF IT. That is what Mcminn defense and offensive line is about, and why I have enjoyed watching them play because they have been outmanned on the line in every game I have seen. Skill positions not outmanned but that desire on the line I love just as I seen in your team last year. Should be a great hard fought game.
  8. I totally agree that history instills pride. And pride makes you who you are, but in a game history and pride does not win football games unless you are playing an inferior opponent who is scared of the jersey on the other side lines. History is good to know but when the whistle blows there it goes.
  9. THANKS, GOOD INFO WANTED TO KNOW WHO TO LOOK FOR! ALSO, you forgot to mention your coach he is a key factor, I think he is one of the best that I have seen around. Should be a good match-up between him and Cagle.
  10. And so you know history in itself does not win football games either.
  11. Tribe fan will let you know their history I am sure he knows
  12. Again with the history? I have no idea I am not a follower of Mcminn throughout the years but I do know their district had to go through Riverdales district in the first round of the old playoff system back in the 90's. WHO DID YOU GUYS USE TO HAVE TO GO THROUGH.
  13. I do not know anything of your team other than what I seen last year. my first post was about what I have seen on Mcminn and was giving you guys a little feel for what to expect from them Friday and what their strengths are. Sweet Science wants to flip it into a chest bumping contest or mine is bigger than yours. I can not give facts on Oak Ridge because I do not know, but I can on Mcminn as I have traveled around and seen about 12-15 different area teams this year. As a whole Mcminn has more athletes than any team I have seen in SE Tennessee including CHATTANOOGA. Farragut is the biggest team I have seen, Mcminn is the fastest. Tell me what Oak Ridge has other than history from the 90's.
  14. I am not involved with Mcminn, so I don't know about there track team but I am guessing you will see it on Friday Night. Nevins is Basketball Star, don't know about the other kids and yes I seen how fast your running back is. Bradley didn't believe it either until it was 41-16 then they realized they only had 2 kids on the field that could run with them. Same team you guys played last year minus 3 players. Good luck Friday.
  15. 1ST off Mcminn did not run the ball against Farragut, the game plan was different than any other game. 2nd off did you really watch the game? Mcminn had wide receiver one after the other run by the defenders like they were standing still but they either dropped the ball or it was a bad pass until the 2nd half and they started connecting (note new offensive scheme). Mcminn gave that game away, they statistically dominated everywhere but the final score. As the season has went on they have fine tuned their running game. I seen OR last year against Bradley and was not impressed at all with the exception of that big lineman that went to Vandy. If that same team that won last year comes to Athens this year they will be in for a long night. I was around Riverdale in the 90's by chance and can tell you Mcminn is not as good but has more kids with speed yes.. As for UT they better start recruiting some of the speed around or Dooley wont be around long. SEC is about speed and that is why we are loosing aka (#10 cb) cant even say his name makes me so mad. Sweet Science I was basically giving you a break down of what I know about the TRIBE you can use this forum as an educated way to talk football or you can use it as a childish way to try and 1 up someone or put them down, but if you think your team will walk into Athens Friday night and walk all over the Cherokees, then you be that guy cause it wont happen they got to many athletes.
  16. Yes sir I do. Lindsey 4.4 and he will catch your guy for sure, Bo said on the news last week that there wasn't a kid on the field that could catch him or as fast as him. Including Houston the little #5 for Bradley that you guys couldn't catch last year. Also, #15 Simpson, #2 Sanders, #7 Nevins, Plaster. Just for the record I ran 4.5 in my day 20 years later and 60 pounds more I ran the other day with my boy and still hold a impressive 5.6 in need of oxygen still today. lol Ask your coach's who some of the best athletes you guys have played against since 2000 and they will tell you Mcminn. Best friend is friends with your coaches. we sell speed in the water down here.
  17. lets quit picking boogers and trying to see who has the biggest. I could care less about what happened 10-20 years ago or the history of either team because Friday night none of those players will be taking the field. As for the QB situation with Mcminn I was under the impression that soph. Trevor Crisp was the QB for the future there. Now I am not sure but I thought I seen him in a cast last week at the Bradley game. If he is a go this week then OR may be in trouble worse than if Simbeck was to play. He had a pick 6 against Voityk earlier in the year and showed his speed which was like a cannon ball shot out of a cannon. Mcminn will have several options at QB other than Trevor or (fresh.)Corbin, if Bo puts Plaster or Simpson back there with Lindsey and Sanders that would be 3 guys in the backfield that runs 4.4-4.5 40 times, which will be very difficult for OR to handle because all the QB would have to do is lob the ball up for Nevins because I don't think there is a defensive back in the state that will out jump him. Regardless of who the QB will be Mcminn will put 5 guys on the field that run 4.4-4.5 40's which will be hard for OR to handle. Defensively Mcminn is small and fast and will absolutely lay the wood, there 2 DE will absolutely put the hammer down. I have not seen anyone drive the ball on them effectively, they usually give up a big play on a busted coverage or being out of position, but no long drives. Now I have seen Mcminn play 3 games this year against Farragut, Cleveland and Bradley. Against Farragut, Mcminn looked like a totally different team than they do now, they mostly only threw the ball and against Cleveland and Bradley seemed to rely on the run and work off that with the pass. In doing so they looked great finishing the year after the Farragut game with multiple 100 yard rushers in most every game. To finish, the loss of Simbeck will definantly hurt Mcminn but if Bo can find the right fit just like he has found the right offense this year, Mcminn will bang out a hard fought 24-20 win.
  18. I will agree with you about your coaching staff they are very good and give your team its best possible chance to win. I will also agree that Bradley had more talent than Oak Ridge. On the touchdown called back (play of the game) the Stoval kid was dragging 2-3 of your defenders about 10 yards down the field and one of the Bradley kids came up from behind at about the 5 yard line to help push him in then at the last second got hit by a OR guy from the side that spun him around stoval and down to the ground in the end zone and as he went to the ground he pulled stoval down with him into the end zone. You can push someone into the end zone but not pull, but I felt like the kid was hit by the OR player changing the play to what it was. Much like someone being blocked into a kicker and having a no call by the ref. however there was not a no call, it was a huge call that determined the outcome of the game. Anyway you guys did nothing in the first half and did as I previously stated come out in the second half and ran well behind that V kid, I do not have all the stats in memory but remember after the game being in shock and then hearing on the radio the stats and wondered how? Best I remember you had less than 200 total yards with your top rusher with about 60-something yards. Bradley had about 500 yards with about 250-275 passing and 200-225 rushing. Bradley almost had a 50-50 run/pass game. After watching you guys on the opening drive of the 2nd half and then watching Bradley completely get away from the running game early in the 3rd quarter, I turned to my wife and told her that if Bradley did not get back to the run they would lose, and my beautiful football wife agreed(man its good to have a wife that loves football as much as me) anyway for 3 drives in the second half you did control the game behind that V boy. Best i remember it was 3-4 yards every carry, took time off clock and stuck it in the end zone. Bradley should have won but props to your school for doing what it needed to in order to win. Had Bradley stuck to the run they definitly would have won. 500 compared to 200 total yards is dominating a team but on 2 drives and a short field on a 3rd drive Oak Ridge did take Bradley to the wood shed. As for this years Bradley team, they are better than last years I am not a follower of them so I don't know all of their players, but I think they only lost about 3 contributors from last years team and only 1 main playmaker I think, but none of their speed. Their line is much bigger than last year. They have about 3 kids with the size of the V boy that played for you last year and the big one that committed with UT is only a soph. 6-6 300 lbs. moose. Anyway you are correct you won regardless of how it looked a W is a W , i have my opinion of last years game and you have yours as I meant no disrespect that was how I seen it last year. 1 question how many teams win with a total yard deficit like last years? Unless there is a lot of turnovers which I can't exactly remember but don't think there was on Bradley's side.
  19. I was at the game and Bradley doubled Oak Ridge in yards first downs and every aspect of the game my friend. your coaches did a great job in the second half by moving the kid (that went to vandy started with a V,he was most impressive lineman i have seen in last 2 years wished UT would have gotten him), anyway he started pancaking people 10 yards downfield and your coach ran 98% of your plays behind him in the 2nd half to keep the ball out of Bradley's hands and took an amazing amount of time off the clock. My hat goes off to your coaching staff for their in game transition it was the best coached game I have seen in a while, however he did that because OR could not stop Bradley and for the record the call of pulling the player into the end zone? seriously? that was what won the game for you guys. I was there and was on your bleacher side rooting for you but Bradley dominated that game and I left scratching my head as to how you got out of there with a win and wondering exactly how Bradley and their coaches allowed you out of there with that win! I will give your team props they played hard an earned their win but Bradley did dominate, the most puzzling game maybe I have ever seen.
  20. The kid was speared in the back and stomach by 3-4 Bradley kids that were fighting with him on the ground for a ball he already had secured! He got up fighting still and should not have but I guess after fighting with 3-4 250-300 pounders on the ground his adrenaline probably kicked in. I don't think that is cause to call him classless. HE celebrated after hard nose running for touchdowns to help his team win the district championship by running back to his side lines jumping and throwing his arms in the air, WOW, maybe next time he should apologize and tip toe to the sidelines, is that how Bradley celebrates cause it did not look like that in the first half, watch the replay tommorrow and let me know how that point of view turns out. No reason to call a kid classless for losing his cool or enjoying one of the most memorable nights of his life, unless you have never lost your temper or never celebrated!
  21. Bradley has the speed? come on man did you watch the same game I did? Nevins was toying with Stoval by letting him get open then closing on him to try and bait the QB into an interception, Houston can fly I will give him that and golston #2 is decent, but come on man seriously. SIMPSON, NEVINS, LINDSEY (FASTEST GUY ON THE FIELD), PLASTER (#1 RB THAT DID NOT PLAY), Kimpson, Martin Mcminn DE was as fast as your RB or WR except HOUSTON. Mcminn Defensive line, linebackers and cornerbacks were faster than anyone Bradley had on the field except for #5,#2,#87/6, that is all the speed you got. It was 41-16 when your fans emptied the stadium and Mcminn started trying to kill the clock and play prevent D. As for the QB, the ball was hiked past him and he went back and fell on it then 3 or 4 bears went in with elbows, knees, and helmets into his stomach, and back AND HE CAME UP A LITTLE PISSED WHICH MOST PEOPLE WOULD HAVE. Now the kids from Bradley did not do anything wrong they were just playing hard and going for the ball but when he got the ball and went to the fetus position the play should have been dead, but again not exactly sure how much time between him securing the ball and him getting hit, but evidentally he felt like it was uncalled for and responded. Regardless it was a lapse in judgement which will happen and Mcminn should make it threw the 1st round next week if it is against Coffee Co. OK without their QB. Bradley has a good team with a very good running back but as I stated earlier in the week how defense would decide this game, when Bradley faces an offense that has speed they can not stop them. 3 teams they have faced had more team speed than Bradley and they lost all 3. Funny last week against Cleveland Bradley's defense looked fast but this week it looked slooooow and Mcminn was able to get to the corners at will. And last Houston had 120 yards on 2 plays in the 1st half and I think Bradley had about 175 total rushing for the game, I would have liked to see him get in space on some screens over the middle or something cause he is the best weapon Bradley has. ANYWAY good luck with Oak Ridge next week and revenge that loss from last year which you dominated and somehow lost.
  22. When you are throwing in camp the lanes are open to see. When you are in a game trying to throw over big tall linemen and you are short, it makes things more difficult, not to mention the pressure bearing down and you having to make decisions quicker than you would in camp. However, in the 3 games I have seen him play, there has been way to many drop balls. The kid is pretty good but with/without d-1 receivers it is hard to tell just how good he is. He will prove his worth in the next 4 years. GOOD LUCK
  23. Good job, he looked good in camp. Do you know if he is going as a pitcher or a hitter or both?
  24. Seen both teams plus about 15 other area teams play this year. Mcminn has way more playmakers than any other team around.Mcminn will also be without that fierce little running back Plaster I think. Tribe fan you stole my score from earlier post and BUC you are right on about the Tradition. Cleveland has also been Mcminn's biggest rival the last 20 years in basketball and football due to success. However over the decades and across the many sports including girls basketball in the 80's and 90's BRADLEY-MCMINN is the key rivalry in this district. Back in the 80,s football wise it was RHEA-WHOEVER 90's Cleveland 20's still Cleveland due to people still trying to make up for the beatings they took back in the 90's. In the last 20 years I would agree that Cleveland-Bradley would be the most heated rivalry but don't dis-respect the Bears-Cherokees rivalry. Bradley has 3 major threats on offense, Mcminn has 6. The key will be on defense. Good luck to both teams Friday and into the playoffs as they will be in my opinion in the toughest Quad in the state. INJURY FREE HOPEFULLY.
  25. Is Ringold in trouble too? Does anyone know?
