I am an 87 grad of UCHS but now live in Athens. I have not had an opportunity to see them this year but pretty familiar with program. I served on the UC School Board before leaving. Coach Marty Sisco came back as an assistant (paraprofessional) to help his son Shane with the team. Antwan Coby and Marquis Weddle probably two of the top guards in the state. They have been able to handle most all opponents this year. Only losses were to Calloway County, KY and I believe Parkview out of Little Rock. However, they are playing in a really tough 7 AA region (Haywood County, Bolivar, Fayette Ware) and if advance then looking at Memphis team in substate (Raleigh Egypt, Mitchell). Going to drop to A next year due to enrollment (391 students). We had up to 600 when I was at UCHS. Many in community felt that standards were being lowered by going to A classification but competition will be tough next year (West Carroll, Lake County, South Fulton). This will be good for football program because of down years the last couple of years. Basketball should eat this up with freshman program going undefeated this year and Middle School program playing championship ball. Bright future for UC programs! thumb
