  1. Fairview shouldn't have much trouble with NW. Summit dominated them on the lines. The only drive of any lenth NW had was aided by two 15 yard penalties. Summit fumbled once going in for a TD and had the ball first or second and goal on the five when the game ended. Get a good first half out of your key players and they can rest up the second half for game three.
  2. Thanks LC. The boys are obviously thrilled about the win. The on the field lessons they took as freshman and sophomores combined with the dedicated offseason weight lifting and conditioning has really showed in the past month. Plus being closer in age to the competition certainly doesn't hurt. Still no seniors of course. Summit beat Eagleville 13-0 two weeks ago in the first fall scrimmage and then didn't back down to Indy at our jamboree last week. Another factor that is helping is the increase in the overall student population with the the new freshman class allowed for the hiring of more coaches. The quality in the new hires is outstanding to go along with an already great staff. The new DC is top notch. We host Loretto next week and then have a week off before heading down your way. It will be fun to see how the team progresses this season.
  3. Steele is a beast. Was a little dinged up in the spring but should have a huge senior season.
  4. The QB is senior Chase Swayze. 6-1, 190. He is backed up by a junior transfer. They apparently will get some coaching help from a former Eagle QB who had a lot of success.
  5. I was laughing about the small town comment; not the team. I know how athletic they are. Saw it in person last year. That's why I pointed out that FV's skill players will be a good test for Indy's D. Moore and Franklin would start for any team in the county regardless of class. I will be interested in knowing how Fairview's lines hold up against a 6A school.
  6. I am 99% sure Indy is playing Summit at the jamboree. There are still a few wrinkles to be worked out with other teams before all is set in stone. And LOL on Fairview. It will be interesting tho b/c Fairview has some really talented skill players that will give Indy's back seven on D a good workout before taking on Blackman. It might also be a return favor as Indy and Fairview are playing each other in both JV and freshman games this year. An interesting aside, Indy is also playing Giles County's JV and freshman teams this year as well.
  7. Fairview at home on August 3rd starts at 6:00 Jamboree at Summit on August 10th- time TBD
  8. At the moment, Indy only has one junior and two sophomore linemen on the varsity roster. Summit has around 20 junior and sophomore linemen on their varsity roster. That is going to be the killer for Indy after next season as they will remain a 5A or 6A school.
  9. Thank you so much for posting this. Coach Keasler is great with the boys and is going to build a successful program at Summit. The future is bright for the Spartans.
  10. I know Brentwood plays at Independence on Thursday night (8-30) in week 2. I am guessing it is for TV purposes.
  11. Not perturbed in the least. You don't see me capitalizing letters out of mocking spite. Just know what I see regarding SH based on years watching talented teams struggle because of coaching and player issues. And I know well the dysfunctional systems (rec and middle school) that feeds them their players. Undisciplined kids make for undisciplined teams. But like I say I could be wrong and I am sure you will let me know as well. My early predictions are already listed in this thread. I will add that the teams that are clearly the top of the league are Giles, Marshall, Fairview, and Lewis. After that it is wide open.
  12. A first year program with freshmen and sophomores that did not have the benefit of a spring practice in 2011 or a weight room until the season started. We had the season everyone expected us to. I didn't know there were four new coaches at SH. That's good because the staff you had sure had trouble getting it together for an entire season. And btw, not saying you are wrong b/c I wasn't there, but Kenwood thinks they beat y'all according to a post I saw on the AAA board. I am not a Raider Hater; pulled for you guys in the basketball tourney and will do the same in baseball. Just saying in football you all probably have as much if not more talent than anyone in the district. If you had had a coach that could keep personalities and attitudes in check you would be third in the district. I just don't see that happening. But I have been wrong before and I am sure you will let me know next October if I am.
  13. 12AA's Predictions for the district 3. Spring Hill (They are ready to bounce back from two bad seasons) 8. Summitt Spring Hill lost their best players from a bad team last year. They have the same coaching staff in place. They have talent but are completely undisciplined. I've lived through a couple of seasons with some of the younger players who will be expected to produce next year. There is no way the same staff will all of the sudden change these players into a competitive/ cohesive unit. As evidence, the Raiders gave up 700 yards rushing to Kenwood the other night. For the record Summit is spelled with one T; not two. I also hope that all the players and coaches from the other schools in the district think the way their fans do about how the Spartans will perform next season. Because we all know, programs never get any better in year two of their existence and freshmen and sophomores don't ever get bigger, faster, and stronger.....
  14. My early prediction: 1)Giles Co. 2)Fairview 3)Marshall Co. 4)Lewis Co. 5)Summit 6)Page 7)Spring Hill 8)Hickman Co. 9)East Hickman
  15. Coach Kirby really did an amazing job with this young but talented team. They played like juniors and seniors even though they were just freshmen and sophomores. Their future is bright.
  16. I don't know about that. A large portion of what would have been their future talent just got knocked out of the 12AA semifinals.
  17. Summit traveled up 31 last night and played Independence for a sneak preview of what's to come between these southern Williamson County schools in a year and a half when Summit makes the jump to 11AAA. More than half the scrimmage was spent by each team working on red zone offenses and defenses. They also spent some moments on goal line situations and kicking field goals and extra points. But the first half was football. There was no scoring on the first few possessions by either team. But then Indy broke through with two long touchdown runs by #22/ Dom Childress. He will be a sophomore next year. Great wheels and acceleration on that kid. Summit moved the ball well at first but then had trouble once #53/ rising senior Jake Williams got going at NG. He was hurt much of last season but has gotten bigger and stronger (looks to be about 6'2/ 250) and was very disruptive. Another thing that hurt Summit's performance was the fact that our three best skill players: QB Dale Burdick, RB Dee Hunter, and WR Phillip Shearry were all involved in baseball and/ or were unavailable to play last night. But I think Indy was without Finis Stribing due to track. The hitting was hard on both sides and both teams tackled well. I was very encouraged by Summit's play against it's AAA big brother. The Spartans didn't back down despite the fact that Indy had a large number of rising seniors on it's roster compared to none for Summit. But most of the Summit sophomores went to Indy as freshmen so they were looking forward to this scrimmage and it showed. There was only one minor skirmish so that was encouraging. The coaches for both teams kept their players emotions in check. Coach Dyson and Coach Keasler appear to work well together so I expect many more practices between the teams. A few impressions on Indy players: Like I said, Williams and Childress were the stars of the night. Dyson may have a QB issue again next year. #6 Swayze looked good but there is a transfer from Franklin/ #18 who looked impressive at times. I don't know his name but I think he is a rising junior. The only receiver any Indy QB seemed to throw to was #5. Think he is a rising senior. He is a little small and could have trouble with big corners. He is also the one who got into a fight. Besides Williams who also plays LG on the o-line, there weren't too many standouts on the line. #64 rising senior Logan Rutledge is very good though. And there is no depth which is not surprising since the expected-young back up lineman for Indy are now starting for Summit. And the Indy back-up linemen are small so the Eagles cannot afford any injuries on the line next season. One more standout for Indy that I can't forget is #41 Josh Murray. It's not surprising since he is a standout athlete at multiple sports. But his presence on the field was noticed. And oh yeah, Landon Foster is officially gone. Maybe that's why Indy worked so much on red zone offense last night. Lastly I've seen a lot of football over the past six years from #27 and #1 for the Eagles. I hope they turn it on and have big senior seasons for Indy. But if Childress keeps it up I think Indy finally has a serious homerun threat in the backfield.
  18. Freshman Zach Mather was the WP for Summit.
  19. Indy will be interesting to watch. The Eagles have a lot of seniors next year with a good amount of talent returning. But they only had about six sophomores on the roster this past season so depth; especially on the lines, could be an issue. The freshman team was real bad so it is hard to tell if there will be any help from the rising sophomores.
  20. Summit swept East Hickman 19-8 and 16-6 last night.
  21. Summit got the split tonight beating Hickman Co. 11-5 after losing two nights ago by a score of 4-3. Very proud of these young but talented and hard working Spartans.
  22. 3/23: Summit 4- Lewis Co. 0 3/26: Lewis Co. 5- Summit 3
  23. Summit 6 Page 5 Summit scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs.
