It is such a tragic event....Its hard to fathom, especially if you have kids that play, how his family is feeling now. The young man that hit him is having a hard time also..My heart is heavy for all involved, especially his mom and dad.

I agree that I would pay whatever to see my son play...but when you have three kids, my wife and myself, and if the grandparents come (which they want to) it gets expensive! But I promise you, the T$$AA could really care less, its about getting them more.

I would love to see a team from West Tn win state...but it does show a little something when Arlingtons first loss was to a middle tn team who is, I think 6-5 (Oakland). I hope Whitehaven or Whitestation represents!!

Doesnt St Benedict have a back that is supposed to be pretty good? I think Arlington keyed on him and contained him pretty well and got the win. MUS keyed on Kimbrough and shut him down in that game. These are some good RBs. Every team Millington has played gets to watch a DVD of the previous game and knows who Roland Gennesy is and they key on him....every game. These teams know we dont pass the ball much if at all...we run the ball....and we are going to run Gennesy...its not a secret. And this kid has how many yards and how many touchdowns? He is keyed on every game and hasnt been shut down yet.

QB is good, especially on the run. This kid throws extremely well on the run and receivers know to come back to him when he is scrambling. Def line is a little undersized, but overall defense is fairly solid. This team can hurt you with the big play and will go for it several times during the game. Will run the ball when needed.

And that is the key to Millington winning. You cannot just key on Gennesy, who can hurt you alone. Webber, Lewis and Wilmer cannot be left out of the watch and I dont think they can key on them all. But WS is fast and will get to the ball. Dont they run the ball a lot?? Our D line and LB's wil need a good game up front. I wouldnt be suprised to see WS try to throw the ball a little more than they normally do.

White Station has lost 4 games to good teams. Beside the MUS game, I think they have only lost by an average of about 6 1/2 pts to Whitehaven, East, and Arlington. We have our work cut out for us!! Roll on Trojans! Keep it up O line and RB's!!

You missed the point on the SYS thing but that figures. Success has been achieved at the HS level...we won the district...

Hey...if the shoe fits???? "Daddy expectations" are one of the things that keeps the High School programs what they are...it is a big deal for the parents to have a son playing football and my wife and I have supported this program a lot over the past several years with our time and money. My son has played with these boys since SYS football and they won the conference( see article to come in Millington Star) back then. I know what these kids are capable of and they have proven it. You would understand if you had a kid playing......... The Trojans are ranked #5 in the Dandy Dozen and received enough votes in the TN AP poll to put them at #12. We all know what polls do for you on Friday nights although. WS will not be an easy win...they are a run team pretty much as we are with a good defense and a lot of speed. I hear #14 is a good player...any info on him??? Does WS run the wing t also?

Wow! If you missed last friday night you missed one of the most exciting High School football games I have seen and I have seen a few with three boys who have played. It was a great HS football atmosphere. Millington ended the regular season 9-1 and are district champs beating a team that was ranked #3 in Shelby county by the Commercial Appeal. A lot of naysayers are eating crow or should be...including the people who didnt think we had the talent to be where we are right now (#2 seed in Shelby County). We do have the talent, all we had to do was eliminate some fixable errors. Fumbles, better...pass coverage, better...kickoff coverage, better...playing with some heart and confidence, better! Now, the next task at hand...White Station. They are a dangerous team. We must keep up the intensity to beat these guys. (would love to have another shot at Brighton), but first things first. What are the thoughts on WS??????????????? Go Trojans! Keep up the roll!!!!

Well....Game day. No more practicing for this one. It is up to the players. If the Trojans hold on to the football, cover well on kicks, and contain Arlington QB (stopping the pass game) we win. I dont think they will be able to stop our run game enough to prevent a loss. We already know they are going to load the box, no suprise there, and key on 36. That is ok...we have an answer for that. Millington over Arlington: This should be the Classic High School rivalry game the we all love. Especially if you have a kid in the game. It dont get no better than this one. If Millington happens to hold their passing game (which they have improved on), I think it will be a long night for Arlington. It is hard enough to try to key on one RB much less two or three RB's which the Trojans have that are threats. Will definitely be an exciting game! The turnovers for Millington has gotten better...I dont know if a wet field will slow Arlingtons pass game down or create more of a turnover factor for Millington. I think Arlington has a couple of decent backs...does anyone have any info on them or their run game?? Millington must put a complete game together Friday night. Coach Michaels has even commented on the radio about the Trojans not having a complete game yet. That means eliminating turnovers, good kickoff coverage, strong defensive play by the secondary. I think if we do those things decently, our offense can bull our way to the endzone and pull out a good win! There will be a lot of media coverage as this game has been mentioned in the Comm App several times. This will be the classic "Barn Burner". Go Trojans!!!!!!

Was out last week. But here we are....This could be one of the biggest games of this Sr class' High School career. What will have to happen for the Trojans to pull out the win. What will the Defense have to do?? What will the Offense have to do? Besides the obvious, the team who wants it the most will win. We took a hard defeat last year fumbling at the 1 yrd line. This is Millingtons chance to avenge that loss!!! Go Trojans!!!

Well Trojan fans the cushy part of the season is over. We need 2 wins of the next 3 games (but want all 3)to win the district championship. Craigmont is a solid team but is a very winnable game for the Trojans. Being a home game helps big. What are the thoughts on this game. What does the Trojans have to do to win?

The negative talk you refer is merely constructive criticism which is not handled well by some. The issues that have been talked about are real and can be fixed if you have 11 average players or 11 D1 prospects. The problems the Trojans are having are not a talent issue. I do not believe we have a state championship caliber team but I do believe we have a team that can win the district championship and do well in the playoffs. I dont think there is anything wrong with high expectations for Millington. 6-1 is a good problem to have but honestly....who have we beat? Yes, the truth does hurt. (By the way...putting names on this website whether they are right or not doesnt intimidate me in the slightest...who's trying to stir the pot?) Go Trojans Beat Craigmont!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont think the 2008 and 2009 (I think those were the right years) when we were 13-1 and the next year we were 11-1 with only about 6 returning starters were overstated or overhyped. When you have as many returning players and Sr.s as we do this year, you better beleive I have high expectations. That is a lot of experience that came back. We have not played any really talented teams yet (Brighton being the best team and they embarassed us). That is realistic. Is it good to be 6-1??? It sure is! Is it something to really brag about? You tell me. I'm not new to football....High School or College. I've played and watched both. I know the difference between fixable errors and just not having any talent on the field. No pot stirring needed as this site doesnt affect the team play or coaching in any manner 7 pm Friday nights. And we still fumble too much and get too many penalties and I rarely see a player pumping up the sideline, sprinting to the line of scrimmage or from halftime, or celebrating with each other after a score. Correct me if Im wrong but these are not talent issues. I want the district title back at Millington!!!!!

Honeybadger, You first post with this handle...good for you. You may want to take a peek at the stat books and see if any of that post is misinformation. You are dead on that Im a booster which I doubt I have seen you at any booster meetings (are you a booster member?) and also am a father of a few players meaning I have supported this program for several years. Not just a 3 year and out parent cause my kid graduated (and there is nothing wrong with that). I have said in previous post I believe coach Michaels is a good coach. I have seen him watching tape on weekends by himself.I beleive it takes more than one coach. The talent is there! Im suprised you would suggest it is not. This team could win the district title back! A lot of Sr.s and players from last year returned. Im saying the mistakes they are making are correctible but they have been making them since the start of the season.
