LaVergne won the region last year while Springfield lost in the first game. LaVergne lost their best player and their coach, while Springfield returns almost all of their 10-man rotation. I have to give LaVergne the edge in this game, only because most of Springfield's team has still been playing football until this week. Springfield will be very good this year in the district and region.

Region 5 The winner of Cascade vs. Jo Byrns is first and loser is second. If Forrest wins, Forrest is third and McEwen is fourth. If Forrest loses and McEwen loses, White House-Heritage is third and Forrest is fourth. If Forrest loses and McEwen wins, you go to tiebreaker D-3. McEwen is third and White House-Heritage is fourth unless Columbia Academy wins, Richland wins, East Robertson wins, Perry County loses, and Hollow-Rock Bruceton loses, in which case Forrest is third and McEwen is fourth.

My early predictions ... Mt. Juliet, Springfield, & Clarksville are the best teams. Clarksville NE, Gallatin, LaVergne, & Dickson County should be good. Smyrna, Wilson Central, Beech, Hendersonville have potential. Henry County, Northwest, Kenwood, Rossview will have a tough time competing with the top 4 teams in a tough district.
