  1. No harm, no foul! It is hard sometimes to catch what post someone is responding to, especially when the thread starts crossing page breaks. For next year, the Bears lose a lot of offensive firepower; two of the big-play threats (Houston and Stovall) graduate, as does Goldston. A big senior class in general. Copeland will be back at QB for his senior year, and the freshman that took over the Cookeville game showed promise for the future. The numbers game looks good; there are lots of guys on the squad, lots of size, etc. It will depend on how much the younger players step up to take their place. I've been here 4 years, and I think Coach Floyd has the program moving in a good direction. Success tends to breed success, since hallway athletes are more inclined to join a good program than a bad one. Bradley should definitely be able to continue the recent trend and be in contention.
  2. Reading comprehension: it's your friend. McMinn had nothing to do with Bradley losing at Cookeville. McMinn didn't knock out our quarterback; that happened in the Cookeville game. The McMinn game was its own thing. The Cookeville game was entirely separate. The McMinn loss didn't knock the heart out of the Bears; they came into Cookeville fired up and performing well. The loss of the QB was a blow, but the bigger blow was the defense essentially taking a nap for two quarters. That phenomenon goes back much farther than the McMinn game; it has been a tendency all year.
  3. I wonder if Walker Valley will give Slaughter a look?
  4. I don't know. I thought the home crowd was pretty thin for a playoff game, too. The team showed up, though, so I guess that's what really matters.
  5. The chain officials were chuckling the first time we got down near the scoreboard endzone. The 5-yard line looked like Michael J. Fox had striped it.
  6. Non-throwing arm, but I understand he will require surgery. He's out for basketball season (point guard).
  7. It was an absolute swamp tonight. And they can't draw straight lines very well either.
  8. Wear your long cleats, OR. Cookeville's field is a mess.
  9. Congratulations to the Cavaliers. Gutsy comeback by the Bears, though. Defense returned to its frequent pattern by taking 2 quarters off. Gave up 21 points in the second, and let Cookeville chew up almost all of the third quarter (only 6 points, but Bradley only had the ball for 5-6 plays). Solid fourth quarter performance by a freshman quarterback almost put the heartbreak on the home sidelines. He had a rocky start, but really came through for us in that fourth quarter. Ironic, in a way. After all the running and all the hits he's seen this season, Bryce Copeland gets a broken arm on his first rush of tonight's game. Wish the best for his recovery.
  10. Thanks, Old Tiger. Those two were the worst looking ones of the night. Glad they are all right.
  11. Ah. It didn't seem to be a good sign that he couldn't put any weight on the leg at all as he went off.
  12. Thanks! I asked earlier, but I think it got lost in the shuffle. What's the word on the young man with the leg injury (went off not able to put any weight on it)?
  13. Represent the district well, Owls! Pulling for you to make some noise.
  14. Gladly pulling for McMinn THIS week. Hope to get to pull against you again a week later.
  15. Saw you pulling for the Cherokees, too. Local first, district second. I like the cut of your jib, as they say. Hope Ooltewah represents well, too.
  16. Can we get our heads back on straight? Have we learned any lessons (see: Oak Ridge 2010, McMinn last night) about showing up ready to play at this time of year? Big road trips in Quad 2. Except Blackman vs. Coffee. Oops, short term memory glitch. Make that Riverdale. Better bracket than I expected for us.
  17. Spot on for Quad 2! A much more favorable bracket for Bradley Central than I expected. A decent chance for a rematch with McMinn if both advance to 2nd round (Bears better perform better than this week if they want to advance anywhere, though).
  18. Any word on the Cherokee player who was helped off the field, and couldn't put any weight at all on his leg? I assume the one who got his bell rung late in the game will be all right (it's scary when the trainer shows up and the first thing she does is start holding his head still; but I understand he was just kinda knocked out).
  19. I guess I could be wrong. I was almost 10 feet away from him while they were manipulating his shoulder, after all. Did see the punter/kicker on crutches after the game, though. Not sure when he got hurt.
  20. Oh, you mean when the trainers had to pop his shoulder back into socket before helping him off the field? Yeah, he took himself out of the game all right.
  21. And I heard he kicked a player. Regardless, Bradley hardly came out like a team that wanted to win, or had anything to play for. No fire. Little execution. Careless with the ball. Pitiful tackling. Definitely NOT the way to build momentum for the playoffs. The kind of performance that explains why coaches favor those really short haircuts: so they can't hurt themselves pulling their hair out.
  22. Thanks. (Although as local rumors go, that could be a very ironic theme for this year.)
  23. Hey, if some of the Cleveland fans are watching this thread, I have a question. I noticed that Cleveland's helmets have the Hebrew letter "aleph" on the back. What is the significance of that?
