I have known coach Dugger for a long time. He is a fine man. Our Schools Director made the call. Coach Wilson had never coached the boy’s team and had done a fine job in the past with the girls. Coach Dugger had coached the Elizabethton Boys Team. The Director made the call. Hard to find a new coach once the season had started. You see what happened after the season, Coach Dugger went back to the girls and we searched for a new boys coach. Coach Wilson went back to the AD. It was the Director of Schools call and you can read about how things are run in this system by him. He does a great job and we have a great system and great kids. It is reflected in academics and sports. Our Football team has won the Three River Conference Championship and made it to the State Final Four, 3 out of the last 4 years, and had over 30 players with a 4.0. Girls soccer made it to state, golf team won regionals, both basketball teams made it to sectionals, Our Girl wrestler won State 3 years in a row, and we sent several boys to state, our swim team sent swimmers to state. Our Band has won the state championship 2 out of the last 3 years. Best ACT scores in years and better average then any school in the county. We have a great school system and none of these things just happen on their own. There are good people and good kids behind them. Your team was just outplayed, a bad call can cost a game sometimes but not many ref’s make a 15 point mistake. So congratulations on a great regular season, that is a very good accomplishment for any team and good luck in the sectionals, and the name calling on both sides should stop.

Wrong barb straight from coach Witten, it was Greeneville that did not want to play. As recent as this week. Greenville said No for next year. Looks like we may have to go to VA or NC to find games.

48-6Prider hit that one on the head. The freshman started and ran for over 131 yards and 2 TD's He looked unstoppable. I think they used 6 or 7 kids as running backs last night and all moved the ball well. Turner ran a couple of plays and looked fine. It was best to rest him. They should get a couple of home games before going to North. Everything fell into place for North last time but the Cyclones will be ready for this one.

That does not change until next year about the conf champ. Elizabethton won last year and was a 4 seed. They have to use the number system one more year. If Daniel Boone wins and EHS beats East, then EHS should hold onto second seed. West Green and AE should be 3 and 4. If GP wins nothing matters there will be 8 teams East of them.

I think The Mr. Football kicking award should go to the Girl from Elizabethton. She has broken the female record FG and has not missed but a couple of PAT's this year.

They have a very good team this year. They will have to beat Austin-East and Elizabethton again to get out of the quad. Elizabethton is rolling now and will not take North lightly. They will be ready and unless the players do something stupid again maybe they will have their whole team this time. West Greene and Pigeon Forge should not be taken to lightly.

Looking at the bigger picture, a Cyclone win would move them ahead of West Green in Q1 into second behind North. If GP does not win against Pigeon Forge they may not make it into the playoffs at 4-6. Then North and Elizabethton would be 1-2 and West Green would be 3rd and AE 4th in Q1. North would have to play AE second round if both win. Could see AE-Elizabethton re-match #3. Turners turf-toe was fine after it was wrapped last week at Johnson County. He could have returned but by then there was no need. He was in street clothes at the half. With the extra week off he should be 100%.

In Q1 West Greene will have played just 5 teams with records better then 50%. If you take away the 0 week loss of Tuscola, NC (they play 11 games)that will give Elizabethton playing 8 teams with better then 50% wins. That is, if they beat Sullivan East this week then they will move into 2nd place in Q1 behind North. West Greene is open this week and does not play. Gatlinburg-Pittman will need to beat Pigeon Forge this week or they will be 4-6 and I don't see them getting in. You may see Austin-East coming East to Q-1 again.

Prider, you can look at this year like this. We still have the same record as Alcoa and Austin East not bad company. I had rather us make those mistakes now and learn from them, then make them in the playoffs when it would end the season. I have faith things will turn around. We will win out the rest of the season and head into the playoffs 7-3 and that's better then last year. Go Cyclones!

Here is my vote. These are from his freshman and sophomore years he is just a Junior. Leading Elizabethton to 3-1. With the only loss to the second largest school in the state.

With all that is happening in the Knoxville area, things are looking bright for the Cyclones. From what I read about AE-Alcoa game Alcoa should have recruited the AE kicker not their QB. Serves them right. We need some help from some East TN Schools to get on the winning side and keep all those other K teams there from taking all the playoff spots. At least those other teams will have to come East this year. North has not been challenged this year and the Cyclones last night looked bad on their execution, 180 yards in penalties. However I don't think the refs liked us humiliating one of their long time champions. The North Game the Cyclones will be ready. They know this will be one of their biggest test this year. EHS has the numbers to keep fresh kids in the game and they will wear down North. To many weapons for the Cyclones and they have been taking the other teams key players out of the game early with some hard hits or just plain rendering them noneffective. This is one of the hardest hitting team I have seen and it's not just one or two kids they all like to hammer. Turner did not like NC to much they were hard to run on. Look for him to cut loose and do his thing went we get back home Friday. Welcome North this week it should be a good game.

Talked with their Trainer and the kid thought he was in the 9th grade. Concussion and back injury. Even if he was their best linebacker, you have the question the coach putting your only QB in on D.

One bright spot for Cyclone Football the EHS Freshman Team put a 3 quarter mercy rule beat-down against the Science Hill Freshman and blanked them 38-0 tonight. Things look bright for the Future Cyclones.

Coaching wins this one, Elizabethton knows what it has and know how to use them. They have depth at most positions. Big athletic linemen, fast hard running fullbacks, 6 good receivers, a much better QB and 2 play making running backs and a smart D. Elizabethton takes this one. Elizabethton 42 Science Hill 7
