  1. 4-6 is a little gloom and doom in my opinion. I think the absolute floor for next year's team is 5-5 but I think 6-4 or 7-3 is a pretty realistic goal. But East and Jefferson County are probably the only games I'll be %100 confident going into. Farragut is coming off a state championship, Bearden and Science Hill always have athletes and D-B is probably the most consistently good team in the conference even if they've been down for a few years. So every week in this new conference is going to be a battle, which is why I think Coach Sanders deserves a bit of patience the first year or 2.
  2. The Trojans have removed the interim tag from Alvin Sanders. Great choice in my opinion, he'll need a little patience but I think he'll be very successful when it's all said and done.
  3. I do think Sanders would be a good head coach, there might be some growing pains though as I don't think he's ever been a head coach before and leading the transition from one of the biggest 5A schools to one the the smallest in 6A could definitely get tricky.
  4. The name at the top of the list should be Morristown native and current head coach of Huntington high in WV, Billy Seals. He has a pretty good gig in WV and has been really successful so I don't know if he'd want to just pack up and move on sentimental value alone, but it definitely wouldn't hurt to try.
  5. Both running backs come in to this game on fire, I think both get their yards so what it will come down to is which defense can keep a handle on big plays and bend but not break and which passing game can come up with chunks of yardage to keep the running lanes open.
  6. Yes and if you read my first post after the game I said he probably should have been ejected. That doesn't mean he stomped on the kids head. Exaggerating what happened doesn't help anyone.
  7. So first it was a punch and now it's been elevated to a stomp on the face? Okay by tomorrow people will be saying he shot the kid.
  8. Based on 1 missed penalty? You didn't watch the game I watched. Halls scored 1 offensive touchdown and that was on a drive that started on the West 45. Again, Halls played a great game and should be proud, don't tarnish it by claiming the officials took it away from them.
  9. Ballard is gonna have to do something about that vanilla offense, it works really well against teams that are woefully outmatched but when you've got a team that has the athletes to go toe to toe with Greeneville they seem to have a hard time getting in the end zone.
  10. Well, takes a big man to anonymously go on the internet and call a 17 year old kid a "classless piece of crap". Yes it should have been a penalty and yes he probably should have been ejected, but you're judging a kids character because he got carried away in the heat of battle for a few seconds. The refs also missed plenty of late hits on Halls as well, including one where Harbin speared Daymion Blevins in the back after he was already down and the whistle had blown. To say the refs took this game from Halls is ridiculous, one missed call didn't cost Halls the game, they came and played a great game and lost to a better team, simple as that.
  11. If Halls loads up the box all night Foreback will feast on the quick seam routes and will probably be good for at least 1 or 2 deep bombs to Sims
  12. West will win this one because of 2 factors: they have the better defense and they have Daymion Blevins. Blevins has over a thousand yards rushing in the past 4 games alone and would probably be the best receiver in the conference if he played there. Halls keeps it close for 2 and a half quarters and then the West rushing attack wears them down and West pulls away. 35-21 Trojans.
  13. I think this will be a repeat of last year, Blevins has rushed for over 800 yards in the last 3 weeks and I don't see why he doesn't have another huge night friday. This will lead to the play action pass opening up and I think West should be able to put up a ton of points and I j just don't know if Heritage can put up more than 21 points on the West defense. I say 42-14 Trojans.
  14. WBIR is streaming the game on their website if anyone wanted to see it. Although it's all MoWest so far.
  15. 2 Good defenses and 2 offenses that raise some questions, should be close throughout. I think we see a game a lot like last year where West's athleticism gives them the edge.
  16. West wins this one pretty easily, the defense seemed to work out the kinks against Greeneville and this game should present an opportunity for West to work out it's offensive identity
  17. The difference in this game was a muffed punt. Both offenses couldn't get out of their own way in the redzone, and neither team wanted to take control of the game. West waited till their last offensive drive to start going to their best receiver and it was too late.
  18. This is ridiculous, if they want to vacate the game on a technicality fine but awarding West the win is just silly.
  19. This is where you and many others are getting it wrong, in garbage time West only scored 1 touchdown, it was 43-22 midway through the 3rd, not a close game but a lot more respectable than the final score. You take away the Amari Rodgers show that started the game and it is a close ballgame, which is why I think West wins this one, Greeneville doesn't have a player in the same stratosphere as Rodgers. On top of that Catholic's 2 and 3 receivers would be the number one guy just about anywhere else in east tennessee, and Greeneville doesn't match their size on the interior either. Catholic simply had better players at almost every position, and it very well could be the opposite friday night
  20. It seems the Catholic score gave the Greeneville crowd a nice confidence boost but they're gonna be disappointed if they think they'll run away with this one. West got off to as bad a start as you can against Catholic but were able to counter bunch a little bit and unless Greeneville has Amari Rodgers suiting up for them next week I feel pretty good about the Trojans Chances. I say the Trojans take it 31-24
  21. Catholic is as good as advertised, If they don't win the 4A title I'll be shocked. Rodgers took control early and it was all Catholic from there.
  22. I'll have more to say after West plays this afternoon, but Greeneville has only beaten West 4 times since 2001 and those 4 teams have 1 combined playoff win. If history is any indication West wins unless they are in a really down year.
  23. I'll probably only stay for the first half after the West game but I'm excited to see what Malone can do after a full year in the program. He's got a bright future.
  24. This is an interesting take. I don't know how many guys Catholic has playing both ways or how much they rotate but with it being a 4:30 kickoff and the first game of the season, tired legs are going to be a factor. West normally has a pretty healthy rotation on the defensive front so that could potentially have an impact in the 2nd half.
  25. I think we're gonna have quite the shootout Saturday night. The West front 7 all have big game experience but 3 new starters in the secondary against that passing attack could be scary, Its gonna be up to the West pass rush to get pressure on the Catholic QB which is a pretty tall task against that stacked oline . On the other side Foreback has looked great throwing the ball down field in the preseason and the West receivers have improved tremendously since last year, I also think people are gonna be really surprised how little drop off West has at runningback. Blevins isn't as physically imposing as Delaney but very few are, he's just as fast if not faster and will have a pretty stout line making space for him. I think we're gonna see a really entertaining game
