  1. Spot on deadaim, (as always) the play calling at the end of the first half sealed the deal. It said no confidence in the offense's ability. They could have opened it up (they were in the middle of the field) and at least got into field goal position. You can't win unless you score points. Their best offensive weapons barely touched the ball all night. Does the field get any help form the coaches in the press box? That use to be a strength. No depth is hurting also. The players going both ways got tired in the second half. Hats off the to Bowers to sticking to his plan, Corn left, Corn right.....whatever it takes to win. Any idea how much the jumbotron cost? Best wins money can buy...
  2. At Mappleworth. Check. Ricky vs. Marty. Check. Undefeated vs. 2 losses. Check. Week off to prepare. Check. Corn. Check, Check. Top 25 team vs. unranked. Check. Check. Check. If MBA can keep Corn in "check" it could be closer than most people think. Neither team has much depth. 28-21.

  4. Interesting article in the January 9,2012, edition of the Nashville City Paper. It stated the TSSAA investigation of MBA is on going.
  5. Interesting article in the Nashville City Paper dated January 9, 2012, may shed some light on your question.
  6. As we say in poker...read 'em and weep.....game over as predicted...even w/o corn.
  7. WHile it pains me to say it, E wins in a "corn"walk over Baylor....
  8. I am hearing you got "religion" before the game and were a "believer"?...If MBA's D had held that last drive of the first half, Uncle MO would have had to be dealt with. ...10 to 7 at half would have been huge. So one Baylor drive makes "the end never in doubt"? Friends can disagree, but I know deep down, you believed MBA could have won. Granted, it's all over, let's move on...what a long strange trip it has been....

    TSSAA

    Anyone hearing anything?
  10. I will be pulling for Baylor the rest of the way, although I believe MBA the better team on Friday night. Two keys to the loss were the LBs not being able to contain #11 at the end of the half which resulted in a TD. If MBA comes up with a D stop, they have Mo on their side to start the second half. The lack of offense in the second half was the second key. The offensive adjustments at half, if any, were ineffective. No way was MBA going to win if having the QB run the ball was integral to the offensive scheme. The QB sacks and his interception in Q4 after the D held sealed the deal the other way. I would have liked to see the other QB ,who can throw, brought into the game at some point. Oh well, you pay for what you get.
  11. I know the TSSAA likes the gate in the Playoffs, but these first round games really should be re-thought. Make "making the Playoffs" meaningful. If everyone makes it, why play the regular season? I know the answer, but you get the point. Oh well, maybe the TSSAA has that under consideration too. On to Baylor... having to travel to a well rested opponent who has beaten you once can not be a coach's dream. I will check the lay of the land later in the week to post an update.
  12. First MBA doesn't travel well. Chattanooga is not that far away, but one year I heard MBA forgot to bring footballs to warm up with. My point is it is just a lot tougher to play on the road. Second, this team is beat up. The sidelines are full of hobbled players. Anytime a 5th string running back is called on, it is a sign of weakness, not strength. Third, it looks like the coaches are playing for next year. Maybe that works, but I don't think you will know for a year. MBA teams always thinks they can win, but IF this team doesn't jump out early and the the home cooking kicks in, it will be a long ride back home. Got to spit the truth...Baylor...at will.
  13. Agree...the talent in the pipeline, particularly at BA and E is impressive. Hats of to the recruiting. Where do they keep finding these students?
  14. Not much interest in this first round game. MBA should easily handle this team from Memphis. IF they win, it looks like they would have to beat the best three teams in the league. Odds on that trifecta are pretty long. It does appear like they are getting ready for next year, but It will be interesting to see what events transpire after the season. More on that when it breaks.

  16. As described earlier, it wasn't close...35-0. JP2 tried to stay around for awhile, but no real O in the second half. MBA had a couple nice runs and the D bent, but never broke. Not sure what you call a 5 and 5 regular season when the wins are against teams who had losing records, but it is over and on to the playoffs. Looks like MBA plays at home against Briarcrest. Will check in with the Memphis connects and get a better read on them. They only lost 26 to 10 to MUS tonight, but I know MUS is down this year.
  17. Yes it is a little sad because some of these boys are friends and compete against each other in other sports. Surely they will see each other later in life too. I am not saying MBA's squads always upholds their part of the Gentleman, S and A, but Friday it was a little "chippy" in the line after the game. I would not turn anyone's number in to anyone, but parents and coaches set the example, hopefully players follow. Also the refs could have done a better job of establishing the tone for the game. Food for the TSSAA to chew on.
  18. I have to disagree with part of your statement - "McCallie is a great place to play, classy coaches and players, great fans, and top notch facilities." Classy players????....Oh come on...since when is it classy to go through the line after the game, refuse to shake hands and curse the winning players?
  19. The game should not even be close...the Big Red will roll at JP2. Granted, MBA's coaching staff is still trying to figure out all the pieces; they have the luxury of too much depth not to beat another "poor" opponent. Most HS can not go 4 deep in running backs and still win, The challenge is to beat one of the better teams in D2 this year. That is how you measure a season.. not how many weak sisters you beat. Also, the first playoff game looks like a cupcake. Two wins and the Big Red roll into nooga to face Baylor. The first Baylor game was close, so if MBA wants it bad enough and Baylor doesn't get up for the game, you could see MBA going deeper into the Playoffs than most thought after the E game...shades of two years ago. The key - MBA's passing attack will have to shine against the better teams to have a chance to win the prize. I'll be back with the game score latter in the week.
  20. As predicted, MBA's D bent, but did not break and the McCallie run offense did not have enough gas in the tank. You have to give a shout out to #17 Kevin Murphy at DE also who was effective in keeping several of the M options from getting outside and made some key tackles. The strangest observation goes to the zebras. I have seen a fair amount to HS football and not sure I have ever seen such a clueless bunch of refs....with all due respect. Net, net for the night if you watched the BA/E game you could clearly see the upper and lower of Division II.
  21. Got to go the other way....MBA 21 McCallie 14.... The "real" game is on TV. BA OVER E.
  22. Early read looks like a good run game (McCallie) vs a good run defense (MBA). McCallie had their way with JP2 and put big points on the board last week. That's not really a big deal. Who hasn't beat JP2? The week off should help the Big Red, but home field is an advantage, particularly if MBA doesn't score early. Look for MBA's inconsistent offense to grab hold this week, if the coaching staff shows some creativity and properly utilizes available talent. I'll wait until Thursday to post my score prediction....
  23. Beg to differ with your statement on having fun...MBA football players are not use to losing to all the private schools.....that is not fun! You should have seen the faces after the E game....you are out of touch....
