  1. Hearing that a really successful young coach interviewed and is interested. If he gets it, I think Cougar fans will be VERY pleased and could generate some buzz about the program. Was also told the decision will be made by early next week if not sooner.
  2. I was joking! I was just adding to some of the already ridiculous speculation on here, for my own amusement. I don't see Worsely, Froedden, or Massey taking this job because they are BASKETBALL guys and Goodpasture is a football school now. A good school... I'm not saying its a bad job. I just don't see an established coach taking the job. Just my thoughts...
  3. That's weird because I saw Coach Worsely at the grocery store a few days ago. He told me that he loved it at West Creek but Goodpasture just offered him so much money he could hardly justify turning it down. He did mention a possible transfer "package deal" as well...Karl "the white mamba" Olson. Maybe a name 9AA isnt familiar with but will be soon! Can't wait to see what happens!
  4. Yeah, I dont see anyone beating Liberty "easily". Those kids have too much pride and play too hard. And they dont recruit their kids! They coach em up!
  5. CPA has 3 gold balls? What years?
  6. Matt Smith for Liberty is no rooty-poo either at 6'5! He had 20pts 15 rebs and 5 blocks in the region finals and 23 pts 12 rebs 4 blocks in the substate game. Should be a nice battle in the paint!
  7. Right, one of the other dads coaches track or something. They may not be on the basketball staff but they'll find a way to get them in. CPA fans are like Tebow fans, anyone who has anything negative to say about them is just a hater. Clearly, no one at CPA could be doing anything wrong. Of course these kids play AAU, that wasn't the point. The point is CPA uses their Select team and the Tigers to recruit players and then funnel them to their program. So CPA's team IS an AAU team for all intents and purposes, where public school teams like Spring Hill, Liberty, Lake Co, etc just play the hand they are dealt. If you think that is a fair, level playing field then YOU need to get a grip on reality.
  8. BOOOOOOOOOOOOO! How can anyone root for CPA? They're an AAU team playing in TSSAA. Let Coach Jones at Liberty or Coach Rudisill at Bolivar go choose their players and hire 10 asst coaches to their staff(who's sons just happen to be really good players also) Then, let's see how many gold balls they get. Good Luck to Lake Co., Liberty, Memphis East and anyone playing CPA...
  9. I totally agree. Apparently "closely guarded" means within ten feet with an arm extended toward the offensive player. I have never seen anything like it. Also, I have no idea what a legal screen looks like anymore...I have seen more illegal screen calls this year than in my 20+ years of watching hoops combined.
  10. I dont have a horse in the race...I am a JCM fan! I am glad Bolivar won. I thought they were the best team in the district. But if you don't think Bolivar reaches and grabs and bumps too then you werent watching the same game I was. Both teams play tough, aggressive defense, which is a big reason they both win and yes, Liberty fouls ALOT! But to play in a championship game with the intensity level through the roof and they only fouled 3 or 4 times? The whole half? 16 minutes of fast paced, intense, aggressive championship basketball and they only fouled 3 or 4 times?! Really? C'mon now... if you really think that is what happened then you are too big of a HOMER to reason with.
  11. I think those "playoff fouls" came out of frustration due to the fact that the second half foul count was about 12 for Liberty to 3 for Bolivar. Some of the previous posts were saying they hoped the refs didnt decide the game. I dont know if they decided it, cause Bolivar's kids made some great plays but the refs certainly had an impact on the game. You hate to see that in a championship game.
  12. I disagree that these teams would agree to play again just to decide the regular season DISTRICT champion. Both of these teams are concerned about one thing and one thing only... a STATE championship! I agree that a coin toss is a bit ridiculous, there should be a tie breaker in place that is based on the team's performance and not blind luck. (Margin of victory, total points for or against for district games, something)Obviously, it will be unfortunate for the loser of the coin toss to have to face a good Southside team in the second round, as I feel they are, arguably, the most talented team in the district man for man. Its young talent but they are as big, fast and athletic as anyone I have seen in AA. I just think Liberty and Bolivar have the mental edge over them. However it turns out, I am looking forward to watching! Good luck to all the 14AA teams. Its almost tournament time!
  13. Hubbs is a good player! I am not trying to slight him. I have seen him play probably 20 times. He will absolutely play at the next level and excel. Poythress is an elite, one and done type player. He is a pro! There is a huge difference in the talent level there. Hubbs is a nice player but Poythress is a freak! Thats all I am saying.
  14. Poythress is the best player in the state! Period, end of discussion! Clarksville has good basketball! And if you dont believe that, believe this: Poythress was one of the top 3 players at the LeBron James Skills Camp last summer, which is a collection of the best players from around the COUNTRY! Not to mention that he dominated the EYBL this summer too. Hubbs is a nice kid but he isnt close to Poythress's level.
  15. AJ Dodd from JCM is a great young man! He is currently averaging 23.5 points 4 rebs 2 assts per game. AJ can absolutely fill it up! I just saw an interview with him on the news this week and was really impressed with him. He is well spoken, humble and always gives his teammates the credit for his success.
