  1. Actually its Science Hill (11-2) Dobyns-Bennett (10-3) Sullivan Central (8-5) Volunteer (8-5) Tennessee High (8-6) Sullivan East (5-9) Sullivan South (4-10) David Crockett (3-10) Danitel Boone (3-10)
  2. Miller Oglesby Wattad Then Wiggins. (head to head Wattad dominated Wiggins while guarding him, head to head wiggins team beat oglesby's team but they didn't guard each other.) My vote is Miller or Oglesby with Wattad edging out wiggins as the third nominee.

  4. I don't know how accurate this statement is, but I wouldn't put that past a player from Central... if you recall there was an uproar where a player allegedly called a kid from Red Bank the "N" word during the Double Tree Roundball at the Palace... fyi...just because the tape doesn't show it, doesn't mean it didn't happen prior to the video... IF someone did call Wattad a {EXPLITIVE} he should be glad that Omar chose to walk away instead of confront him. Besides the Central video "CLIP" what evidence do you have of Wattad being "classless?" Him hyping up his own crowd, or him giving credit to his teammates and Coach almost everytime he's quoted in the papers. Or maybe him telling the papers that his opponent (Wiggins) whom he destroyed, was a "high major player and a high major person," Sure sounds like the cocky self-serving guy I see described on a littany of posts on this board... Honestly its high time East TN supports ALL of its successful players.. I mean why does everyone want to tear Omar down? It must be everyone is sick of him being a better player than them.
  5. No... they've got a lot of work to do to survive regions. Figure out how to get the ball to Twaine down low. He can dominate there at the high school level. But, as we saw against SHHS, he needs to get 1. Quicker- he couldn't keep up with Omar at all on defense, and his "first step" was negated by a quicker defender. 2. Stronger- he was outmuscled by Wattad every time he got the ball, it seemed like he was getting the ball more and more away from the goal as the game progressed. 3. Stamina- he tires out easily. I know your gonna say 'He plays the whole game", but he is noticeably winded at the end of games, and that hasn't changed since the AAU season. He was a little under conditioned then, and still has improvement to make in that regards. Also, to make it in regionals they need someone BESIDES Twaine to step up. Gash was negated by Bigger Guards, Ottinger was negated by stronger guards. Other posts lacked size, they have a ways to go., not much depth either.
  6. Yeah this is true. Thorton transferred clearing up a spot for Chris Wright, and Eggerson transferred Clearing up a scholly for Wattad. He was WILLING to walk on IF a scholly wasn't available. I've spoken to the Wattad family, as well as Coach Sydney Johnson at Georgetown and Wattad WILL have a scholarship. Barb is right on this one.
  7. round 3 goes decisively SHHS and Wattad. Wiggins and Greeneville won rnd 1 and 2 last year, but not as dominanting as SHHS was in last nights game.
  8. On 3 point shots?? please don't be rediculous, that game was dominated by the hill. Come up with better excuses, I;d even rather hear "WE were sick and tired from playing 3 games that week." Even coach Duncan said they simply got outplayed. NOT that SHHS is necessarily better, but they were clearly better ON THAT NIGHT.
  9. Your entitled to your opinion. Even though you are innaccurate in your description of the game. Also you neglect to mention G-ville shooting woes. Antwaine 0-6 on threes, and I don't think the refs did that. A lot happend besides uncalled fouls. Your description of this game is not accurate. Some truth, but A lot went uncalled both ways.
  10. I was at the game and it seemed that SHHS simply outplayed Greeneville. Off-night or what, I don't know. Wiggins didn't play his best game, a large part of that was Omar's defense, a large part was his shot wasn't falling, and a small part was the refs. But the game was physical on both ends. I don't think anyone could say it was the refs fault when Omar was driving on Wiggins consistantly in the second half. I dont' see anyone blaming the refs for Greeneville's horrid shooting last night. A lot more than just the refs lost that game for Greeneville. I know they are a good team and will bounce back, but they do have to give credit to the Topper's for playing a heck of a game on defense. Turnovers by the toppers 14, turnovers by the devils 24. Toppers shot over 50% from the field, Devils shot under 40%. A lot more happened than just bad officiating, give credit where credit is due. Game fouls Greeneville 12 Toppers 9 physical game all around
  11. I know barb. It just a lot of people comment without really knowing him. I hate to see that about anyone. If it were happening to Antwaine I would be the first to stick out my neck for him. I just hope that the game on Saturday is going to be a good one, and I hope that TRUE b-ball fans will appreciate good basketball when they see it.
  12. I'd bet any one of you if you asked coach Duncan about Omar as a person he would have nothing but praise for him. I spoke extensively with Coach Duncan at a Travelers AAU practice this summer, where (by the way he was showing support to his star Antwaine), he said "I love Omar. He is a smart kid, and a smart player. " He further said "As good as he is, he keeps a good head on his shoulders..." He want on to praise Omar as a player and a person, and also said he was glad Antwaine befriended such a good guy. He stated definitively that he loved Omar, he loved to watch him play, but he HATES to coach against him. Barb I usually agree with you, but your "question" was a slight cheap shot. Anyone who knows Omar, knows the Central game was an abhoration. Ask Antwaine, ask Coach D The only people that should hold a grudge against Omar is the Central Basketball team. Use it as fuel to try to beat SHHS again in the tournament, don't just trash this kid. IF you want him to be classless you must show class yourselves. BESIDES its not like he came into the student section and called anyone a [iNSERT EXPLETIVE.]
  13. I think it was taken out of context. HE prefaced his statement with he had been hurt and had not been hitting, he further stated "WHEN I start hitting, I don't feel there's anyone that can stop me..." he alludes to the fact that HE has to start hitting, and it matters not what else is going on. Ultimately he puts the blame/credit on himself, he is not going to let anyones defense stop him. IF you don't have the attitude that "I am the only one stopping me" you can't excel in this sport. I think some might attribute it as being cocky, and some will call this confidence. REGARDLESS, wouldn't you want your best player thinking that no one could stop him when he was hot? HE's not saying "No one can ever stop me" he is saying "NO one can stop me" when "I AM PLAYING up to the standard I set for myself."
  14. No... Topper Palace... there is a PBR rodeo event at the Hall
  15. It'd be great if they play at least one more time... in region... and maybe again in state (wishful thinking)
  16. Wayne is a good power forward. He doesn't have the size or skill set to keep up with premier centers. But TN obviously needs more than just Wayne and Duke (who should play the 3 in reality). Losing Wingate hurt the depth at post. Next year he doesn't have many bigs coming in, so it will be big for him to get a post in 2008
  17. I have to defend Charlie, cant say the same for Chuck Jr. Pearl is no less slimey than any AAU coach I know. I've heard some bad stories about him back in his Uw-milwak days. but he's doing a great job at Tn coaching. Needs to land a big post player... missed out on JJ hickson missed out on Anthony McClain... needs to get a true post in that system
  18. Yeah I read the piece, i liked the nickname "Wig Worm," Wattad and Sharpe (halls) kind of named him that over the summer and I'm glad he said it in the interview, those guys are a lot closer than most people know, funny kids.
  19. Agreed... Advantage Greeneville, SHHS will have to play their best game of the year to beat these guys. Antwaine is a huge factor for the Devils, and he has really taken his game to another level since this summer. I believe his injury may have slowed his recruitment a little bit, but he is producing big time, and a lot of high major schools are showing more interest now. Especially after his Arby's performance. I believe waiting, for him, was a wise decision. For Wattad I see why he committed in the fall. He probably wasn't going to get much better offers than Georgetown, where as Antwaine definetly could improve because his stock had dropped because of the injury. I would just like to see them guard each other because that is ideal for both of them. Not knocking any of the other guys, but those two will have to guard other players of their caliber at the next level so why not let them prepare for it now? It should be a great game and I am excited to see these two terriffic young men compete and represent their respective schools.
  20. Sounds novel... but I don't need to actualize or disprove anybody's suspitions, I know who I am and what I stand for. I am merely coming to support one of my guys. I hope that the story of his conduct is exaggerated, because the Omar I know is a good kid, extremely unselfish, but a strong willed competitor who probably hates losing more than he loves winning. I would also love to see Antwaine do well because, although I never got to coach him, I did spend time with him this summer as the boys traveled together playing for coach benson and the TN trav's. Also I must give credit to Coach Benson, he really worked hard to get these guys the exposure they deserve, (many others deserve it too but either don't play AAU, or don't have the opportunity to play AAU), and I'm glad to see guys from east TN succeeding at this game that I love.
  21. sir, 2:50 eastern is 11:50 west coast time. Don't live in TN anymore, only get to hear about games from former players. Bob Segar, I loved your hit "like a rock" Keep being so informative an articulate.... young man, by the way, your posts on this board are public record, and are actionable. your perrogative.
  22. so you mean to tell me Omar scored 27 on Wiggins Twice last year.... don't think so.... actually i have the game(s) on tape and they only matched up on switches in the second half... and once before half time... but true on the point that shhs wouldn't let omar guard antwaine.... I would love to see them go at it against each other though. It would remind me of their AAU practices this summer... that would be a continuous score fest (both guys can score on the other is my point, omar uses his quicks, wiggins uses his size)
