  1. Anyone who doesn't believe Wattad is the best player in this conference, let alone the shhs team. is misinformed. Ask anyone on that team how many open looks they get when wattad is on the floor. Everyone plays better because of him. Buchannan? Everytime he is guarded by Wattad he passes the ball. Wattad is unselfish to a fault. he's averaging 20 a game while shooting under 15 shots a game. btw inside of 15 feet he is shooting 86% this season. Thats better than most guys shoot free throws.
  2. If its one of those nasty defensive games in the thirties he could score more than the whole team but that is highly unlikely.
  3. Deshaud has to develop a mid ranged jumper, he can break anyone down on ball, its just he's so small that when he gets too far into the lane he cant finish, and the angles of the passing lanes close with good help side defense. I saw the game tuessday and deshaud played great but he did turn the ball over on back-2-back possesions in overtime, trying to drive to far and getting the ball stolen, once by wattad and once by turner. IF he'd pull up and pop he'd be sick. He's got great skills but must improve on his decision making.
  4. State brackets are based on a drawing with no two teams from the same region being allowed to compete on the same side of the bracket (this is like ley to affect the Region with Shelbyville, Siegel and Oakland) and sometimes affects the region with Bearden and Oak Ridge, halls, and so on... If either Greenville or SHHS wins then they could be seeded against a team from east tn depending on the drawing. Usually that wont happen. State Predictions Bearden SHHS (Greenville is the only good team in the IMAC) Shelbyville Siegel Raleigh Egypt Hamilton and two teams from the other regions, I'll og out on a limb and say Hendersonville and Franklin. I just don't see Cleveland, Bradley Central, Or Red Bank able to beat those teams from the middle region (shelbyville, siegel, etc)..
  5. If White goes to prep school and comes in the class of 2007 Pearl will have one heck of a guard loaded class, with guys like White, Oglesby, Wattad, and Maurice Miller all considering UT they could be sick, especially with the 06 additions of Crews and Chism in the post.
  6. Bearden would beat them Oak Ridge, I don't think so. Especially if they get the substate at home. Barring any choke jobs (which happen often in High School B0ball) Shhs will play oak ridge at home, and Bearden will play either greenville/sullivan central at home Both home teams will win
  7. Culpepper scores the most and he shoots the most. There is a high correlation in that (you have to shoot to score). Oglesby, Wattad, and Robinson and Allen average the next highest all btwn 18-20 a game. All leading their teams.
  8. What is the scouting report on Greeneville? I have yet to see them this year.
  9. The toppers must stay focused and cant have their typical post season let downs that they've had the last 3 years. Regional tournament is the big deal. They have to win that to get the sub state game at home. Any of the knoxville team whether it be Halls, Oak Ridge, Bearden or whomever will be really tough on the road. If they stay unselfish they've got a good shot. Wattad is phenomenal he scored 25 on 9-12 shooting at volunteer. If you give him 20 shots a game the kid would average nearly 40 a game
  10. If the SHHS post players play like they have lately no one can beat them in the region. They've won 12 of their last 13 with continual double digit games from Crowder and Lauderback, not to mention the 15 from Forney and the 19+ from Wattad every night. THose 4 guys are putting out something like 50-55 points a game by themselves. Not to mention, if they continue to produce, that is a front line of 3 guys btwn 6'5-6'7 one of which is a shooting guard naturally. As sloppy as Turner seems at times, he still has the highest AST/Trnver ratio in the region, and statistically is top 5 in the state for pg. The question for the hill is can they maintain this level of play throughout the post season, something that they have not been able to do in recent years. They usually peak too soon, this year it is still tough to call, but if they produce like they are capable of, and have been, no one in the region matches up.
  11. Science hill lost in the summer scrimmage to Oak Ridge by a missed tip on an offensive rebound of a missed free throw in their third game of the day, without football players (one of which is the 2nd leading scorer on SHHS). That is not exactly being "handled". They also lost to Sullivan South early in the season. But they beat 3 quality teams in the arby's classic and have bounced back solidly. winning 11 of their last 12 games, with increased post production. They have to be in the top 2 in east tn. Behind Bearden
  12. Tony White is going to go to prep school and reclassify as class of 2007 so if you put him there he is in the top 4-5 players in the state with Miller, Wattad, Culpepper, and Oglesby. he is the best point guard in the TN class of 2007 assuming he does go to prep school.
  13. Randy is great but I look at Point productivity (as in points per shot attempt) That brings some of his 40 point games into better perspective, (he shot something like 28% in two of his 40+ efforts, and his team is 1-9) but even so he is still one of the top scorers in the state. Look on ESPN.com and you'll see this formula for best all around players in college and its something like ppg+Apg+RPG+SPG or BPG+ wins against top 25 teams/ shot attempts. Confusing but puts emphasis on more than just scoring to see who is the best player overall,
  14. Twilley, Miller, Kemp, Wattad, these guys all have amazing handles. No one can hold these guys without help side rotation. both Directions, with either hand. These guys flat out get it done. They don;t see many man-2-man defenses, that is suicide.
  15. the Hill one tonight by the count of 50 to 36. Wattad was the only player for the Hill in double figures although it was a team effort. He had 23 points 11 rebs 5 assts on 8 of 15 shooting from the field and 7 of 9 from the line. Shaud Johnson had 16 pts. on 5 of 15 shooting. Goose Harmon was not a factor. He went 1 of 6 from the field with just 5 points. Way to go Toppers!
  16. The "Hill" beat Boone like a red headed step child. 71-46 Wattad had 21, 7, and 5, Forney had 19, 10, and 3. Depew Had 16 all in the first half notta in the second. I'd be worried if Science Hill can shoot above 30% as they have struggled to do of late they will be really though. btw they had lost 3 in a row, and 4 total. All losses except South were against good O.O.C. opponents. (Tarpon Fl, Murfreesboro Siegel, and Clevland Bradley Central.)
  17. Omar is a shooting guard. SO goose probably will only be guarding him on switches, or on assignment. You may have seen Omar play 4 this season that is because the Hill lacks a true post player and Omar has played it before (he played post in middle school). he also played some one while Landon Turner has been recovering from injury. I expect he will be back at his natural position, the 2 0r 3 to face off against TN high. I doubt that there is anything Goose could do as an individual to stop Wattad, but that by no means means that the hill will beat the vikings. This should be a very close and hard fought game. The hill will be scary if/when they start making shots, (33% in the last 3 games).
  18. Hey whoever said omar was not going to let the hilltoppers lose is crazy. Thats impossible to do something like that. But bballfan, I would appreciate it if you read what THECULL posted on the Science Hill vs. South thread. Just read it. And I dont know who he is. He seems like just an average Big 9 fan. But read it please. Stop hating on Wattad. Just because your beloved Buchanon, Weatherford, and Hess are going to be stuck in some D-2 school or NAIA (Hess)...while Wattad is playing D-1 ball.
  19. Oden finished with 19 not 27. Roaper? had 25 he was lights out. No answer for Jones on the inside, Science Hill has no depth. They are truly two men deep, and sometimes not even that deep. i'd venture to say that the only guy on Siegel better that Wattad individually was the guy not playing, Ramsey. Oden is really close, great jump shooter, and ball handler but his defense wasn't hot. Roaper will be good if he doesn't stay so one dimentional. But the thing is when you have a different guy for each role (Oden handles, Roaper Shoots Jones and Ramsey score inside,) that it is ok if they are a little bit one dimensional individually, collectively they are a force. But to say wattad couldn't hold his own, give him a Roaper, or and Oden or a 6'9" Jones and see how he does. Judging an individual based on team performance is really hard to do. Just ask Randy Culpepper.
  20. There are two games Friday night with Central playing Twin Valley at 6:30 and Science Hill battling Charlotte at 8. On Saturday there are three games, Central plays Charlotte at 4, Science Hill plays Siegel at 5:30 and Twin Valley goes up against Cleveland at 7.
  21. I think it is at 6pm because people thought that the Vols (/HaH)) might be in the SEC championship. They may push it back to 8 though, not really sure.
  22. Unlike you, the other players on Science Hill recognize the impact of a talent like Omar. You forget how many open looks Ryans, Turner, and Forney all see because teams collapse on Wattad when he puts the ball on the floor. Reverse the rolls, and teams don't collapse off of Omar because they don't want to give him time to shoot. The "other guys" on Science Hill know that it is there job to knock down shots when they get the looks, but not one of them would say they wan't to play without Omar, because they benefit from his presence on the court. Also, nobody is disrespecting Gabe, the kid played great. But he needs to do more to create for other players, every look Weatherford had was contested, and Hess could not score at will like you say. Hess had a bad night for a player that I've come to expect much more consistant play from. Looking back at film, I see he scored 10 of his 14 with Wattad on the bench. If you are refering to the drive at the end of the game where Wattad fouled out, Hess did a good job of getting Omar to leave his feet and draw contact. But keep in mind he missed the free throw to tie, and the team did not score the rest of the game. The Hill did a good job of closing out on shooters, and making free throws down the stretch.
  23. I watched the game last night and from what I see Buchanan is definetly centrals best player. He didn't really take it to Wattad, because he wasn't being guarded that often by Wattad. As I recall SHHS played a match up zone in the second half because of foul trouble and Wattad only played man against Hess, who struggled to get his shot off while Wattad was in the game. Weatherford was good at shooting, when he was open, but struggled to score with pressure on him. If central wants to contend they need to make sure the ball stays in Buchanans hands, as he was the only one I could see score on both the man and the zone.
  24. That rumor is false to my knowledge Omar is a topper and plans to graduate a topper as far as I know
  25. He is 6'5" shooting guard and I don't think he is either black or white. His parents are middle eastern so that is what I think he is too.
