  1. The first paragragh of your statement is not right, actually the DII teams need to be required to wrestle each other more often, and less DI teams. If they wrestled 8 DII teams I would be happy now.The Ryan coach cannot schedule phoney matches with MBA without the MBA coach approval. If you don't know what you are talking about, why do you make yourself look like a fool. The results at the State tournament are not unknown.
  2. Dear Mr. Balls, Okay, okay so "haunted for life" was an over the top usage of words for me to have used on a public forum, you are correct. And I can tell that it really bothers you, therefore I wanted to set the record straight cause I could just feel you were just moments away from calling human services on me. Matt's gonna be all right though; we do still have him hog tied to his bed since arriving home from Chattanooga for placing third. He has recieved rice and water though. We figure a week, maybe two, til we untie him. We just continually run his seeding brackets on vidoe tape over and over in front of him with loud music blaring. You don't think we're being too harsh do you?
  3. It's also blind to your performance on the mat during the season. One of my suggestions is to require DII to wrestle a minimum of at least 8 other DII teams before the duals, and every team in DII over a three year period.
  4. Who ever took off my Broken Hearted Mother thread "thank you". I was done with it! thumb Kate M.
  5. Oh my gosh.....that's the pot calling the kettle black!
  6. Hey SBA, I have been around this great sport longer than than I would like to admit, stood on the podium a couple times when there was only one state champion, and I appreciate all the hard work coaches and supporters do for TN wrestling. As adults we make decisions, and when they effect our youth, the decisions should be based on whats fair / best for them, not whats best for a coach or program, thats my point. The wrestlers work hard for years to achieve their goals, and win or lose, they should have a fair, equal, and clear path in the D2 state tournament. It will never be perfect, there is plenty of room for improvement, and all the D2 coaches can may it happen if they want.
  7. I spoke with RC last week about the inequity of the current seeding criteria used by D2, he assured me that this is what the majority of the D2 coaches wanted, and if the consensus wanted to change it they could. Regarding wrestling 4 times a year, we wrestled a whopping 3 D2 teams all year prior to duals, there should be a minimum match, rotating format set up so that you have some comparison results within D2 for seeding criteria, and be required to have wrestled every D2 team at least once every 3 years. Sorta like the SEC football rotation. These kids put way too much blood, sweat and tears into wrestling, only to have to deal with petty politics at the tournaments.

  10. That sounds good to yourself, but it's BS! They get paid, and if they want to change the rules, contact Ronnie Carter. I've been there , done that, don't go there!
  11. It's not just the DI coaches, all DI schools recruit in sports, just in a different way than DII, and not all private schools have the money to recruit as they are accussed. but all the wrestling coaches need to get there ego's in line, and change the rules, especially the DII coaches. Specifically, qualifying & changing weights for the state individuals at the last second, quality wins versus private and public opponents having little bearing on your state seed.or your in state season record, and the DII teams dodging other DII teams EVERY year. If you can't handle the competition, either get better, or get out of it!
  12. All State tournaments need the the wrestle back especially with second and third place finishers. DII has great wrestlers, but few teams, so with an OPEN state tournament, the seeding is extremely important. In DI, if you lose in the regional, you still have a chance to win it all at the state. Not in DII, its do or die. The DI regional allows you to pre-seed the State tournament, which is needed in DII because of how silly the seeds are selected. The DII coaches need to act like men and change the rules.
  13. Most of the time, but they still award metals thru 6th place so that they can seed you next year.
  14. According to the TSSAA, its up to the DII coaches to make the reccomendations. They just enforce the rules. Just remember its not what you do this year, its what you did last year. I wish the corporate world worked that way.
