  1. Last year when Clarkrange played Upperman what was different for the team. If I remember correctly both big girls were on the bench for most of the game with foul trouble. It's hard to make mistakes if you are not in the game. The guards shot outside because they had too. They were not consistently told to "pass the ball inside". If I am not mistaken one of the guards had 6-3 pointers. She was never allowed to shoot that way before or since. At least I have not seen it. It's hard to beat a good team when the "best" player walks 5 times and the coach ok's it. You never get taken out of the game. That's what happened last year at Watertown against Jackson County. This year the coach has his head on straight and there are no other distractions. He is doing a much better job of making decisions based on the contributions of the players. The players are playing well together and as long as there is no friction and jealousy they will be fine. This year there is no jockying for scholarships. Last year Clarkrange had too many distractions from outside basketball and from inside basketball or they could have beat anybody. They did beat Upperman and some other very good teams including Jackson County and RBS. I welcome other inputs as constructive criticism.
  2. Chelsea at home? Imagine!!!!! Destiny also with some experience on Crange floor. Should be an interesting game to watch. Coaches strategy will be interesting. The game will be depending on the outside shooting and rebounding.
  3. Congrats to RBS. I can see 7A shaping up just like last year. The district will come down to the players with the most poise at crunch time. The team that plays together stays together. What happens during the regular season does not really mean much, other than confidence. The coach is important but the true stabliity and poise of the players is what's most important. As a coach was quoted last year "regular season games are only one battle in the war"
  4. I am referring to the "It's all about me syndrome". Some parents are not team players but are only interested in their own kids and how they can become the "All American". I have seen it happen in the past and I bet it happens in the future. As long as a team plays as a team then they can win. Some kids are coached to 1) hold the ball until the other player gets covered up; 2) pass the ball just out of reach for the set shot; 3) don't pass to a certain player; and other methods of restricting actions of other players. This is not a suspicion but a fact. I have actually heard other players being told to do this in a ballgame by not only the parents but also the coach. "Get over here and set down! You are not the shooter. Do you really think you are going to be the high scorer tonight. I think not!" Sometimes it is amazing what you can hear if you just shut up and listen.
  5. I am glad someone thinks team because the parents sure do not act like parents that want team. (Something about some sign)
  6. 7A pretty impressive - Jackson CO, Pickett CO, and Clarkrange. There are enough Gold and Silver balls there to allow a practice squad to practice shooting!!!!!!!!!! 7A is so fun because you never know which team is coming home with the next trophy. Will it be RBS this year????? Who knows but time will tell.
  7. It is a sad day when you must be 20 points better than the other team to improve your chances of a win in case the refs decide to get involved. Should the refs not be reprimanded for making too many bad calls? Everyone is afraid to call their hand. You know why? There is another game down the road and paybacks are HE....!!! Should TSSAA not police the refs? It's all about the money. If the refs beat you, you should have made less mistakes and been more ready to let them call however they please. If the refs get into the game change your game strategy. It's not an option but a necessity!!!!!!!!!
  8. 7A is like the SEC. Any given night almost any team can beat any other team but the sports authorities give no credit.
  9. The sad part is, many of them know what they are doing. Why will they look into the crowd and smile when they know they made a bad call and the spectators call their hand?
  10. Those wuz Celina's officials trying to upset the district so Celina could look better later!!!!
  11. Haven't seen Jackson Co. play but I understand they lost all their players except one and even lost the 1st sub. I'm sure Jackson Co. coach has been working hard but that is hard to overcome. Clarkrange also lost the most of the 1st string but most of the starters for this year have been in to play a lot last year. Most of the time Coach Rogers was looking for an excuse to play them last year instead of his seniors anyway. It will be interesting to see how it comes out! I say Clarkrange by a few in the last minutes.
  12. Congrats to whomever wins because if they win they deserve it. Both exeellent teams!!!!!
  13. Did you read the part about the good fans? I do not mean all the fans or all the students are obnoxious. There are a select few who are not considerate of anyone else at every ballgame or any other sporting event. However in most cases it is restricted by some authority figure, either the school staff or the fans if it is known about. At your gym it is not restricted at all and matter of fact is encouraged even by the school authorities. The school principal was ask last year to calm them down but they said they could do nothing. I am not ridiculing CCHS but only stating a fact as I see it. Some of the students in the cheering section get out of control. I agree that this game could turn out to be a great game. Let this or other posts not take away from the fact that CCHS and CHS have two of the top girls basketball teams from the top of the mountain. CCHS has a great team and I for one would like to see them go all the way. I look forward to seeing them in the Boro whether we make it or not. Obviously I hope we also make it and can if we do not have some mental lapse at some point. This is not about the schools or the players. This is about a few people that make it hard on fans to enjoy the game. This is not about CHS only but I have seen it happen at other games as well. Good luck to both teams as they try to make it to the ultimate.!!!
