  1. Pickett should have won by 15-20 but with about 3:30 to go just fell apart being careless. They were up 56-41. As long as Temple stays focused, this won't be close.
  2. I saw Pickett Co. beat Temple, I think it was 81-55 and no Temple player would start for Pickett Co. or most 7A teams...maybe one might, but I kept trying to figure out who this great player from temple was supposed to be and never did. When the Temple boys came to Pickett Co., #2 vs #7 in the state, Temple brought about 10 fans! This won't be pretty. Clarkrange by 35. Good to see the Lady Buffaloes go back to Murfreesboro...bring back another gold ball!
  3. Sometimes comparing scores doesn't work, but McMinn got blown out by Cleveland twice and LA beat them. Also, LA plays in the best AA district in the state. LA by 10
  4. Mr. Speedy...you need anger management treatment.
  5. catchpc10 left out that Pickett Co. has gone to the district tournament finals for 21 straight years...I doubt any other school at any level in the state can say that. And, Pickett Co's "off years" have been coming in 2nd instead of 1st. Their worst year in the past 20 or so was a 17-17 team, but even that one went to substate after losing the region by 1 or 2 points to Clarkrange at the buzzer. As for no one getting a call at Pickett Co, that includes Pickett Co. They get hammered by the refs at home as much as on the road. Pickett holding JC to 7 points in the 1st half will be remembered a lot longer than JC's 1 point and 4 point OT wins, especially since it's the Bobcats going to substate again. I doubt any public school supporter would have anything to complain about the private schools if TSSAA begins allowing public schools to recruit all over the state...and into Georgia.
  6. Pickett Co. played one of its worst games of the year, missing layups, missing at least a dozen tip ins, not rebounding, etc. Finally with the score 38-36 Westmoreland, Brent Logan stole the ball 3 straight times and Pickett went on to outscore the Eagles 20-4 for the 56-42 win. Wright and Capps were on the bench with foul trouble almost half the game. Westmoreland had a lot of players foul out at the end.
  7. The Bobcats played a lot of players; the starters plus Sells, Elmore, Brown and Copeland in gaining a 67-35 lead before the other reserves went in. HS kept in their starters to the end and made a furious comeback, but PC was never really threatened even though the final score looked close. As ususal, the Wildcats' Ethan Birdwell was outstanding and tore it up against the PC reserves, scoring 34 for the game...4 more of him and the Wildcats would be challenging for the district title. He should be one of the best in the district next year, not that he isn't as a junior. Brent Logan had 4 threes and 18 for the Bobcats. They are now 21-7.
  8. Kenwood...7 wins and 11 losses? AA Station Camp? I hardly think they are in the same status as Shelbyville, White Co. and Temple. Pickett has also played teams of their level like York and Van Buren etc. You just don't want anyone from PC to give you credit because when we do you reject it!
  9. "But, I think it will be very tough to beat Jackson Co. on their home court." ...Obviously this is giving credit to Jackson Co. and the quality of your team. But you haven't played teams like Temple, White Co, Shelbyville, etc. which would have made JC better. And as far as sending the wrong player...that claim came from a friend of the Jackson Co. coach. Anyone who doesn't see this as a very tough game is crazy. Then there should be another rematch in the district finals and again in the region finals and who knows, it could be like 1990 when Pickett Co. met Clarkrange in the state finals.
  10. Since the Pickett Co. boys have NOT played Cookeville this year, they did not "get slaughtered" by Cookeville. Pickett Co. also has played a much tougher schedule than Jackson Co. Better get your facts straight. But, I think it will be very tough to beat Jackson Co. on their home court. Pickett played terrible and was down 19-5 but came back to take the lead against JC. If the refs had followed the rules, they would have called a technical on JC for sending the wrong player to the line to shoot the foul at the end of the game...a friend of the JC coach said that this is an old JC trick. If Pickett plays like they did against Temple they'll do fine.
  11. I agree. Pickett and Jackson Co. are the best, then LA, DeKalb Co., Macon Co., York and Upperman. Clarkrange and Smith Co. would come next, then Clay Co, RBS, Cannon, , Monterey and HS. 7A always sends a team to the state and 7AA rarely does.
  12. When we played at Temple a couple years ago, the refs had 3 fouls on Josh Wright right away in the first quarter. Just before the half, a Temple player stole the ball, walked 4 steps and nothing was called and he scored. That put them up 6 instead of 4 or a possible 2 if Pickett had scored. Later a Temple player slid out of bounds with the ball, stood up and continued to play with nothing called. Pickett got hammered all night with few fouls being called. At Grace the next day, when PC won, a ref called a foul on Bailey...when he was on the bench! There was no doubt that ref had Bailey's number ready to call. After the game that ref went up into the stands and sat with a group of Grace fans. When PC fans complained on here how bad the refs were at these two games, we were blasted for it. So, the refs are ALWAYS right, they never change the outcome of any game ever. They also must have been perfect in this game last night since they have never called a bad game ever against Pickett. PC 68 Temple 58 says it all ...and when Ranger saw PC, that was early in the season when PC wasn't playing good ball. Comparing what you saw early in the season of both teams is meaningless once they have played each other...Pickett is the better team now on the court.
  13. ...and they say PC always claims it was the refs! There may have been 17 fouls called in the 2nd half and another 17 ignored! Such nice posts from a religious school uconlooker3320.
  14. Anyone at this game saw that Temple got away with a lot of fouls and had the best of the officiating by far. Gosh, I guess in 7A Temple would only be #3 or #4. PC lost to Jackson Co. by 1 point back when Pickett wasn't playing anywhere near as well as they are now. Anyway, PC may still be #2 on our district, but PC proved tonight they are better than Temple! There were more fans at the game from both Celina and Van Buren Co. than from Temple! I saw 5 fans from Temple! Absolutely NO fan support from Temple. When PC went to Temple, our fans filled half the gym and had as many fans there as Temple. Maybe since Temple has no fan support they couldn't get up for the game. Great to see the VB fans at the game...former VB players who always go to the top games. Too bad the PC band wasn't there tonight because Temple didn't get to see the usual PC atmosphere.
  15. Temple was #2 but their 2 recent losses weren't to "A" teams. Union City will most likely stay #1, but PC is in the mix now for the state championship.
