  1. You Irish really get hit hard with injuries after injuries.
  2. Is the other Hopson twin not playing?
  3. Curious do you know what is the girls side of Catholic is like this year with all the changes and loss of seniors? I hear the boys have some young talent this year.
  4. Knoxville Catholic is already at max capacity from a student perspective. The best alternative at this point is to have the middle school and high school coaches try to mirror programs. In the past, the younger teams had basically installed the high school football offenses. Very few 8th graders are ready to participate and be successful on the high school level. Agreed - very few 8th graders as well as freshman can compete at the high school level. You do have girls that can but not many and those are usually the girls who play summer ball competitively and up a grade. You may have girls that excel in JV but put them competing at the Varsity level you see girls who turn the ball over and can't handle pressure. Disagree - Middle school girls should never mix on a high school campus their athletic, academic, social skills and maturity level are not compatible.
  5. QSouth89 and IrishBBall where is Catholic playing summer ball at?
  6. Some girls just lose interest at the high school level in basketball for some reason or take on other sports. Sometimes its just that girl socializing as well. Replacing 4 year starters/lettermen is tough. My daughter plays in the same AAU organization with a lot of the Catholic girls and I hear a few former Irish players will be returning to try out. Love seeing girls be successful in basketball and rise to the next level of signing with a college. I hate seeing talented players not utilize their skills.
  7. Well I'll be the Irish went out and got a real coach! Great hire is a good statement. One who has actually coached girls at the AAU competitive level. Shameful Admirals and Irish will no longer be in the same division. Would like to see what the Lady Irish will look like next year. What do they have in talent for the new coach?
  8. Congratulations to the Lady Admirals!!
  9. Some of the wins and losses lately have been shocking. You think you know who is going to win a game only for it to go the opposite way. Top 2 teams will be Farragut and Bearden bottom 2 teams will be Catholic and West. District play will be a total new playing field for everybody.
  10. I appreciate your feedback but I will continue to disagree with the excuse of what district you are in.
  11. I agree with the feeder school comment without good feeder schools makes for a weak program. Your stronger players are all from public schools Catholic has Mccollough, Scott, Kenny sisters, and Hopson twins all 6 from public school system which happen to all play competitive AAU ball. This is why I think Farragut dominates along with Bearden better feeder programs. The parents in Farragut put alot into the sports programs at an early age. There is also alot to be said in playing AAU ball on the exposure level not on the local tournament level that prepares girls for high school ball. Coaches know who can play and know girls by names. This is why Catholic should be able to compete in the district you have the talent on the team so I do not agree with the fact your in a district with schools over 1000 more kids is a problem. We will agree to disagree on that comment. Inconsistency could be coming from your rotation. When you play your best 5 players no matter upperclassman or underclassman is when you get the W. Just finding those 5 is up to your coach.
  12. Catholic has talented players but have they had a winning season under their current coach does anybody know? Maybe the Catholic AD should look at the basketball program as it did the football program? Its a toss up on the bottom Catholic or West both are 0-5 in district play.
  13. I thought Catholic was actually going to beat our Lady Admirals. It was a very good game. The problem I see with the Catholic team is PG who can't see the floor or open players dribbling in with head down and not enough passing. Not feeding the post who is consistenly posting up. Not utilizing talented underclassman enough. I don't rule out Catholic in playoffs if they can be more consistent. Defensively strong team.
  14. I find nothing funny about your comment. Concussions are a serious matter as we also have some injured players (and concussions) on Lady Admirals team with some repeat injured from last year. The fact you make a comment like that cause Hopson has another injury shows how shallow a person you are. I know those Hopson twins and have been around them in AAU basketball you can't ask for better athletes or young ladies with good character.
