  1. I think we're in for a tough night. Not going to sugarcoat it at all.
  2. It is what it is. That's football. Page is looking good, no doubt. Hope they have great season and make a deep run in the playoffs. We're only rivals for one game. We are fans of their's the rest of the season.
  3. Penalties, Penalties, Penalties! Even with all the penalties, the young guys hung in there. The biggest penalty of the night, that cost us the most, was a roughing the passer on the 3rd and long play, which Creek Wood scored on the next play. Bonehead call on the ref's part considering the QB was running the option and was leveled just as he got rid of the ball. Just a well defended play. The other ref pulled him to the side afterwards to educate him on his blown call. Either way, tons of opportunities we have to improve on. Congrats to the RedHawk team and fans.
  4. Talking to some folks earlier, I didn't realize it was that bad. Some young ones will definitely see action tonight. We'll strap it up and get after them. No excuses.
  5. Congrats to the Patriot team and fans. Flat out took us to the woodshed. Page's football club was way underestimated, if you ask me. They are fast. The skill players are lighting quick. The QB can throw. Luckily he missed some wide open guys or the score would have been worse. Page's D strung out the outside lanes and closed the middle up. Jackets never got in sync. We had three injuries that will hurt if they're not back soon, but didn't affect the score at all. The Jackets will get right back to work and see what happens next week. Great atmosphere tonight. It's a great cross county rivalry and the new big "Battle of 840" trophy makes it better. Page just came to play tonight. Plain and simple.
  6. I like both teams. Absolutely no disrespect to Waverly, but I'll always pull for a Region 6 team over a non. Just a loyalty thing I guess. I'll be keeping up with the Tigers though, all season.
  7. Best wishes Region 6! Hope to see a great, safe, and injury free season for all. Yellow Jacket Pride!ðŸˆ
  8. Don't forget that Jake's Dad, Jeff, is a former "Mr Irrelavent" draft pick who now scouts for the Panthers, and uncle Kurt is the OC at Illinois St. None of that really matters either, because they don't say a word about that stuff. They are truly great people who just want to fit in. We are fortunate to have them in Fairview.
  9. There is even more big time football in this kid's family. I won't go into all of that on here though. Sammy looks good on both sides of the ball. He can be a star.
  10. Similar...just 35lbs lighter. lol They will compliment each other's abilities all season. Just hope we can stay healthy.
  11. Built similar to Caldwell. Has wheels too! First cousin is QB at BGA. His other first cousin is Iowa's starting QB. Brother plays WR at App St.
  12. Dang! East & Centerville right out of the gate!
  13. The first annual "Battle of 840"! Got a big ole fancy new trophy that will be housed by the winner of this game each year.
  14. Haha... This kid has a pedigree. Football is deep in his bloodline.
  15. I don't know of any team that looks solid in their first scrimmage. I know we didn't, nor did Marshall County who we played. Coaches play conservative and kids are being looked at in different positions. Greenbrier is a big ole football club with some talent. We'll know more in a couple of weeks when we travel over to Rudderville to square off with 4A Page in real football action.
  16. Greenbrier comes to Fairview this Friday for some scrimmage work.
  17. Awful early for me to make that comparison yet. I think there will be different kids moved around into different spots. Don't want to say too much on here, but for a first scrimmage there were really good things I saw, and some things that need work. To be expected. Our staff will get it clicking. We'll see improvement this Friday night.
  18. For me it was hard to tell. They have good size and plenty of athletes. Being the first live action for both teams, neither looked like world beaters, but that's to be expected. I doubt Coach O showed much. The Marshall County fans I talked to said they are a really young team. I don't know. They have a lot of potential once they get dialed in. My opinion is they're going to be tough to handle. We appreciate the Tigers letting us visit and get some work in.
  19. Your neighbors in Fairview have the entire NCS family in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless.
  20. Yeah I get what he's saying, but would love to here his examples of why he says it.
  21. Well, please do explain your 19th & 20th post.....
  22. We're still on your schedule. We'll be keeping up with the Tigers. Got lots of respect for the town, fans, and program at Waverly.
