  1. 1. South Pitt (until someone knocks them off, they deserve #1 spot) 2. Gordonsville (i like what i see but minimally tested from here on out could hurt them later) 3. Greenback (not sneaking up on anyone, theyre a good team) 4. Coalfield (keeping it going from last yrs squad) 5. Huntingdon (gotta avoid losses to lesser teams to be ranked higher)
  2. I noticed early on in the season that he'd put on weight. Definitely noticeable, if i had to guess id guess at least 20lbs. Ive wondered all season if it was a planned bulk up or just happened?
  3. Don't let what I'm saying worry you in any way. FCS can still win by whatever margin they want against this years version of JC, assuming they arent looking ahead.
  4. Slightly better than last year. The problem with your question and comparison is that Clay Co. is way down from even last year. Which should be proven this week when they play RBS.
  5. Scale of 1 to ten, ten being best: Pickett Co 1, Clay Co 2, RBS 3, Monterey 4, Jackson Co 5, Watertown 5, Trousdale 6, Friendship 8/9, Gordonsville 9. Whenever these teams face off, just use this scale and you can predict the winner all year.
  6. I'm going to point out the obvious now and maybe post later. 1. The level of talent played so far by Monterey has been minimal, and there most impressive game, to me is their loss, because it was a 1 pt loss to the best team on their schedule so far. 2. Montereys only shot Friday night is to catch the Tigers sleeping after running the gauntlet the last three weeks. If the Tigers can be tamed, itll be in the first half. When they wake up, if they even have to, it'll be over. 3. My gut is that Gville will come to handle business and it's going to be a long night for Monterey.
  7. Just out of curiosity, and no disrespect to Gordonsville (because i see them all year) or South Pitt (only because when you play them, everyone knows what you're getting) but since Gordonsville isnt in the same region, I'm curious how these other teams that i dont get to see, look. What makes these other top 10 teams like Greenback, Union City, Huntingdon, and Coalfield stand out? What's their strengths and weaknesses? What type O and D do they run? Any D1 prospects?
  8. It was just my opinion. Not upset at all. Just sharing my thoughts about how irrelevant it really is. I'd never paid attention to it until i now see such a glaring injustice. It will all be settled on the field and I'm pumped to watch the season progress. Now, supper and throwing some ball with the kiddo. Have a great night and a great season for whomever you root for.
  9. You're right, too long but glad i got it off my chest. Lol Bring on the playoffs, then the polls won't matter.
  10. While i agree that Watertown isn't great, i don't think they're pitiful. That being said, i think they're better than Trousdale, so where should they be? Also, for either Trousdale or Watertown to be in the top twelve, it should show you how down 2A is this year. 5 good teams and then everyone else.
  11. Anyone have stats or can give me a synopsis of the way the game went?
  12. Dem Tigers 34 Dem Jackets 20 For the love of all that's great about this country, someone please post each score on this thread so I don't have to suffer tonight. I'll be in softball heck if you need me. That is all !
  13. Croz, normally i agree on most of what you say but I'm pretty confident Gordonsville will NEVER overlook any Trousdale team, Pickett Co yes, but never Trousdale.
  14. Praying for rain tomorrow. My daughters softball rainouts have been rescheduled for tomorrow night and my allegiance lies with my kiddo no matter how bad i wish i were at the turney. However, a good rain during the day will insure my seat will be filled, as it should be. Lol. I know its terrible but i fear that after this game the remainder of the season will be played mostly by backups and the next "real" game won't be til November.
  15. 1. I can't ever imagine Trousdale without speed. 2. Back when i was in high school, Trousdale didnt have big linemen at all; biggest was like 215, smallest like 180, but they were good, aggressive, and got the job done against bigger D lines. However, if this Tcs team really has problems on the line, its going to be a long night for the jackets regardless of speed. The Tigers can dominate whenever they want. I expect to see more blitzes this game from the Tigers to get into the backfield and cause a little havoc. Each time they blitzed Fcs, Long just looked like he'd throw the ball up for grabs (unfortunately, his receivers went and got several to bail them out) 3. The Tigers have to play like they did against Friendship to win. 4. I'm loving the year in and year out competition in 4a. There always seems to be at least one team that can do some damage in the playoffs; hopefully this year itll be Gville in 1a and Friendship in 2a. I'll give my opinion of the jackets chances after Friday.
  16. Trousdale is going to be #2 with a 2-2 record?
  17. Hey Slim, make sure to pass along to the jackets to run at #53 also, because he plays on the defensive side too. I'm sure you'll wear him out also. I have no prediction yet on this game because I've not seen trousdale play. I do however expect the turnovers for the jackets to continue because you cant fix that in a week, especially when you're most likely going to get hit harder than in any game previous. (if we can catch you). Even though i haven't seen Tc, I'm sure they still have speed, theyve always had speed. This is a good warm up for us to see where we'd match against South Pitt, just like we're the best version for Tc to see how they'll do against Friendship. Pretty evenly matched teams in my opinion. Go Tigers and im hoping for another big victory (but i expected that with last yrs Tiger team) We better come prepared because it's not going to be handed to us.
  18. Friendship big in this game and will be able to get some backups valuable playing time, as well as much needed rest for the starters. With or without Long, the Commanders roll in this one. As iron sharpens iron, Friendship just got sharpened against Gordonsville, and will reap rewards from it the rest of the year.
  19. I don't mean to downplay the hit or perception thereof, but i cant begin to tell you how many players over the years have been tackled into the fences at Gordonsville, either intentionally or not, and by either the visitors or home team. Most recieved personal foul calls, some nothing, but ive never seen anyone suspended for it, ever. Maybe its time to let it go and start a new thread for your next opponent. Croz, where's "Trousdale at Gordonsville", I'm ready for the next game?
  20. Slim, i probably wouldve agreed with you up til Cason took over the game. His two big second half runs were back breaking, and then combine that with Long coming out was icing on the Tiger cake. Game wouldve probably been different if not for those couple of things.
  21. Stats are in the Tennessean this morning. I wasnt as down on the refs as most of you are. Yes they choked the whistle a few times (i assumed they wanted to let the kids play, which is what a good official will do, BUT within reason) and secondly of course a few calls were missed, that just happens. It was no where near the worst ive seen just by sheer numbers of seeing thousands of games in my life. Id give them a C overall. However, i still feel the players determined the outcome of the game. Haven't seen anyone mention this yet, so just to be clear on the watson hit on long (for passers-by) long WASNT injured on that particular play. I believe he was injured later on by an unblocked two player blitz from his blindside. Still no word on Long's injury?
  22. No info on long but after sleeping on it i have just another observation from the game. Both teams were very even last night, but with Fcs playing so many underclassmen, that is disheartening for the coming years. Where Gordonsville is three yards and a cloud of dust and wearing defenses out all night long, Friendship really never took advantage of their strength; Defenses are so concerned about Long beating them deep that theyre terrified of the "Long ball." (Pun in quotes) If Friendship wouldve taken advantage of little 3 and 4 yd quick hit passes, it has the same effect on the D as Gvilles cloud of dust; the secondary is still running around trying to make a play, D is getting worn out, ball control, and Fcs is keeping their Qb healthy. Keep control of the ball and keep control of the game. Thats the way id do it if i coached a team with that personel. For the most part, Fcs was trying to hit the home run with every pass play; Long would throw it up and those receivers were going and getting it, but you live by the big play and die by the big play which cost them when Long had to come out. Unfortunately, teams will look for this style (short passing game will now be considered safe for backup qb) with Long out of the lineup now. If he makes it back, and hopefully he will, by putting more of the quick hit passes back into the offense, instead of what looks like hail mary's all night, Fcs could be in for another ring because they definitely have the confidence.
  23. Croz, is there any way to get the actual stats from the game since there was no radio call?
