I try not base judgment of a team on one game, especially at State, but I believe HF is use to beating teams with their athletism but when shots not falling they are a bit exposed. Great season to HF and if they can figure out how to be more discipline and fundamental they would make some noise.

Despite Cobb scoring 28 of currently 49 pts, this has been a great team effort by Upperman. Their defense has been sound and always seem to be in good position for rebounds.

Yeah, there's probably 6-8 pts that HF missed that should've been made.

Part of HF problem is not finishing around the rim. Also, don't seem to be great team shooters.

HF looks to try frustrate Cobb. Not sure that's the best approach. He might just drop 40 today.

I remember seeing Loretto in Class 1A and winning a State Championship few years ago. Weathers run, but wow, this team is huge now. They weren't as big then, or so it doesn't seem. Side note: Is that Tidwell, the other Tidwell's brother that pitched for Tennessee?

Friday's matchups: Humbolt vs Chatt Prep Hillcrest vs Wayne County I believe both games should be great games. I believe I'll put Humbolt vs WC in the Finals.

I thought the WC vs Harriman game was exciting. That was the type of game that could have went the other way as well. It was the closest game of all the Class A games.

It's really a shame, lot's of these small town Class A teams travel to support their respective team in the State. It's a time when those communities come together. It's a special time and if a school is not legitimately setup, it's a real shame. It takes a lot away that makes small town ball special.

I believe Humbolt's pressure will cause some issues against Chatt Prep. I think it'll be a good game.

I'm still really uncertain of my pick, but looking back to last year's stats at State, Upperman hit 19-21 on FTs to Hume Fogg 6-9. If I remember correctly as good as Ty was, it was Upperman's post player, Chaffin, that hit some timely FTs and got some timely rebounds in last year's matchup that proved to be too much for Hume Fogg. With Ty being a year older and stronger, I believe I will go with Upperman in this one. However, like others have mentioned, it will depend on how this game is called.

I thought the refs did a good job last year during both boys and girls state tournament. They let the players play and didn't call the touch type fouls but overall good. This year, something has definitely changed. I can't speak for the State tournament, but regular season and some post season games, the refs have been bad. One thing I noticed this year is how sensitive refs are these days. I attended one game where a fan was yelling, nothing too bad, and the ref during timeout motioned with his hand to keep quiet by placing his finger over his mouth toward that person. Then he went over to the school security person (a police officer) and "told" on them....ha. That officer just looked at him and did nothing....lol. I'm sure he thought how ridiculous the ref was being. The bad calls can be explained by not being trained properly and not educated enough to know when and when not to call a foul. However, people are overly sensitive these days and it is showing.
