  1. Summertown opens season against Lawrence County at home tomorrow. Should be a good one!
  2. Summertown & Mt. Pleasant scrimmaged on Friday last week
  3. Must not forget the Summertown Eagles. Top 6 in state last year in A ball with no seniors on the team. Played 3 sophomores and an 8th grader on the starting lineup as well!!
  4. You are right!! Perry County "brought it"....Summertown did not! Great job Vikings! Gotta say I'm pulling for you now. What a story and a cap to a season! Good luck
  5. Ok S'town out early in Basketball. Should help the baseball team get ready to roll!! -: Got to put thread back to top where it should be
  6. Summertown made it last season with junior and sophomore team. Had a couple freshmen playing a big role as well. Was deep in pitching then. Should be better this season
  7. Unfortunately I think probably Collinwood by 12 pts. Even if Collinwood weren't the older, bigger, and deeper team, Summertown does a good enough job of beating themselves with turnovers, bad shot selection and just occasional bad play to prevent them a chance of winning! Summertown has the skills and talent to be competitive any given night with most teams. It's usually after the halftime, and really just for a short window of time that Summertown does the damage to themselves. I don't know what happens during the half, but it wouldn't hurt the eagles to make a game adjustment at that time to give a different look to the game plan. Doesn't seem like that happens. I just hope its tight thru 3 periods. If so then should be a good 4th quarter. If Morrison can play like he has shown a few times this year against Collinwood he will be the x factor. At least 2 of his games this season has been the best play I've seen from any high school player in recent history. When he's on, he's a beast!!
  8. Summertown has had a reasonably solid defense all season, this game being the exception! Collinwood is good and deep but should not have scored above 70 on the defense that has competed against other teams. There was really no discipline to the play at all! Lack of game planning begins to diminish a team, because a sound game plan involves the whole team!
  9. Yes indeed! The "3" killed Summertown last night! But a bigger factor in the game if true...from my understanding there was no game plan for Collinwood!?!? I just don't see how you plan to beat or compete with a team if you don't have a plan, and to that point a plan A & B. May not work....but at least you gave it a mental and physical shot. I really do hope that's not true!
  10. Is he a senior? I'm not sure I've seen him. Briar pretty much carried the load against us along with a righty. Don't remember his name, but he should definitely be an ace from what I remember of him
  11. If you had watched the game you would know that on a regular shooting night for Summertown, the game wouldn't have been this close. Summertown didn't hit a field shot till 2nd half. One of the worst shooting performances this season. Defense is really what kept Summertown in the game until about 2 minutes till half. Oh yea, I agree with eaglenation97's post. Not a lot of support for our Eagles past couple seasons. Hope there are more posts from you past the 1st! ;-D Just messin! GO EAGLES!!
  12. Ok....guess I will give a stab at answering my own question......no one is into baseball yet! Yes 12a, Collinwood does have a lot of talent returning, however may lack the leadership to get it done this season due to Briar moving on! Was I close?
  13. I believe the coach is just being smart....not necessarily classy. Playing youth more because you know what you have is smart for the future. Sounds like he is not just living for today but setting up for tomorrow. He does need however to make a couple "statement games" as the post season nears. Please just don't make it one of our games!
  14. What does Collinwood have for the upcoming season? Not sure what was lost. From what I remember they should have some talent returning
  15. I think it could be. But the expectations need to remain HIGH! That's one thing the former coach always expected was perfection. I think the new coach must continue that expectation, but be more involved in showing them "HOW" to achieve it while understanding that the same results require different approaches depending on the player your trying to coach. I have very high hopes for the upcoming season. This "should" be "the year" for s'town!
  16. Pitching should be very deep though. Should have real talent from both sides of the mound. With more consistency from the bats Summertown should make it deep in the post season....should.....have a new head coach though
  17. Not really. Should be better than last season tho if players improve as they should with age. Last year we didn't have a senior on the team
  18. Can't wait for season too see if there is anything to talk about. Hoping some are ready to start early!
  19. Exactally! Need more consistency from inside play. The subbing is just crazy. Should sub no more that 2 at a time, and done right, the starters can get the rest needed for the 2nd half without interrupting the flow of the offense or defense. Rebounding has to improve for sure, but contrary to cwoodbball's belief....I think Summertown may surprise! If we hadn't worn down due too lack of depth in 2nd half, we had that 3A school Collinwood beat!
  20. Summertown has to find their inside game. Too willing too jack the 3 ball when opportunities are there low. True teamwork is dishing the ball too higher percentage shots when they are open. Not a lot of size, but the talent is there. If they can learn to play as a team and not worry about who the high scorer is they could be hard to beat...... even for "THE WOOD"
  21. WOW! Not enough happening in 12a if its 2 days since a post in season! Need something exciting to talk about to get it going! Not sure if this is it.... but how will the Perry County/Summertown matchup go Tuesday night?
  22. Bracket was definitely catered to Friendship! Just look at the records in that bracket. Says a lot, But hey, lets play ball and see who's got 'em in the championship game!
  23. In 6 innings! GREAT MOMENTUM! GO SUMMERTOWN EAGLES! NO SENIORS, BUT STILL ENOUGH TALENT TO GET IT DONE
  24. Region 6, Summertown 7, Columbia Academy 2
