  1. I am not an Ensworth fan, but let me try and field this one. If they are are like Brentwood Academy and I believe they are in this respect, many, many more kids receive financial aid that do not play football than do. Ensworth does not have to recruit. Have you seen their facilities and heard about their coaches? Top students, athletes and their parents are often drawn to what they feel is best for their child. Great traditions, facilities and coaches are some of the things that draw. Not sure about the tuition, but I hope I have helped.
  2. I have to agree with you. First of all I think Baylor will have grown and regrouped from their earlier season visit to Nashville. Most importantly, our offense has not proven to be a "run away" offense. It is a grind it out offense with an occasional big play. I will handicap the game with BA as a 10 point favorite.
  3. This is a defining week for the Irish. They will move toward answering the question: Have they arrived - are they contenders for the gold ball or is this another step in their journey back?
  4. I heard cramping too. Anyway, he was gimpy. I just thought a healthy Justin vs. a gimpy Cody would have been better with the lead, especially. It is my job as a fan to have all of the answers /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I thought it was a good idea to try and get CJ outside more. We picked the wrong team to experiment with that. Great speed and great corners. I hope Coach Potter does not give up on it. I predict that Josh Pleasant is going to be a HUGE star before he graduates.
  5. #22 IS a stud. We new he was coming and we could not stop him. We have played three good football teams coming in to this game and no one has come close to doing that to us. Even when we did not know it was coming. I honestly did not think that it could be done. Our QB is also a sophomore, as well and played with an ankle injury during the 2nd half. It really seemed to affect his performance. I was kind of surprised that Coach Potter did not bring in Justin Cash.
  6. I agree Hillsboro will come back stronger after playing a game of this quality and intensity as they pursue their ultimate goal of the gold ball.
  7. Smyrna is loaded with heart. That is the main thing that I will take away. Sonny is one heck of a good kid and I hope he is back out there in a hurry.
  8. He may have his biggest challenge with the BA line, but it is hard to imagine Sonny not being up for it. I haven't seen Smyrna. Their offensive line may keep all his worries away.
  9. Right on the money BRBB. Indy, Antioch and Smyrna to name three more
  10. One of the greatest posts I have ever read on CoachT. Thanks for taking the time.
  11. I disagree with your logic. BA continued to offer financial aid as they did since they joined the TSSAA. The TSSAA changed - not them, therefore forcing them to D2. Let me get this straight: you "knew they did not go down", but you said that they DID to "accentuate a point". Does this mean that the facts, as they exist, were not strong enough to make your point? You had to say something that you knew to be untruthful? That speaks volumes. Through the early years, during the three class system, BA was a small single A school, but requested to play up to AA. If they would have moved to AAA, they would have had to move up in every sport. If all they cared about was winning state titles, why would they not have stayed and played to the size of their enrollment - single A? HMMM? They played up every single year after they won the single A state championship in 1974. They never stayed down in the class where their enrollment dictated. They moved up every single year. These are facts - not my opinion. The facts have nothing to do with loyalty. I respect your opinion, but you should represent your arguments in that fashion. Also, when you get a little crazy and mention an actual fact, it hits with SOOO much more impact when it is true.
  12. Interesting contrast to "runtheball". Brandon presented facts to back up his point. Also, just as a crazy wild bonus, he made the facts accurate.
  13. I think you are posting on a subject that you know very little about. Getting things wrong and representing your opinion as fact are pretty strong indicators.
  14. Not all coaches are about feathers and egos. Some coaches are playing to be better in November. They accomplish this by playing the best opponents possible. So, why do you think that your opinion is a fact? I think you meant: "I feel strongly".
  15. I think most people in attendance would say that McCallie won a skirmish in the trenches during their first drive. However, I will agree that BA has not looked supernatural. It is EXTREMELY hard to run on them, but it worries me to think about what Sonny could do. He will have to hurry, but that will be okay with him. BA's offense has looked pretty ordinary and has not totally jelled with the new system just yet. I have not seen Smyrna this year, but I know Sonny very well. This game is a pick'em in my opinion. It is not a David vs. Goliath scenario by any means.
  16. That is a pretty darned on the money description and assessment, regarding McCallie / BA.
  17. Well, I was trying to make myself feel better by thinking of the numerous track state titles, most importantly, last year. However, I was just taking a mental inventory. Other than Chris Jordan, of course, the QB and three top wide receivers are baseball players .
  18. I was sincerely impressed with McCallie's win over Franklin. Not as much that they beat them, but the decisiveness of the victory. So, I will not muster the guts to predict a BA win. However, I will predict that McCallie will not win on the ground, if they win. Opponents have rushed the ball 34 times this year against BA for -41 yards. McCallie should do better than our other opponents, but I predict several big completions will be necessary to sustain drives. We have been suspect on pass coverage. The pass rush is very good, but the coverage is a little soft. BA drew closer to solving the passing problem last week. Nelson, who is a sophomore, was 8 for 11 for 85 yards, 2 TD, 0 int. All of this happened without our opponent worrying about Chris Jordan. The improvement was encouraging. Our big "Ace in the hole" should be McCallie's confusion at our offensive scheme
  19. Wow, I haven't seen McCallie this year to dispute your speed assessment. However, I will be surprised and disappointed if you are correct. It is the McCallie tenacity and execution that usually gives us fits. If we have to deal with a speed superiority, it could be big trouble for us.
  20. I think Cordell will do well as your games progress. I saw he and your offense improve from the first half to the second half. Keep in mind, he had to deal with a very tenacious athletic pass rush on the first game of the season. Possibly the most tenacious and athletic that he will see all year. I believe you are correct to be optimistic and I predict that Cordell will work his way in to your optimism soon
  21. For the most part every BA player plays one way. There are packages that Chris Jordan comes in on defense and short yardage packages that an offensive lineman might come in, but that is about it. In fact BA's best QB will not play QB because he will play corner. A sophomore will QB. If BA is defeated, we will not have that excuse.
  22. I have first hand information regarding this subject. Hoover has offered $10K plus expenses for Brentwood Academy to come to Hoover. First year Coach Potter is re-tooling from the ground up (totally different offense), does not have a clue who will play QB will be and is not a fan of Propst. Although, Hoover continues to seige, Coach Potter is a no go at this time. Most of us feel that Coach Flatt would have jumped on the deal, but Coach Potter is settling in and is not quite as adventurous in his first year.

Just out of curiosity and I can see I risk being called a really mean name, were you there?
  24. I don't know if he is still around, because we did not play Fairview last year. However, for two seasons prior to that, Fairview Middle School played our Brentwood Academy like grim death. We were a lot bigger and had more speed, but that team found a way to compete. As I recall in the game prior to ours he beat a much larger Brentwood Middle School team, as well. If that coach is still around and is interested they should look at him. He impressed all of the folks at B.A.
  25. If I am not mistaken he was on the Vanderbilt coaching staff for a while and owned some Popeye's Fried Chicken franchises. He sent his son John to Brentwood Academy and John went on to play football at Vanderbilt.
