  1. The Powell game was wild! An awesome game to watch. Throp is an excellent player and I feel he could have done a lot more to hurt Powell. He started off HOT but then never did too much scoring after the start. I think Powell is fortunate he didnt do more than he did. Powell is goin state - it just sounds weird saying it. It's been almost 20 years since Powell boys have gone state, and being from Powell and having played their myself, I know what a huge deal it is to go (even if they dont make any noise). After doin some research on Oakland, they seem to have a good guard in Allen and the 31-3 record speaks for itself. The paper said they beat RedBank 92-51 in their sectional. They sound like a great team but Powell does have a chance to win in my mind.
  2. When they called that walk, they were wrong. Luckily they did call it cuz it should have been Powell's ball anyway cuz he was out of bounds.
  3. The first game was really entertaining. Does everyone think it will turn out the same way, or can Powell (struggling as of late) come away with the dub?
  4. I don't care about the match-up between Cam and Hargis. Period. Powell vs. Halls is what I am going to the game for. To tell you the truth, when Halls beat Powell earlier in the year I was totally shocked. I didn't go to the game, but I thought Powell would have so much more inside talent that they would win. I think tonight will be different though. Smith and Connor will have close to 20 each unles they get in foul trouble. Powell in yet another close game. Powell - 68 Halls - 63
  5. Should be a great game. Don't know much about Oak Ridge except they have good guard play with Domsic and Younkin, and also a nice inside presence with Dowdell. Powell is 2-0 in the district with close wins over both Karns and Clinton. This will be a game Powell will look back on if they don't play up to their potential with this being an oppurtune time to take OR with football players just getting back. Who else does Oak Ridge have that has been doing well. Also - Since Ogan has been head coach at Powell, he is yet to beat Oak Ridge at Oak Ridge. His first win there was last year in the tournament, but it was not against OR. I think the teams match up well and it will be interesting to see how it turns out.
  6. I said that Powell would win by 15+ if they played like they were capable of playing. They did not play well in my mind. There were some bright spots here and there, but overall, I felt like they could have played a lot better. Most of the bright spots I am talking about came on the offensive end for Powell. I was actually surprised. I knew Lee and Conner were good, but they still surprised me for some reason. Does anyone know how many they scored and how many rebounds Lee got - semmed like he was comin down with every one. I was surprised yet again, but on a bad note - the Panthers defense. It didn't look too good, but last night was the first time I have got to see them play and maybe they had an off night on the defensive end. Either way, I am sure that Monday's practice will be focused on defense because Ogan was livid at times. There were a lot of accounts when the help D wasn't there and Ogan would be screamin'. But I feel like if the Panters can pick up their defense, then they definitely have a chance to do some damage this year. I know both of the Panthers games are home next week, but who do they play?
  7. How is Karns' team looking this year? Who is putting up their points and taking control of the team? Are they any good? As you can tell I don't know much about Karns this year - not much talk about them. From what I do know, I think Powell has it in the bag. The only way they lose is if they don't stay focused and beat themselves. I'm not saying it will be a blowout because Karns/Powell is always a good game no matter where it is played, but if Powell plays the way they are capable, I'm saying 15+.
  8. This game is what basketball is all about. It should be one of the greatest games this year. Powell and OR have a rivalry goin on and since it is for the Championship, it just adds that much more to it. Rebounding will be a major key in this ball game. Keke may get her points, but if Powell will shut down everyone else, OR doesn't stand a chance. I'm looking forward to a great game and hopefully Powell will come out district Champs. I don't like making predictions, but I will make an exception - Powell by 5.
  9. My Predictions: Central over CC Halls over Karns Powell over Central OR over Halls Powell over Clinton Clinton over Halls (cons.) Powell over OR (champ.) Rimrecker, no way Clinton can beat Powell by 10.
  10. Halls cannot get 3rd place. Its impossible. Here are the scenarios. If: 1) Halls beats Powell and Clinton, 3 way tie for 2nd and it would be; Halls 2nd, Clinton 3rd, and Powell 4th. 2) Halls beats Powell and loses to Clinton, Clinton 2nd, Powell 3rd, and Halls would be at a 6-6 tie with Karns. Since Karns beat OR, I am assuming they would get 4th and Halls 5th. 3) Halls loses to Powell and beats Clinton, same scenario as #2 but Powell would be 2nd and Clinton 3rd. 4) Halls loses to Powell and Clinton, they have 5th as their record would be 7-5.
  11. What could happen?? OR - Nothin. They are the Champs. Powell - Best case would be win against Halls, and have Halls beat Clinton. Will finish 2nd - 4th. Also if Powell loses to Halls they can still take 2nd. If Clinton loses to Halls along with Powell, and Karns beats Halls, there will be a 3-way tie with Clinton, Powell, and Karns at each team being 7-5. If that is the case, Powell would get 2nd, followed by Clinton, then Karns. Clinton - With a win against Halls, they have that 2 spot. They control their own destiny. A win will get them second, a loss will get them third. If they lose and Powell wins, they have third; if they lose and Powell loses and Karns wins they have third; and finally if Clinton, Powell, and Karns all lose to Halls they get third in the tie breaker between Clinton, Halls, and Powell. In this scenario, Halls would finish 2nd, then Clinton, and Powell 4th. Karns - Like Mocs said, they cant get third or higher. Will end up in 4th or 5th place. Halls - Has to win out. If they can pull that off they have second. Halls is still fighting for that 2 spot, but they have their work cut out for them with games against Powell, Karns, and Clinton. Halls will finish 2nd - 5th. Central - Has to beat OR. More than likely they have sixth b/c if they beat OR, they need Halls to lose out. Will finish 5th or 6th. CC - 7th Place That two spot is still open. 1st and and 7th have been decided, but 2-6 is still there. When it is all said and done, this is how I see it panning out: 1. Oak Ridge (10-2) 2. Powell (8-4) 3. Clinton (7-5) 4. Karns (7-5) 5. Halls (5-7) 6. Central (3-9) 7. CC (2-10) Whew! The race has cleared up a bit, but there are still many possibilities (especially if Clinton loses to Halls). By the way, is the Halls/Clinton game on Tues. at Halls or is it at Clinton?
  12. This game is huge for both teams. If Powell wants a chance at that 2 spot, they have to win. If Clinton loses tomorrow night, there is still a chance for first, but OR would have to lose out and Clinton would need to beat Halls. Clinton controls their own destiny. If they win out, definite bye into the tourny. On the other hand, if they lose out, more than likely they will be playing for that region spot in the post season. Powell needs help from others. Even if the Panters win out, they need Halls to beat Clinton or Karns to win out if Clinton beats Halls. This game has a lot riding on it and the crowd should be rather large so the intensity level will be top notch. Should be a great district game. Powell by 7. What is everyone elses predictions for the game?
  13. District 3AAA games this week Tuesday: Clinton @ Powell - Powell Karns @ Oak Ridge - Oak Ridge Halls @ CC - Halls Friday: Halls @ Karns - Karns Oak Ridge @ Central - OR *Saturday: Powell @ Halls - Powell *Game will be held at 7:00 not 8:00
  14. Powell/Halls game on 12th JV Girls: 4:00 Varsity Girls: 5:30 Guys: 7:00
  15. WOW!! This is insane! I can't believe that there is a chance it could end up in a 4 way tie for first. Just to be a part of this is awesome. What makes this so exciting is that this is for an automatic bid into the region and also a bye in the district tournament where no one is safe. Mocs, lets hope Powell can win out and have some luck to end in a 3 or 4 way tie.
