  1. Well, I have no dog in the race so here we go... Top Freshman Performers... Pitchers I think you have to look at Emily Edwards (Soddy Daisy) and Alicia Raymond (Walker Valley). Both of these pitchers have seen limited time because they are behind very good ACE's. That being, of course, Kelsey Nunley who has signed with Kentucky and Sidney Hooper who was the TimesFreePress AREA Player of the Year last year. I think you will be seeing these two heavily in the future. Hitting In this category I'm gonna talk about Freshman who have really brought the bats this season. I think the top dog in this category has to be Hallie Davis of Walker Valley. Not often does a Freshman come into high school and hit in the high .300's as a lead off hitter. Very aggressive in the box. Other very notable hitters are Jessica Boles (Soddy Daisy), MacKenzie Elrod (Walker Valley), Lexie Axley (McMinn County), Carly Frost (Cleveland). These are girls that have filled roles that are important to their teams successfully.
  2. So who does everyone think are the top Freshman performers this year. From seeing all the teams in the District compete this year, is clear that there are a strong group of freshman playing for every team.
  3. I would agree that the top 4 are definitely peaking at a very good time, so it will be very competitive. On the other hand, the bottom of the district have hit a reverse and are degressing. I think the top 4 are eye balling the District Crown in the tournament and I think they all have a fair shot. Soddy is still the team to beat, but is not one of the strongest squads they've had. Hitting has been average at best and of course pitching is stellar with Nunley.
  4. Soddy Daisy(26-2-2, 9-0) has clinched the 1st seed in the District. As for the rest, Walker Valley (18-6, 7-2 District) is in the 2nd slot. Ooltewah is in the 3rd (20-8, 5-3) and Rhea County at 4th (18-8, 4-4). The rest of the seeding at the bottom of the district will be very interesting as those teams will be scrapping for district wins they haven't seen many of. The Walker Valley and Ooltewah game will be a huge game in the district next Tuesday at Ooltewah. Rhea County still has a chance to surprise as they get to host both Walker Valley and Ooltewah at home.
  5. Soddy Daisy 5 Rhea County 4 Walker Valley 14 Bradley Central 0
  6. Who was the starting pitcher for Soddy? Was it Denayer?
